Very good budget accommodation, the pool was amazing to cool off in during and after the very hot days! Rooms & bathrooms are very clean. Lots of nice spots to relax around the pool & garden, we loved the hammocks. There are many cool creatures around the resort including squirrels, peacocks, eagles & butterflies. Breakfast buffet was great and filling, with many options. We also ate at the resort every night & recommend the vegetable curry! You can also meet other guests at meal times. Owners & staff were very helpful, especially Thanu & his mother who went out of their way to help me with keeping my medication cold in their fridge & while travelling (thank you so much!!) If any insects in your room, the staff can also help you to get it out if it bothers you (I am scared of geckos so the staff helped to remove one for me). Staff also helped us with local transport & recommended good local restaurants. Ask them if you need to arrange any transport or tours :)

We loved this accommodation. A family run hotel, well cared for, very restful, comfortable and felt at home rather than a guest as we stayed several nights. The swimming pool was a great addition, clean, a good size and loungers and umbrellas for shade. The restaurant provided a buffet breakfast, simple snacks (and wonderful fresh fruit juices) and an evening meal. Ask for the curry which they do some evenings. A great introduction to all the different meat/vegetable dishes that accompany the rice. Plentiful portions. Very helpful for visits to the National Park and Polonnaruwa.

I liked everything in this property, and it is exceptional value for money. Polonnaruwa is a busy place, but the property is about 200 m down a side street, and you hear no noise. You are surrounded by fields, in a green environment. There is a big swimming pool, and the garden is absolutely stunning. Hammocks and little stone tables and chairs and other seating areas all around. A labour of love. When you go to breakfast, in the early morning, you see an employee cleaning the pool. I strongly recommend booking the deluxe room, which is in a bungalow with own terrace and has direct pool view. The room is spacious and clean, and the air condition is efficient and silent, though it may take an hour to cool the room when the temperature outside is 33 degrees. Tishan is owned and run by a very kind couple and their son, all speaking English. I had rice and fish/vegetable curry twice, and the meals, coming on at least a dozen little plates, is superb. Strongly recommended. For 500 SLK rupied you are taken by tuk-tuk to the excavation side, and you should take, for the same price, a bicycle to reach all the temples; some of the best are 5km from the entrance. Great to return to Tishan and enjoy a cool beer near the pool. For 9,000 SLK rupies, the owners even drove me in their ac car to Sigiriya.

There is nothing I did not like. If I had to make one suggestion: a shower gel dispenser in the bathroom would be good.

Clean and spacious basic rooms with undercover outside seating area. English language TV with a good range of international channels. Good buffet breakfast with a range of European and Sri Lankan foods. Great large, clean pool with helpful and friendly staff. The laundry services was inexpensive and quick.

Just a suggestion a buffet dinner would improve the dinner service. We arrived on the first night around 730pm and we hadn’t preordered, dinner was no longer available. The next night we ordered a Sri Lankan curry (very good) as did other guests it arrived on time. However other guests waited nearly two hours for their food.

A wonderful place - spotlessly clean, beautifully landscaped with lovely plants. Spacious, comfortable room - plenty of hot water for showers, good wifi and a wide terrace. Chairs and loungers around the pool and in the garden, which also has hammocks. Lounge area in the dining room looks out into the gardens - all very peaceful. The food was classic Sri Lankan - breakfast was huge and very tasty, the rice and curry was excellent - 12+ delicious small veg dishes with rice and poppadoms to accompany the curry, or there were alternative dishes along with desserts and fresh juices. Staff were really lovely, helpful and good to talk to. Some way out of town, but such a nice place we didn't want to move, and when we needed it was easy to get TukTuk to the archaeological sites, train station etc.

This is a fantastic place and we loved our two days here. Our room was great and the bed was large and very comfortable. The WiFi worked OK for us - more than enough for emails and browsing, although we did not try streaming. There was a nice patio to relax on and we were right next door to the beautiful pool. The solarium area was equally lovely - all well maintained with lots of hammocks and sunbeds to relax on. Parking was available and was secure. We were grateful for being allowed to check in two hours early and all of the staff were fantastic - they couldn't do enough for you. The food was very tasty, but the portion sizes were huge - we felt guilty leaving so much. Thank you for your kind hospitality.

I suppose the water pressure could have been better for a hot water shower, but it wasn't really a problem.

We really enjoyed our stay here, and wish we had booked for longer. A warm welcome and great hospitality. Amazing, authentic, tasty and nutritious food. Beautiful, calming and relaxing pool area. We were here for only 24 hours, and the hotel staff were really helpful and efficient in organising activities for us, so that we could do both a safari and Polonnaruwa cultural time during our time here. The rooms were fairly basic, but just what we needed. We would highly recommend, and also likely come back again next time we're in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Hard to fault this place. Our double room with a pool view was lovely. We were greeted by a giant hornbill and colourful barbets in the beautiful garden, along with countless other birds and friendly mongooses (mongeeese?). The food was plentiful and excellent, the pool was fabulous, and the staff were really nice. And the rural lanes nearby are well worth exploring. All in all a delightful experience.

Hard to find fault. A kettle in the room would be good, but that's a very minor issue. Overall it was truly lovely.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel, very well managed by the owner’s family and especially the son who is the loveliest host. The garden and the swimming pool are breathtaking - lush and full of flowers and trees. The swimming pool is clean and big. We had a little terrace in front of our room where they brought us lunch after our check in. We enjoyed a nice cold beer next to the pool at night before dinner. Food as well was very good and staff very kind. Room was as described - very comfortable with good AC and mosquito net. Deckchairs were very comfortable as well. The manager also gave us excellent advice on the safari we did from there and organized it for us for a very reasonable price. I would recommend it again and again and again ! If in Polonnaruwa you should book your stay there.

Everything is fantastic. The bed is cozy, AC strong. The garden, swimming pool and other facilities are superb. The staff members are extremely friendly, polite, they helped me with everything. I absolutely enjoyed my stay after I asked for AC (I made a mistake and booked a no-AC room first). You can rent a motorbike at the property to visit the ancient city. Great value for money.

Polonnaruwa is HOT, way hotter than other places in Sri Lanka, especially on windless days. For me, the fan didn't do the trick. The room was hot. Don't make my mistake and book an AC room if you are sensitive to the heat. Otherwise, you can always ask staff to turn on AC for little extra, like I did. Believe me, after visiting the ancient city, you need some cold place to unwind. With AC, all was well.
