Staying here really felt like being part of a family! The host is extremely welcoming, people will have breakfast in the dining room whenever they feel like it and still there's the privacy of your own room. It's an amazing place. One thing that I'd like to mention is the exceptionally well done labeling of everything in the house, so you will know immediately how to deal with whatever situation you're in. That was very useful when I arrived late in the night. Also, a big shout out for the Host Diana, who did go through a lot to help me out with some company issues I had. That was awesome and it saved me a lot of trouble!

The location of the house was perfect, many shops nearby, though next to a major street it was quite noisy during mornings. Kitchen was fairly equipped, the 2 bedrooms were ok to sleep. Parking places were also enough.

The a/c units were quite noisy, mainly haven't used those, however without that the 3rd unit on the top couldn't be used at all. Noise insulation was also quite thin between the appartments - could easily hear our neighbourghs heavy snooring...

From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with a botanical garden setting. The owner Diana gives you a very warm welcome with an impressive smile. Her hospitality is all about attention to detail and comfort. We stayed in the studio at the rear of the property. A true home away from home with all the privacy and necessities you will need. I look forward to a return visit.

The house is amazing and Diana is so kind and nice. We had great talkings with her, I wish I had stayed longer. She is generous and helpful. We had a late check in and She waited for us. The room is nice and despiste we shared the bathroom it was clean during all our stay. The situation of the house is just 10min away from Hilo and close to the Volcanoes National Park. I would defenitly recommend you to go there.

Everything was perfect

TL;DR: super comfy, clean, and cozy; and on top of all, a wonderful owner. My best BnB experience to date. Have you ever been in this dilemma before: you love a place so much that you want everyone to know so the business would thrive, but at the same time, you want to keep it a secret and keep all of it to yourself just in case it gets too busy? That's how I feel about Hawaiian Ohana Home. Cosy, homey and clean, this place is a hidden gem nested in a residential area in Hilo, away from all the noise and bustling commercial area, yet it's within minutes of drive to the busy area of the town. Sitting on a gentle slope, Hawaiian Ohana Home also offers a great view of the surrounding area. However, what makes Hawaiian Ohana Home truly exceptional is its owner, Diana. I struggle to put it in words; in short, Diana is like that cool aunt that I never had: although we've only met, it felt like I came to visit a beloved family member. I could tell that other guests shared my feeling based on the atmosphere around the table at breakfast times, it felt like a family reunion. During my trip in Hawaii, I've learned that "ohana" means "family", and Hawaiian Ohana Home certainly is true to its name. If I'll drop by Hilo again, I know where I'll be staying at.

I booked the studio (located in the garden) on short notice, and was pleasantly surprised by it. It was extremely clean, and equipped with a small kitchen (microwave).

The lighting in the kitchen was a little dim. Also it would have been nice if the credit card fees (3%) would have been advertised on the listing.

Private room was comfortable and with a well-equipped kitchen, clean bathroom and living area. Aside from the chirping of the coqui frogs at night, which I don't mind, it was quiet, no loud sounds and minimal traffic noise. The landscaping around the property gave a nice rural, country-like feel, very pleasant and lush.

Amazing 9 days stay at this beautiful accomodation. We immediately felt like home and received the most warm welcome of Diana, the owner. The rooms and bathroom are nice and comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped, we didn’t miss anything. Thanks again for the extraordinary stay, we will forever remember your delicious oatmeal and the home grown fruits.

When booking we weren’t sure how convenient it’d be to share the kitchen and bathroom. But we felt so comfortable there. Diana was an amazing host, we felt like visiting relatives. It was also cool to meet other people who stayed there. The house itself is very pretty and cozy.

I liked that it was private

Everything was great. But, I didn’t like that the pathway to the studio was really dark at night. I used my cel phone light for guidance and it definitely helped. But, maybe some lights along the pathway might help with the safety of future guests.
