We stayed at the Lodge for 3 nights and fall in love immediately. The staff was very friendly, the room was absolutely cute and perfectly cleaned and the dinner at the Lodge was excellent (you should try the Volcanoes wine made in the area!). Drinking water and parking were for free. The location was great, since we were there for hiking in the Volcanoes National Park, which is only 5-10 mins drive away. You can use the fire place in the common area for free and enjoy a relaxing evening. There is no TV in the room, which we loved. Time to talk and read a book. A rain forest nature trail belongs to the Lodge's area as well.
Nothing to complain about!

The setting in a rain forest and the room decor and the proximity to Volcanoes National Park.
The fact that you could not brush your teeth or wash your face with the tap water. There was a large bottle of cold water in the bathroom. The fact that the restaurant had a very limited number of mains at dinner -- so if you were staying several days as we did, there was nothing new to order. There should at least be nightly specials. The breakfast omelet was excellent. However, it did not come with toast. I paid for a side order of toast and was astonished that it comprised only one piece of toast!

The location was great for travelling to the Volcano Park. We didn't have breakfast but dinner was great the night prior. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the fish we had and its source. When we traveled there were many small earthquakes one of which did open our eyes a little, but we were assured by the staff this was nothing to worry about.
Unfortunately there were no TV's in the room, which normally wouldn't have been an issue, but I was very keen to watch the European Championship football (soccer) game very early in the morning on the Sunday. Its not really the hotels thought as no where did they say their rooms had TV's but it would have been nice. I guess most people don't travel there to stay in and watch TV and I don't normally to be fair.

Beautiful property, close to Volcano Park. Wonderful restaurant. Nice hiking trails and hottub, but we didn’t have a chance to use them.
I would have liked the room to be cleaned, towels and coffee refreshed. There is a texting app, so I could have asked…Coffee in the room wasn’t great - seems standard which is surprising considering Kona coffee is grown on the Big Islans.

Located in the heart of Volcano and just minutes to the Visitors Centre. The staff are just so welcoming - from pre-arrival communication to in-person interactions. The rooms are well appointed and so comfy - we just wished we had put on the fire in our room but we did enjoy the fire and looking at all the details of the Friendship fireplace at the on-site restaurant. The restaurant carried on the theme - great personal service and comfort food. My teen said that the tomato soup was the best meal they had on our 3 week Hawaiian adventure. The gift shop also has some really unique items that make fabulous mementos to take home.
The weather stopped us taking advantage of the grounds. The only recommendation I would have is I wish you could order some to-go breakfast items if you have an early departure time.

Amazingly friendly, helpful, and warm staff. Excellent location for visiting Volcanoes National Park. Rooms were thoughtfully set-up with 5-gallon drinking water provided, ample pillows, blankets, and towels. With the wonderful staff and keyless entry and text support, just the right balance of technology with a human touch was struck.
The wifi was a bit spotty at times

Amazing location, so close to the volcano. Rooms were very cute and staff were super friendly and helpful. Drinking water provided in the rooms and a fridge
The rooms at the front are pretty noisy … if you can get a room at the back of the property. Also the doors don’t lock automatically, you have to lock them yourself (which doesn’t seem to happen in the communal area at the back)

Loved the historic feel and history. Enjoyed the nature walk and the hot tub was so nice after a day of hiking and driving. The fireplace was a nice touch at night. The staff was helpful and the food great at the restaurant. Convenient location to the national park, and I got to go to the volcano at night. The staff was very kind and helpful.
Everything was great.

The location is beautiful, in the middle of nature and with a big garden. The room had a gas fireplace, which was nice for the chilly nights. The lodge is only a 5 minutes drive away from the Volcanoes National Park.
The queen bed is comfy, but a bit too narrow for two people. Breakfast was good, but the menu could have a few more choices like toast with butter and jam and some fruits.

All around excellent experience. I stayed in an upstairs fireplace room for one night. I was referred to stay here by a gentleman working at the Kilauea Winery. My room was charming with a lot of windows, comfy bed, high ceilings, lovely gas fireplace and hot shower. I had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and it was superb! The wood burning fireplace was an absolute delight during dinner too. I enjoyed the staff. They were all super sweet, friendly and helpful. They communicated with you via text to make sure all your questions are answered and I had all I needed. The jacuzzi and 1/2 mile hike on property were wonderful too! I can't wait to return! Also, 5 minutes from the park! Easy come/go stay while exploring the park too!
