I have stayed here many times in the past (esp when living in SL) and it is always a pleasure. Fantastic food, service and attention, rooms and nearby excursions. September really is a very good time to come and there were even elephants on the dried lake at the back of the Lodge.

The fact that we had to pay per person for the trip out to Minneriya park rather than per jeep. I have done the safaris before from here, always good, but the price for a 3 hour trip (over 150£) for a couple is now very high indeed, if not extortionate. It would be fairer to have a fixed price per jeep and share out the fee amongst, say, max 6 guests. You might then attract more interest.

Good location for sightseeing, good size and comfortable room. Staff all very friendly and attentive but not intrusive. Although breakfast and dinner are both buffets the food was good quality and good variety.

I think the pricing in Sri Lanka needs to be more transparent. The 10% service charge is fine as long as the money goes to the staff in addition to their ‘basic’ wage (I asked a member of staff and they said it did) and the 18% vat is fine - the government needs to rise money. But they need to be up front - if you’re working to a budget and 30% is added to everything you need to be aware when booking, not innthe fine print. Perhaps an issue for Booking.com to address

A brilliant resort with great accommodations, fantastic services and lots of nature. Despite the resort being large, we did not feel it as the bungalows are nestled in a forest/jungle, around a lake. Their staff is very attentive and accommodating, their food is great and the facilities we used (mostly the pool and laundry) were great. Food selection is huge and most items were delicious. We were positively surprised to see that prices for dining (especially in-villa dining), drinks and laundry are all very competitive for the area. We used this location as a hub to explore the area, e.g. Sigiriya Lion Rock, Anuradhapura and others. For this it was perfect.

Nothing really, just recommending to the property to advertise their services better. We only accidentally found out about in-villa dining, the option for an authentic Sri Lankan cooking experience, the boat tour or their cute little tree house by the lake.

Facility: The resort is extensive, with accommodation spread across large land. We were lucky it was not fully occupied; otherwise, it would have been too crowdy and noisy. The time at the swimming pool was enjoyable, mainly because it was not very busy. Location: The resort is located away from the main street in a secluded place surrounded by nature. Nature aspect made this place enjoyable to stay in and experience. Food: Breakfast and dinner are served in the form of a buffet. A wide variety of dishes, all cooked with fantastic attention to detail and all delicious. Staff: All staff were amicable, helpful and friendly.

Prices for the experiences are very high when booked via the resort. It is worth searching for external providers, securing it with local guides, and constantly negotiating the price. The resort is too large for our liking - we enjoyed it because it was not busy. Many of the bar items were not available, which made the menus invalid.

We stayed 5 nights in this beautiful hotel and enjoyed every second of it. Very relaxing, calm, peaceful nature. Our room had a spacious lake view and waking up to that view was amazing. Very big, deep and well maintained pool. Staff is extremely helpful. They served with a huge small and made our experience memorable. Special mention to Maneshi and Kasiya from the restaurant. They are amazing! Also special thanks to Chef Sadun for a lovely dessert surprise (coconut puding) and Thilinika who prepared egg benedict just specific to our daughter each day. Last but not least, thanks to Dulanjelee!

The site is awesome, lovely colonial style little houses next to the lake, massive pool the little one loved. Great central point for visiting surrounding sights. Great massage, good food for a buffet all-inclusive (not many restaurants around so we're glad we picked it). Monkey fun all around. Had an awesome time here, would come again.

We expected a little bit more for the price and the 5 stars in terms of luxury. Communication with the hotel was often difficult and trying to get information pre stay etc, but overall we had an excellent experience. Didn't like the hotel advertising how not to use third party travel agents for tours etc as it's somehow dangerous, when their prices for trips etc were double the cost and the local businesses were great.

The Cinnamon Lodge exudes a charming colonial ambiance and is perfectly integrated with the stunning natural environment. The tranquil pool area, with its playful monkeys, added a unique and authentic Sri Lankan touch to our experience. We were thoroughly impressed with the quality and variety of the buffet breakfast and lunch served in your restaurant. The extensive selection catered to all tastes, and the authentic Sri Lankan dishes were particularly delicious. The dessert spread, especially the fresh fruits, was also a delightful treat. A special mention must go to Lalith, our room butler. His attentiveness and dedication to meeting our every need were exceptional. He consistently went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well-prepared for our excursions. His service truly enhanced our stay and made us feel incredibly well looked after. Cinnamon Lodge Habarana is a true gem, and it is the exceptional staff, like Lalith, that make it truly special. If we are fortunate enough to return to Habarana, we will undoubtedly choose to stay at Cinnamon Lodge again.

ACs I’m rooms could be modernised

It’s a beautiful property with lots of space inside the rooms and between rooms for nature. We saw giant squirrels, hornbills, langurs all in the property. The pool is beautiful and the breakfast/dinner spreads quite impressive. The best part was how easy it was to go from there to Minneriya National Park. We went on the safari with the in house naturalist (Sudath). It was more expensive but we got what we paid for with a lot more information and patience. Besides Sudath was amazing with our daughter and really made her experience memorable. Also special mention to Nalini at the front desk for being always helpful and thoughtful

There are a couple of (friendly) street dogs that followed us around which despite them being quite friendly was nerve wracking at times especially for our daughter who is scared of dogs. It felt a bit like we were getting hassled for tips by certain staff on our last day. It’s unclear what the norm is but in other properties in Sri Lanka we didn’t quite get the same feeling…

We had a truly memorable stay at Cinnamon Lodge Habarana. The surroundings were stunning – lush, green, and incredibly peaceful, making it the perfect escape into nature. The service throughout the hotel was excellent, but what truly made our experience exceptional was our butler, Wasantha. He was attentive, warm, and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Thanks to him, our stay felt seamless and very special. However, we were surprised by the pricing at the spa. The catalogue stated a massage cost of $65, but with the additional 10% service charge and government taxes that can reach up to 30%, the final price was much higher than expected. Even with a Booking.com discount, I ended up paying $77 for a one-hour massage. It felt overpriced, especially compared to similar services elsewhere in Sri Lanka. We also noticed that food and drinks at Cinnamon hotels – including during our previous stay at Cinnamon Wild Yala – come with a 30% markup due to the same combination of service and government taxes. It's something to keep in mind when budgeting. Despite these pricing concerns, we had a wonderful time overall, and we highly recommend Cinnamon Lodge Habarana for its incredible setting and exceptional service – especially if you’re lucky enough to be looked after by Wasantha.

beautifully maintained property and an exceptionally well trained staff took great care of us. did not know our deluxe suite came with a butler and he was amazing. Dhanuska went out of his way to ensure that we were well taken care of including food options for my 3 year old. he was a great listener and we so appreciate him for it.

nothing really. my only suggestion would be to improve the description of the deluxe suite on the booking.com site as it says nothing about it being a 2 bedroom/2 floor suite and that it includes a butler
