The rooms are simple (in keeping with the theme of the motel) but decorated in spot-on period style. For example, our room had a couple of midcentury modern chairs and a great-looking coffee table. There were even some vintage magazines to leaf through (Saturday Evening Post, for example) and an in-house radio station playing through the clock radio in the room to enhance the midcentury vibe.
There's no breakfast service per se, just free coffee and tea , plus a few packaged pastries (donuts, twinkies, etc.). It would have been great to have some decaf coffee available, as well as some real milk or cream/half & half (there was only CoffeeMate, which could actually be construed as keeping with the vintage vibe of the place :).

We left too early to enjoy any amenities, but we loved this place. Kudos to David for renovating this motel to make us feel like we were there in the 1960s. Please plan a trip to Tucumcari and visit the Road Runner Lodge Motel - it will not disappoint. While you are there, make sure you stop for food and a drink at Del's - Staff was amazing - They have a salad bar that I have missed, and it was an absolute delight. Highly recommend.
Not one thing!

Can’t speak for breakfast because I was off to work about an hour before it was served.buy the lady at the front desk was very nice and even gave me some history about the place.its not like those motels that have paper thin walls either the place was full and I never heard anyone talking or anything so it was quite peaceful.it was for sure a great experience and look forward to staying here again.
No refrigerator in the room.

Loved the retro furnishings and the sixties vibe from the radio playing in the room to the record player supplied. Big comfortable bed and pillows. Laundry facilities. Plus a Mountain View
The only thing I didn’t like and this is a personal thing . It had a proper room key and I found it challenging after all the plastic keycards. But so much better for the environment

David at the front desk went above and beyond when we realized we were not going to arrive before the lobby closed. The entire property has even the smallest detail correct. Having traveled a great deal during the 1960s with my family, staying in motor courts, my memory kicked into high gear.
Not a single thing. Perfect stay.

Beautifully, restored! They have a radio playing old 1960s music and commercials on in your room! They put moon pies for all my kids out next to the radio! Classic cars decorate the parking lot, making adorable photo ops!
The bathroom vent fan needs repaired. The room got hot and humid after showers.

This is a motel built around 1950 but with attention to detail and great personality it feels fresh and comfy. The make a real effort to let you know that your dogs are welcome and not just tolerated. The fenced and lighted dog yard is a real bonus. Lots of pillows on the beds and the bedding appears to be pressed. Nice!!
It’s a bit off the beaten path and has the tiniest bathroom but that isn’t really a big deal.

Everything! We absolutely loved our stay here! Roadrunner Lodge Motel is located on the original Route 66, and offers a backwards glimpse of a simpler time. We didn’t want to leave this very happy place-owners CJ and David made sure of that! Both are very welcoming and totally committed to their guests.
There was nothing we didn’t like.

Fun historic property on old Route 66. Completely refurbished in 60’s style with a few modern upgrades. A great place to stay in Tucumcari. The Moon Pies in the room are a sweet touch. Across the street from Kix 66 restaurant, wonderful food!
The night stands are a bit small, but they work.

From the first communication to arrival, to our stay, and to checking out at the front desk, the experience was exceptional. They have added just enough special touches to take you back to the 1960s to put a smile on your face and in your heart.
