The property is up on a nice hill over looking part of the city and ocean. The room was clean and comfortable. The projector TV was an awesome touch. There was a relatively good sized lizard we ended up naming “Edgar” that would come out of nowhere and hangout with us. The management crew was very nice and the process to check in/out was very simple. Would come back

Parking can be tricky if you aren’t like Ken Block behind the wheel but is doable. One of my friends gotten a noise complaint for sitting on the balcony outside around midnight. The officer said they mentioned something about music, there was no music and the officer said “I don’t hear any thing, have a goodnight” and just left so I assume this is a common occurrence here. Other than the property is awesome and very unique.

Beautiful views overlooking the bay in Hilo. It was warm in Hilo, and the ocean breeze on the property was nice. The house and the property outside are beautiful and romantic. It worked out well for my family, as we used all four rooms, and each one had its own bathroom, microwave, fridge, and coffee maker.

There was some miscommunication leading up to our stay. I rented all four rooms, not realizing that the rooms inside the property are all rented out separately, so the paperwork was broken up oddly. Not really a big deal though. I would want to know that it's just a room if I was just staying with my wife. Also, the chickens out back are cool, but I would want a heads up about the roosters. They didn't bother me, but some people might want to have their headphones nearby.

Shower water pressure was very weak (possibly the room I stayed only?) Chickens at the backyard make loud noise during night times... it was quite annoying. A/C is equipped, but it was making too much wind noise since the cooling capacity was not sufficient for the size of the room I guess? But it doesn't mean the room was too warm or hot. A/C did work properly, except for the loud noise.

The views of Hilo were stunning. The room was spacious and clean.

There isn’t much soundproofing, so sometimes it was easy to hear other guests. The bed was also not as comfortable as we would have liked, probably because we’re used to memory foam we have at home.

wonderful place to stay in hilo, from our terrace we had both ocean view and Mauna Kea view.beautiful for an evening drink there. all basic cutlery and even paper plates available, bed was big and comfy, room very spacious with a large window and amazing view upon waking up very smooth check-in and check-out, no need to carry around keys

we liked everything about our stay...maybe just that a heavy suitcase is a bit of a challenge to get up that many stairs :-)

We really enjoyed our stay here at the Hilltop, it was comfortable, homey and clean. Great views of the bay and walkable to downtown. Really wish we could have stayed longer! Our only sort of complaint was the large tub took a while to fill and barely had enough hot water for it, the shower must have been on its own system (seemingly endless hot water).

I loved the Kona coffee. Everything was exceptional! We’ll come back. Plus I’ll recommend it to my friends. The stay was awesome. From chickens cat and landscaping was beautiful. Loved the balcony. We drove around the entire island. Stayed many hotels yours was the beast place offering privacy and beautiful views. Awesome experience!

The location and views were excellent. It's a great spot to sit outside and enjoy a beer in the late afternoon. From Hilltop we were a few minutes walk (downhill) to central Hilo and in under an hour drive to the Mauna Kea observatory, Waipi'o, Kalapan and Volcanoes National Park. The house was very clean and there was option for a daily room service. The resident cat was a wonderful host and one who, I like to think, became a good friend.

There is very limited facility to cook and prepare your own food, which isn't the end of the world but means more waste in packaging should you want to eat at Hilltop. We took a lot of our rubbish with us, which we had already become used to doing on the island so it was no big deal. Incredible top of the hill view of Hilo Bay and Mauna Kea. Beautiful grounds, comfortable room and helpful host who created me on arrival and carried my bags!

Need to get some more comfortable couches in the outdoor space and ditch the rooster and florescent outdoor lighting.

Great location, fabulous views,lovely outdoor area, bird song,and the 2 friendly roosters and the cats.Owner and staff were very helpful and very responsive.

There was nothing that we didn't like.Took a while to get used to the coaqui frogs.
