Seyara felt like a home away from home from the moment we arrived. The owner of Seyara is funny and kind, and he helped us arrange activities and solve the challenges we had during our stay. We were 8 people, kids and adults travelling together, and Seyara Holiday Resort was everybody's absolute favourite stay in Sri Lanka. The staff where all amazing and helpful, food was delicious, the rooms were very comfortable and the pool was perfect with lots of wildlife inside the garden surrounding the pool.The owner arranged for us to rent bikes that easily took us to the most beautiful places. We strongly recommend this resort, and we can't wait to come back.

Gorgeous hotel very close to Polonnaruwa Ancient City and the perfect place to stay after a sunny day of exploring. The pool is very relaxing and the garden is full of beautiful plants (and some visiting animals like birds and lizards :) ) the staff is super kind, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is great and I had chicken kottu for dinner here which was huge and very tasty. We also had the best juices here :) Bed is comfortable and the room is big, even has a vanity table which was pretty nice. Balcony is also big, with a clothing rack to dry your swimwear a d towel.

The only thing I didn’t like was the bathroom, the door was short so if you are tall, watch your head. The shower wasn’t the best, and I couldn’t make the warm water work, which is mostly fine due to the hot weather, but would have been nice on one of the days. It isn’t the most modern and perfect but altogether it was still fine :)

Welcoming entrance, lovely gardens and pool. Even a carp pond. Room was spacious and clean, comfortable bed. Decor a bit 1980s but food incredible, really delicious genuine Sri Lankan dishes with Western options if you wanted. Egg Hopper and coconut sambol for breakfast yummmm!! Each dish was described and home cooked. Host and all staff helped with directions, bicycles, haircut, washing, taxis. Would recommend highly! Pool was fantastic after a hot day cycling around the ruins.

Some of the decor needed a bit of love and attention but really this was superficial and didn’t affect our enjoyment of our stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sayara Holiday Resort! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Great beds and nice shower. The pool is very nice also: big, clean and layed in a beautiful garden. The breakfast included is plenty and tasteful. We had dinner at Saraya Holiday Resort twice and it was super! Aspeacialy the deviled chicken is super yummy! All the people working at Sayara Holiday Resort where very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend!

Nothing, everything was perfect!

Hard to find much fault . Nice,pool, comfortable rooms, amazing helpful and kind staff. Our breakfasts and dinners were superb. Recommended. Air conditioning worked fine . Bed was comfortable and It was a quiet environment so we all slept well. Wi Fi good. They were able to supply driver accommodation which was appreciated.

The location was a little out of the way. Perfect if you have your own transport. We could have done with a blanket of some kind for the beds. The electric hot water shower was not efficient and did not produce more than tepid water. Other than these small niggles we loved it.

The personnel is kind and friendly and does really its best to put you at ease. The management is very helpful in arranging transportation and providing information. We found the quality and choice of the restaurant food good and didn't have any issue eating dinner there twice. The bed linen were clean and so were the towels. We didn't use the pool, but others did; it certainly looks very nice. And, last but not least, we found the price of the room really competitive.

The structure itself is in need of a renovation. The rooms are basic (that is ok given the price) and the furniture (both in the communal areas and room) is old and shabby. The walls need to be repainted and the bathroom badly needs an upgrade too.

Upon arrival we were treated to a delicious complimentary papaya and banana juice. It was possibly the best drink we’ve ever indulged in. Our room was large with a balcony and the aircon was amazing. Upali and his family were fantastic! This is a family run resort so they really know how to look after their guests. The pool is perfect especially after a long day sight seeing. The staff in the restaurant are the kindest and most helpful people. The delicious home cooked meals were traditional Sri Lankan style, made with a lot of love. We highly recommend this property for its staff and its location.

That we only had one night there, wish we stayed longer! :)

Staff were very helpful and friendly. We had the sri lankan curry on the second night there and it was excellent. The rooms were comfortable and generous size The breakfast was very plentiful and very good. The swimming pool is fantastic in a lovely tropical garden.. Truly great place to stay and value for money.

The place would benefit from updating but wouldn't stop me from returning!

Lovely big room with balcony, air conditioning, mosquito net although not needed. View over tree tops excellent and seating area on second balcony overlooking pool just out of our door. Nice clean room freshly decorated. Breakfast and evening meal were excellent in dinning area by the pool. Staff very friendly and excellent service understood our needs as vegetarian and lovers of Sri Lankan food. Polonnaruwa is very hot an dusty going round sites and the hotel was a welcome oasis each day. Pool quiet and relaxing surrounded by a well established garden. Loved the calming, nature of the owner. He listened, was humorous, friendly and help provided a very relaxing supportive environment. We hired bikes 1,000 lkr each per day via the hotel. This meant we could have them overnight at the hotel and didn't have to walk or get a bus to the bike hire or return them...taking the heat out of bike hire. The owner took me on his scooter to pick up mine as the others were all out with guests, while my husband cycled on his to meet us and exchanged his for a bigger bike. The ancient city and the museum and ticket office are a short and easy cycle from the hotel...we are both near 70 years and it was easy. So location was great. We had one day cycling along the lake and a short day in the ancient city, being specific in what we wanted to see so we could go back and enjoy the pool before we got too hot. Leaving to go to Dambulla the manager at our rquest ordered us a tuk tuk to the bus station as we wanted to get our bags in the bus luggage hold and a good seat.. even though buses stop near the hotel. And he advised us about the price and confirmed with the driver. All the team were so helpful and the atmosphere was warm and friendly which encouraged guests to talk and share helpful info travelling in Sri Lanka.

Guests had written there thanks all over the dinning area walls and pillars on the white walls Think that was sad as it is a lovely building and garden not a hostel. Think a refresh to the white walls and a specific graffiti area would be better, or none and a visitors book. The garden, fish ponds pool and building area very relaxing despite the heat and need promoting as such. Loved the pool and mature garden and enjoyed eating in the dining area. Needs to be kept fresh, white and washed down as Polonnaruwa is hot and dusty. Seyara is a little Oasis.

Our stay at Seyara was short with only a one night stay, but this hotel meet our needs and is priced appropriately. Staff were welcoming from the time we arrived and ensured our needs were met. We stayed in a family room, and the room was spacious whilst basic was clean and comfortable. Our room rate included breakfast and dinner, and my word, the dinner so far would have to be the best Sri Lankan meal we have had on our trip - thank you!

Needs a small fridge in the room, and some minor maintenance within rooms and could make this an even better place to stay.
