This is a luxury, spacious, green, and very clean resort. The charming bungalow-style rooms are lovely, and the large on-site restaurant serves a wide variety of delicious food. We appreciated the mix of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine and European options - especially important for our conservative young eaters. The fresh pasta station was a kids favourite every time! The swimming pool is not huge but never felt crowded. Evenings are made special with live music entertainment—always beautifully done and fun to watch. Overall, this is a fantastic hotel for relaxing with family or friends after busy days of sightseeing.

Habarana Village pleasantly surprised us on so many levels. The room was cosy and spacious (minus issues with the air-conditioning), with a wonderful view of the lake that had beautiful sunsets and a walking trail. Cheers to the very attentive and professional bar staff during meal services. Would highly recommend this place for a getaway and available wide international buffet options each meal. Live music was very good and the F&B manager was very welcoming. Very satisfied and well done!

Air-conditioning was leaking throughout our stay and was intermittently working. However, the ceiling fan was more than sufficient to keep us cool.

This was my favourite hotel during our trip to Sri Lanka. The bedrooms (lake view) were nicely decorated, the bed was very comfortable and the rooms were incredibly clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and there was an enormous choice. It’s a good, central location to visit all the ancient sites and temples in the area. There’s also a large choice of restaurants near the hotel entrance that you can walk to in the evening.

The pool is shabby - but it is warm and the pool next door in the sister hotel is very nice.

Buffet style meals in a nice setting. We enjoyed being in the village rather than the Lodge for the more Sri Lankan feel. However not the place to go if you want to swim as the pool was full and a decorative shape so more for playing, chatting in than swimming. The room was rather dark and gloomy in contrast to the Lodge. However we managed to use the facilities in the Lodge so we had a good balance. We were greeted with a wonderful elephant made out of towels surrounded by flowers left by the person who cleaned the room. Lovely touch really appreciated.

The place was situated in a very tranquil place. It is very peaceful. The pool was great for the kids. Waiting staff were exceptional. They were very attentive. Would i would like to give a special mention to Saranga, who was our waiting staff for the whole stay. He was an extremely polite human being who was very good at what he was doing. He was serving us as well as everyone else. But still managed to deal with everyone's need with a smile. Could not fault him even if I wanted to. Would like to give him a special thank you. He kinda made our stay that little bit special.

Whilst everything else was great, the choice of food that was available was not. Both days, we kind of had similar dinners, nothing different, maybe apart from one or two items. It would have been great to have different choices on different days.

Attentive staff in all sections. A family party of 16, ages 8 to 80, had a magnificent time. Everybody gorged on the fine selection of local food (a reasonable selection of Western dishes also). Fish curry and dahl for breakfast, add a bottle of Lion at dinner. Marvelous! The wildlife: birds, butterflies, and monitors all amazed - circling Brahminy kites a constant. A special mention for Nisansala Wimalarathne who soothed, smiled, and calmed nerves when a problem with the tour operator arose - not the fault of the hotel.

The odd evening gnat or mosquito was easily discouraged with a little deet

The hotel is in a scenic setting, with tree-lined paths and adjacent to the lovely Habarana Lake. Rooms were generously-sized and had all required amenities. For those interested in birds, we saw grey hornbill, black-hooded oriole and brown-headed barbet (plus several others that we weren't able to identify), all in a single tree within 30 minutes of watching. We also saw purple heron and Brahminy kite while on a boat ride on Habarana Lake (arrangeable via the hotel). The best aspect of the hotel, however, was the staff. Everyone, from restaurant and reception staff to grounds personnel and security, were friendly and obliging.

Rooms were fairly old and could use some refurbishment, though they were clean enough. Having to get water for the kettle from the bathroom wasn't ideal (although this is the case with most hotels). Breakfast and dinner could be improved slightly (some dishes were very nice, while others were not so great). My main concern was the provision of shampoo, lotion, etc., in small disposable plastic tubes. Fixed refillable dispensers would be far better for the environment. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so these points are fairly minor.

Room is clean, Staff are very kind and friendly. Ruwan from the rest staff was so professional and attentive. The Hotel greenery area overlooking the lake is spectacular. photos of the hotel public areas posted on booking.com is not doing enough justice. We had an afternoon and morning walks; it was so relaxing and mind blowing! unfortunately i cannot post videos to show how beautiful it is!

Food variety at the buffet for all meals is good. however, the a la cart menu is limited. for people and kids (especially) who needs western or international food will not be satisfied. for example, burgers are tasty but loaded with black pepper and spices. not suitable for all tastes. pizza was not edible.

It really felt away from home and yet felt like home. With peaceful surrounding. Felt like living with nature. For sure would recommend to anyone who’s looking for a getaway from Their busy routine. And the food was superb.

Checking in took approx 1 hour since the rooms (we booked 3) were not ready, on top of it they wanted us to fill in all da names and details of all family members (8 pax) with proof of identity which also took approx 15-20 mins. It would have been normal but after commuting for 6 hours it felt really annoying. Would have been better if it was informed upfront so we would have all da info ready. Not requesting them to change the protocol but to be bit more proactive to make sure the 1st impression is memorable than regrettable.

Wow, what a wonderful place to stay! This was the first place on our 3 week trip in Sri Lanka and it was such a delightful introduction into Sri Lankan kindness and culture. The staff were so lovely and helpful at all times, our 8 month old daughter was the star of the show and they could not have been more fantastic in accommodating our needs. The room and grounds were great and there was always a lot of delicious choices at breakfast. Would highly recommend staying here if you're planning on visiting Habarana and the cultural triangle!
