Perfect location to visit VNP. Very quiet, in lovely rainforest-like setting. Room was a good size. They delivered breakfast the day before with instructions on how to warm it up in the microwave (unit was equipped with microwave, minifridge, coffeemaker and electric kettle). This worked well, so you can eat at your convenience and get an early start out to the park. It was about 2 miles from the park, so easy to come and go. There also was a lounge type space that had a Keurig, soft drinks and snacks. We hat dinner at the Rim restaurant which was ok, really enjoyed dinner our at the Kilauea Lodge Restaurant nearby.

Great location - less than 2 miles to Volcano Village and Volcano National Park. Our modern, quiet, very comfortable and well appointed room was nestled in the rainforest. There is a short rainforest walk, just 20 steps from our door, full of colorful blooms and tree ferns! Our room opened onto a little sitting patio overlooking the pretty garden. The hosts have thought of everything - is a common sitting room where coffee, etc is always available and lots of information about the area attractions. Breakfasts were delicious - homemade banana bread, frittatas, tropical fruits.

This is a true B&B, a wonderful property with character and history, and a superb job by the owners to make it a special place. Very quiet, serene grounds, clean room. Excellent breakfast, the banana bread in particular was exceptional! Wonderful property, wish we could have stayed more than just one night. Highly recommended and if we visit Volcano again, we will surely stay at Hale 'Ohu!

Another night or 2 here would've been great, but our travel schedule wouldn't allow for it

Having the breakfast available in the fridge each day was very convenient. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. I might have preferred having more breakfast choices (we were there two nights and would like to have been able to try breakfasts 3 or 4, for example), but the quality of the breakfasts was great. The location is perfect for Volcanos NP, and there are a few places to eat in the area that are pretty good. The B&B property is very pretty and has some historic charm. Parking was very convenient to the room.

The tradeoff with in-room breakfast is not meeting other travelers around the breakfast table.

Great location! The back yard is beautiful, looks like something out of a movie. You really feel like you are the only people staying there. Also the beds are heated :) The bathroom is nice too. We appreciated the provided breakfast a lot, especially the guava juice. If you come at night it is extremely dark but they provide very detailed instructions which helps. Maybe come before sundown if you can.

The location was excellent if you want to explore Volcano NP. Restaurants, visitors centre all close by. Car park included. Spotlessly clean. Best shower we have had in Hawaii. The freezer was a real bonus for us. Friendly hosts. Great gardens. Lovely variety of breakfast. I could go on. Highly recommend and we would return

Nice location more or less in the center of the village, a large parklike well maintained garden in front of the room and a small rainforest trail on the property. Several restaurants and two general stores in walking distance. The Volcano National Park is just a five minutes drive away. The room as well as the wash room were very clean. There is a daily housekeeping. Breakfast for the next day is put in your fridge by the housekeeping. It consists of an egg-dish, some sweet component (e.g. banana-bread), fruit or yoghurt and juice. There is a coffee maker in the room. The queen bed is very comfortable and can be heated. This is true for the room as well. Everything is nice an clean. There are a few nice gadgets like show-polish or a makeup-cleaning set. The lanai is small but nice and the best place to have your breakfast in the morning or a glass of wine in the late afternoon.

Lovely place to stay both in amenities and grounds with beautiful flowers. Close to Volcano National Park. The bed was comfortable and they had little touches not found in other places like a heated mattress pad which was great after a full day of walking in the rain and getting soaked. Gabrielle’s breakfast were beautiful to look at as well as eat. Nicole was so friendly we felt like we knew her well. Very welcoming place to stay, would highly recommend and would stay again when back in Hawaii.

It is in a beautiful setting with lovely old growth forest, flowers, & plants. It felt very peaceful & comfortable.

Getting there late in the rain & wind had its share of difficulties. Of course none of this can be controlled by the owners.

We loved our stay at this B&B. The location is perfect for visiting the Volcano National Park and the sisters running it are super nice and very good at what they do. The room and bathroom were very clean with views to a beautiful bamboo grove, breakfasts were tasty with great variety, and the outside tropical garden and rainforest walk were one of the highlights of our stay. We fell asleep to birds singing every night.
