Room and hotel are in a classic old Chinese building. Beautiful. Quiet and relaxing courtyard. The owners are lovely and helpful, working with phone translator apps to be sure we have everything we need. We decided to leave a day early as there was less to see in Pingyao than we expected, and the hosts helped us to arrange transport to the train station. Location is great - steps to the main tourist streets and attractions.

The beds are traditional Chinese platform beds - a wooden platform with a bedroll on top. This is the experience we were looking for, but 2 of our 4 family members found them OK, the other 2 (myself included) found them uncomfortable and hard. Just to keep in mind when you are choosing an authentic stay. Additionally, similar in the bathroom - there is a toilet and sink, and the showerhead is just in front of them - no separate shower stall - you just stand next to the toilet and sink and shower. Functional, hot water, but not a luxury stay.

Quiet, central location for an authentic Ancient City stay. Extremely friendly and helpful staff (even in the absence of any English language). They arranged train station pickup and drop off and transporting our bags inside the wall to the property which was appreciated.

Sleeping on a bed of bricks with a 2 inch futon type mattress was part of the authentic experience I guess, so don’t expect a great deal of comfort.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful old mansion in a very fascinating courtyard. Feels like a fable. Comfy enough considered the style and antiquity. Staff is very nice, even if they don’t speak a word of english (as usual in these parts of China), they helped us in every way they could, using a translator.

You have to be aware that the traditional bed is basically a thin mattress over bricks. It’s not for everyone’s back. But it adds to the experience!

The room and Court yard were absolutely stunning, it was like a movie set. I had everything i could possibly need already provided, and there lovely little extras like a tea pot and cups. The staff were lovely, and I was picked up from the station and at the town walls, brought the rest of the way on a scooter. It was amazing.

The hotel locates inside the old town. A perfect location if you want to tour around Ping Yao. The owner provided detail information about the town and made good suggestions about what to see and where to eat. Comfortable room, good ambience. There are several breakfast shops near the inn, which are very convenient. The inn is conveniently located on the main street.

Staying at Pingyao Ji Family Courtyard Inn in Pingyao was a truly memorable and wonderful experience for me. The hotel has been brilliantly refurbished and equipped with modern hotel amenities (e.g air conditioning, modern toilets and showers, etc) in a manner that makes it extremely comfortable and convenient, yet without lessening the authentic, old feel which makes it so appealing.I feel it was the exceptional hospitality and genuine friendliness of the staff that made my stay so great.

Staff were very friendly and helpful even with limited English. Organised taxis to and from train station. Location excellent, beautiful courtyard, and all clean. Great Chinese traditional furniture in room but it’s all very dark brown, so makes the room look/feel dark.

The only negative is that the windows cannot open, so u need the door open to get fresh air in room.

It is a very old building that has been modified and renovated into an hotel. Lovely outside courtyards for relaxing. The rooms are comfortable with enormous beds. In a quiet area of the city but within walking distance of most places. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Varies activities and transport can be organised by staff.

The best hotel I have ever stayed in. Amazing location, right in the center of ancient town of Pingyao but still very quiet. The room is very beautiful, clean and there is all you need for a comfortable stay. Ji is amazing. I highly recommend a short or longer stay at the Ji Family Courtyard Inn.

The hotel is a very nice place. The courtyards around which the guest rooms are located give the whole hotel a familiar and friendly atmosphere. It it beautiful, calm, very clean and all the staff are trying the best to support the guests. Highlight of our visit to China. We loved Pingyao and were delighted by the hotel.
