Our stay at Visnes Hotel Stryn felt like a peaceful journey back in time. The hotel has a cozy and bright atmosphere that reminded me of staying at my grandmother’s house – warm, welcoming, and full of charm. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We arrived very early due to our bus schedule, and the staff kindly let us leave our luggage even before check-in time, which was a big help as it was raining and nothing nearby was open. The staff was incredibly kind and thoughtful throughout our stay. Highly recommended for those who love nature and authentic Norwegian charm.

If I could wish for one thing, it would be a bit more variety at breakfast — but overall, it was a lovely and heartwarming stay.

1- Very helpful and polite owner at the front desk. He really made a great effort to make our stay great 2- Great location. Clean rooms with fresh clean towels and nice collection of soap and lotion. The family room in the barn was newly built and smells fresh wood sandal 3- The hotel is a big vintage style house that looks like the ones from the victorian era. This makes it really charming 4- We experienced some minor technical issues in one of the two rooms we booked, but the moment we informed the owners at the front desk, they resolved them all very quickly. Very attentive and responsive owners

1- Hotel buildings have no AC. I would not consider it important since weather in western Norway is cool all year long and opening the window can make the room temperature suitable. However, noise from the near road was annoying 2- Breakfast can be improved a little bit. For example, having more hot dishes and more varieties will make breakfast very good

Beautiful charming hotel, rooms match the old world charm. Breakfast was really delicious with tons of options, the onsite restaurant was lovely and good wine on offer. The owners and staff are so friendly and eager to make your stay wonderful.

Its an old building which means lots of creaking floorboards which would normally be fine but the people in the room above us were up and walking around their room all night, but especially from 4am-7am and it was so noisy and kept me awake. Not something the hotel could've predicted/prevented but just a note

The hotel has so much character and charm and the staff is extremely helpful. The rooms were large and we really liked free parking right at the hotel. The breakfast was great with lots of choices and good coffee. What was really surprising was the delicious dinner they served, the best meal we had in our 14 day visit to Norway, yet at a great price. We would not hesitate to strongly recommend this hotel and will stay here again if our travels take us to Stryn.

The only issue we had was the lack of an elevator, however the hotel staff took our bags to the room and back down again when we left. For us, this was not a problem.

Outstanding in every way. Think of a large chain hotel and then think the opposite. The hotel has been run since 1850s but carefully renovated without removing the quaint old style vibe. From the moment you walk in it feels like home (as it has been in the last to Royalty). No issue for us, but there are only stairs so you will need to carry your bags up. Great drying room if you need it. The rooms are lovely - spotlessly clean, lovely little balcony and large bathroom/shower with excellent shower pressure. There is a super nice trail that runs from behind the hotel with lovely view along the way. Not very challenging but a lovely walk - maybe and hour is so up and back. Easy to get to more challenging hikes - just ask at reception. We did the walk to Raksetra (drive 10mins and maybe 90 mins round trip with spectacular views of the fjord from the top. The dinner we had was exceptional with service to match. Exceptional. Breakfast was also superb. Plenty of choice - Norwegian, freshly baked breads, if you want, eggs and bacon done just right and pastries, high quality condiments etc. We wish we could have stayed for longer.

the hotel is super charming and very well maintained, in a great central location. the owners are absolutely wonderful, very attentive to our needs and gave us lots of great tips. the chef even made special dishes to meet our dietary needs.

Hotel Visnes is beautiful and the owners have done so much to update it but still keep the old Norway charm. It is a treasure, very comfortable and cozy. We loved going to our room with all the old antiques and pictures in the hallway. The breakfast was one of the best we had during our two weeks in Norway and the owners are so helpful with everything. They worked with us on our room choice, our lost luggage and everything else we needed. The sitting room and family room downstairs is really nice and unique hang out space. The food is terrific.

Nothing - we loved it.

We stayed with a family of four in a family room in the barn. The rooms were very spacious, new and clean. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building with a very good restaurant. The hotel is located close to Loen and Olden, with lots of things to do.

The hotel is located close to the fjord but between the fjord and the hotel is a road and a parking lot of a truck company, which isn’t ideal for the view.

The management and ALL staff were outstanding. Plenty of parking space for those with cars. Good base for visiting the many sites in this region, ie, day trips. In house restaurant was excellent. We stayed in plenty of other properties in Norway, of various types, and this was by far at the top in terms of quality.

The location is great and staffs so nice and kind , the owners were so friendly with customers , i really enjoy staying in hotel although it is antique with furnitures .

Due to old furnitures , the cabinet in my room had smell of wood …. Which i avoid putting my clothes inside….
