Everything was just perfect! Staff: The staff members were truly wonderful: kind, helpful, and thoughtful at every step. They made me feel welcome and well taken care of throughout my stay. Cleanliness: Top hygiene! The entire room was spotless: from the walls and floors to the cupboards, bed, bathroom, and toilet. Everything looked and smelled freshly cleaned and well-maintained. Comfort: There was running hot water at all times, and the air conditioning kept the room comfortably cool, even during the hotter parts of the day. Safety & Atmosphere: As a solo traveler, I felt safe and at home here. The warm environment and respectful staff really made a difference. Overall: An excellent experience. Clean, comfortable, and supported by genuinely kind staff. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others! Their restaurant serves amazing dishes! And staff really pays attention to your likes and dislikes.

All the EKHO properties i've stayed did not disappoint me.

A superb hotel with outstanding service. The staff did everything to correct a small booking issue, and this turned out to be the best hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka. The setting, right in front of the lake and at the entrance of the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, is simply incredible. Service was top-notch, the food very good, and both the Sri Lankan and Western breakfasts were excellent. We also enjoyed a very pleasant evening with live, relaxing music at dinner. Truly luxurious, with all the comfort you would expect from a hotel of this standard. Everything was just wonderful.

Nothing negative to mention. Just be aware that the Sri Lankan breakfast is quite spicy — avoid it if you don’t like chili, but go for it if you do!

We loved the room, it was spacious and had everything we needed. The staff made us feel like we were the only ones there. The view is gorgeous. The location is right in the middle of everything you want to see, and the best restaurants were only a cheap tuktuk trip away. The breakfast was delicious and more than enough. The dinner was very nice. We were very well taken care of. Oh and the pool was lovely. It’s very windy most of the time, but this keeps you cool in the serious heat.

I suppose the area at the back with the view feels a bit communal as anyone staying in the hotel can eat or drink there, but I suppose you need to book the Queen’s Suite if you want complete privacy! Not an issue, just an observation.

Fantastic location overlooking lake and adjacent to the ancient city of Polennarura. Small hotel - 15 rooms - and all the rooms had a lake view. Very good attention to detail and service Large room with AC, coffee maker and all working appliances. Fantastic view. Good choice of food on menu eg.10 types of fruit on a plate for breakfast. Good live music with dinner.

Very little. It was a lovely place to stay We were given a good discount by booking.com otherwise it would probably have been unaffordable. It would have been good if the hotel could have sent us details about visiting the ancient city, and possibly made a deal with them about access. The infinity pool was well sited but rather small, as were the gardens.

The location is beautiful and very convenient to see Polonaruwa Ancient City. The food at the restaurant is great (if overpriced), the bed and room are super comfortable and the shower is good. The pool and massages are really nice also.

The place is a bit run down. The staff is friendly but not the most efficient: having breakfast took over 1h even though we ordered everything at once and mentioned we wanted to leave soon for sightseeing... also we were the only ones having breakfast at that time so it really makes no sense. Plus some of the breakfast order came wrong (or never came). Overall I'd say the price is really misadjusted to the service, the place is nice, but not 200€ a night nice

Lovely lakeside location with sunset terrace. Unique pool overlooking lake with overhanging tree. Beautifully furnished and decorated. Very comfortable room and excellent shower. Fluffy towels. Cracking breakfast. Most convenient for the archaeological site - ticket office/museum and gorgeous Island Park are both next door. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. You can spot the odd elephant across the lake from the terrace. Absolutely loved it.

Relatively expensive, but there are clear reasons why.

The Ekho lake house is an amazing space with the perfect location for visiting Pollonaruwa. It is immediately close to the ticket office, has a classic architecture perfectly suited to the lake and classical Sri Lankan / British style that has been maintained with love and attention. Our entire group was impressed with the facility, and the superior service at mealtimes. Special thanks to Isuru for all the great support for our group and accommodating our needs.

This is possibly the best hotel in Sri Lanka. With only 14 rooms it is quiet and serene. It overlooks the lake and is close to the town and the ruins. The rooms are simple but elegant and nothing is too much trouble for the amazing staff. The breakfast is exceptional and I have to say that I felt like royalty which is quite fitting since Queen Elizabeth II once stayed here. It is a privilege to stay in this exquisite hotel.

Nothing everything was perfect

The view, location, facilities, staff, pool, and breakfast were all amazing. This was our one and only "fancy" hotel during our 2 week stay - and it was a welcome break from other budget "hotels".

The carpet in the room looked super stained. It would be better to strip the carpet in complete and have some area rugs near the bed and couch area. Water at dinner was charged (a small water bottle - which was charged at 4 times the price of the same bottle bought at the local shops).

The EKHO Lake Hotel is the best place to stay in Polonnaruwa. It is full of charm and history and in a perfect location, right on the lake and next door to the Museum and entrance to the Ancient City, and from where you can walk or cycle. The rooms are very large and very comfortable, equipped with everything you could need. Meals at the restaurant are delicious and the staff very friendly and obliging.
