Location - amazing, in the middle of the jungle. Keep in mind that it's quite far from the city, however very close to good viewpoints of Sigiriya rock. Staff- extremely nice and helpful. Food - you don't have to go to the city for food, you can order something at the place. Everything was delicious. Price - reasonable for what you get. Houses - very comfortable, nice and clean. It was an unbelievable experience, which we expected and were looking forward to, however remember that you're in the jungle and tree house is quite exposed, you might expect bugs or monkeys to come into the house. You have to keep your things in the drawers and if you're extremely afraid of being in the forest at night, this might not be a place for you.

The most amazing hidden gem! If you’re looking for a jungle hideaway then this is for you! You really experience the full jungle experience. The staff were so friendly and always there to help. Super close to the Rocks too! A short Tuk Tuk ride to the restaurants/bars/shops. Our driver from the airport Mahinda was great and helped us to get around sigiriya and arranged a fabulous visit to a village where we watched a lovely lady prepare us lunch, which was yummy! If you want anything other than water/coffee then bring your own :-) but that wasn’t a problem at all! The negative comments regarding frogs/bugs etc, then I suggest you choose a city break over Sri Lanka as this is the beauty of their country.

We had a very cool experience staying in the treehouse for 2 nights. The treehouse itself is clean and comfortable, the outdoor shower is lovely and listening to the jungle at night was delightful. One night we watched fireflies just above our beds - a pretty unique experience. The staff were very friendly and organised a loris watching walk for us, which was also an amazing experience. The hotel is a little out of the way from the Sigiriya restaurants but it’s a 10 minute tuk tuk journey so all in all I think it was worth it.

This should go without saying but you’re sharing the treehouse with nature - we had a couple of alarming (but in retrospect, hilarious) encounters with nature that did sort of make us feel by the time we left that we were looking forward to a hotel with walls. But that really was just part of the experience we’d signed up for.

A beautiful tree house in the rainforest. It was a great escape from reality. Close tuk tuk ride into Sigiriya town and walking distance to Pidurangala. One of the hotel staff was lovely enough to take us to Lions rock via tuk tuk at 04:45am for sunrise hike. He then came back a few hours later to collect us. We had dinner at the hotel which was nice, they even made me a meal specifically gluten free after I showed my allergen card earlier in the day which I really appreciated. The tree house was amazing and definitely recommend this place as it is a fantastic experience.

Our mosquito net around the bed had a few holes in it so some insects got into the bed. They do not offer any drinks other than water with dinner, this is not necessarily an issue for us as we got a short tuk tuk into Sigiriya for some juice however there was no pre warning of this.

Amazing jungle location, a rustic treehouse, which was exactly what we hoped for. An ecological site that merges with its jungle surroundings, not a 5* hotel. The staff were very helpful and the food was fantastic. We also had a surprise at breakfast when an elephant crashed by!! The wildlife we saw included monkeys, chipmunks, a giant squirrel and on a late night tour we managed to spot several Slender Lorises. We also love the sounds of the jungle and being woken by the many birds singing the dawn chorus.

The lack of phone reception can make it difficult to arrange transport but the staff were very helpful with this.

Amazing jungle location - I walked in the adjoining jungle and found wild elephant dung within 100m, so be cautious about walking in the jungle at dusk (and definitely not at night). Great bird life and peace, a nice walk through some jungle to a nearby temple, and then a short way on the road to the famous Pidurangala rock. The staff, under the exceptional Dhammika, are all professional, friendly and knowledeable. I missed the opportunity to stay in a tree-house, which would have been an even more unforgetable experience. Only had breakfast, which was a pity, since the food was very good. Thank you very much for a great stay. Look forward to visiting again.

A unique experience of sleeping in the jungle which is hard to rate. The place was surprisingly clean considering it's an open space inside the jungle. The monkeys are coming inside the house every morning and trying to find some food wherever they can, which I suppose can be both positive and negative, depending on the individuals. We found it funny :) The staff and breakfast were great. Perfect experience for nature lovers.

Expected things, such as a lot of mosquitos and insects of all types. Our bed sheets and luggage were wet all of the time, but also a thing that is expected when sleeping in such a place. No internet or signal coverage in the house (there is some at the reception). Not safe to walk around at night since the elephants and other animals are crossing the roads.

The staff was very warm and welcoming from the get-go. We loved to be and sleep in the open treehouse out in the jungle. Also the half-open shower was perfect as it made us feel like we were still out in the open. We had booked an Ayurvedic massage on arrival, and they offered us a free tuktuk ride to the spa and waited for us until we were done to bring us back. We also joined them for Loris watching, which they are véry enthusiastic about! Definitely something to consider.

Our neighbours were quite loud, which made it almost impossible to enjoy the nature sounds. The breakfast and dinner was very Western, which we felt was a bit of a bummer. We would've enjoyed the typical Sri Lankan foods and spiciness better. Even though we enjoyed our stay at Back of Beyond - Jungle Hideaway, we felt it was way too expensive for what we got. He told us they have a second treehouse complex, even deeper down into the jungle, where you don't hear a single car or other human being. This second complex, Back of Beyond - Wild Haven, illogically even seems to be cheaper, so I would look at this one first.

The tree house accommodation blends in very well with the jungle, is open to the elements and very cool. Really nice to be so close to the elements, yet protected. High off the ground, solid waterproof roof, great bug nets. Slept really well listening to the rain and sounds of the forest. Nice breakfast, nicer staff, really kind and friendly

Dogs, I hate dogs and I don’t think any resort should be able to call itself an eco property when they have multiple mutts thrashing around in the jungle barking and growling at the wildlife

Staying in the tree house was fantastic, one of the best experiences. Loved the jungle and feeling part of it. The staff was super helpful and made us feel very welcome, they offer so many unique activities (with fair prices). We never thought we would end seeing Loris! 🤩 Food was also fantastic, we wanted to eat Sri Lankan food and they offered us something different every day, always tasty. They accommodated my gluten-issues perfectly too. ah! and they even helped us sort out transport! We couldn't ask for more. I keep this place well saved.
