Overall this was great experience. The location and house is quite unique and special, and the view was endlessly fascinating.The breakfast is delicious and plentiful, some of the fruits were new to us and it was great to be able to sample them. The room is large and comfortable, the little sitting room area with oceanview windows is so handy to sit and write and just dream! Cheryl and Everett are great hosts and answered our many questions about the area and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Cannot recommend this highly enough as both an accommodation and an experience. A wonderful jumping-off point for the volcano area.

Absolutely nothing! All our needs were answered here and we really enjoyed it all.

The big, beautiful room, the sound of the waves just below the huge open windows, the delicious breakfasts, the lending library, and the incredibly hospitable and informative hosts made our stay so special. The bed was comfortable and spotlessly clean, the room was quiet, and bonus reading room with the full view of the ocean was our favorite spot to hang out. We slept so soundly with the windows wide open to the sounds of the ocean.

We were incredibly grateful for the ceiling fan and extra fan in the room. The heat and humidity were both a bit high, but that's nature, not the B&B. And, it was still 20 degrees cooler than at home, so no complaints.

Our stay was one of the best highlights of our vacation to Hawai'i. The beautifully restored and tastefully updated 1920's house is located right on the edge of Hilo's business and restaurant district. It sits right on the waterfront. Our room had a king bed and a sitting area with a view of the bay; it also had a bathroom with shower. Dark wood furnishings complement the décor with nostalgic taste. The breakfasts were tasty and tastefully served. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Truly, this is a gem. We'll definitely stay here again.

We're from New England and visited Hilo in early May ... our cool (cold) Spring compared to Hilo's warm humidity certainly biased our perceptions. Evenings in our room were quite humid, as you would expect from the location right on the bay. The ceiling fan moved the air in our room quite nicely. Nevertheless, I became too warm while sleeping. The mattress absorbed and retained my body's heat. I tossed and turned to keep cool. I think this criticism, be it ever so slight, is more my issue than the room's. I certainly do NOT think A/C should be installed. I know the owners have another property further up-slope that might serve better for guests who think they may be discomfited by sleeping above the shore.

The B&B is in a fantastic location, a very quick walk into town, but with the ocean literally on your doorstep. Our beautiful room backed right on the ocean and it was wonderful going to sleep with the sounds of waves. Every morning the cooked breakfast was delicious, and we really appreciated the useful shelves in the B&B filled with snacks, useful pamphlets, bug spray and sunscreen. Our hosts were very friendly and gave fantastic recommendations on things to see and do during our stay in Hilo. We would highly recommend a stay here!

Nothing, all was perfect!

My wife and I booked this vacation only a couple of weeks ago. With the holiday rush approaching our lodging options were limited, so I was thrilled to find an available room at the Hilo Bay Oceanfront B&B. We chose it mainly because it was available, but felt like we found the best B&B on the island! Tomomi and Brian were superb hosts. They were always available to answer questions and offer suggestions for things to see and do. There were amenities, like drinks and snacks, that were beyond anything we had expected. Breakfast was fabulous. The view from our room was magnificent. The building has the charm of an old place (we loved the woodwork), but is maintained to modern standards. This will definitely be our first choice the next time we are in Hilo.

Hilo Oceanside B&B is one of the nicest places I've ever stayed anywhere. True to its name, our (large) room was literally at oceanside, with crashing surf filling the view on three sides of its comfortable sitting area, Out hosts went above and beyond to be accommodating, even lending us snorkeling equipment. A good breakfast, plenty of free parking, and a location walking distance from downtown Hilo completes the picture of a perfect place to stay. I would book this B&B again in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone visiting Hilo.

Nothing - it was perfect

The room we chose was on the corner of the house right at the edge of the ocean. We listened to the surf and the gentle chirping of frogs as we slept it was spacious, clean, high ceiling, comfortable and clean private bathroom. Host provided snacks for later times of day, as well as a very generous breakfast. They also give good advice for seeing the sights. We are glad we chose this location to stay for our visit to the Big Island.

This BnB is beautiful. It is right on the water, ocean was directly below us . Beautiful views of boats and surfers from our window. we arrived with a stack of wet clothes from our volcano hike, our hosts Bryan and Toomei had them washed and dried that night even though we arrived late. Breakfast was wonderful, coconut pancakes were amazing

Walking distance to downtown (we did walk to dinner one night) but wish it was a little bit closer to restaurants

Brian and his wife were amazing hosts providing us with lots of ideas and tips re what to do. Breakfast was amazing (can basically have anything you’d like!), provided a beautiful fruit plate, juice, tea/coffee. The macadamia and coconut pancakes were amazing. Everything is there for you for a great stay - beach towels, binoculars and headlamps for visiting the volcano, umbrellas, boogie boards, snacks, fresh fruit… you name it - nothing is a problem!

A great place right at Hilo Bay, a few minutes walking from downtown Hilo. I had a great room consisting of a kingsize bed and a nice sitting area. The room is overlooking Hilo Bay. The waves sing you into your sleep. The room was very clean. There is a daily housekeeping. Free coffee, tea, water and snacks are available for the guests around the clock. Great breakfast, you can choose between many options. I went for the mac-pancakes, just delicious. A nice fruit plate was served as kind of a starter. Laundry is included in the price and is done for you. An absolutely great place.
