Hotel Marc Aurel is located in the peaceful and relaxing town of Petronell, close to the archaeological site of Carnuntum. The hotel is approximately a 20–30 minute walk from the Petronell-Carnuntum train station, and there are bus services connecting Petronell to nearby towns and Vienna, with the nearest bus stop just steps from the hotel. A thoughtful strategy by the hotel management is the on-site restaurant, which serves both Austrian and international cuisine particularly useful given the limited dining options in the surrounding area.

Upon arrival, we were asked to pay an additional fee, commonly referred to as the “City Tax,” which I believe should have been included in the total price from the start or clearly mentioned in the hotel information. As a guest who cannot comfortably stay without proper cooling, this could have been a serious inconvenience. Fortunately, all rooms are equipped with a fan, which kept the nights comfortable and cool.

The room was fine and whilst there was no air conditioning, there was a large fan in the room; shower worked well. We had a good night's sleep in clean surroundings and comfortable bed. I was very glad that the hotel had a bar and a restaurant as there was nothing else open in the village.

On arrival we were asked to pay various extra costs which I think should have been included in from the beginning. I must say that I actually said to the person at the Reception that I am not sure what I paid for if I still had to pay the extras. I would have appreciated a gratis bottle of water or two in the room but was happy to go downstairs and buy some in the bar. We had a meal in the restaurant and it was fine but not great (seriously over-salted). A few local dishes would be welcome. If you serve fish and chips, why not make it fresh water fish, after all Austria hasn't got access to the sea?

As we were cycling the Eurovelo cycleway along the Danube, the hotel's location on the track was great for us. It offered a comfortable, clean, quiet room with a good restaurant for dinner. Safe parking for the bikes overnight was easy in a garage under the hotel. The proximity to the Roman archeological village just a few hundred metres away meant it was easy to visit that in the afternoon. The hotel staff generously gave us early check-in when we arrived on a hot day, which we really appreciated. It was also good value for money.

No significant negatives.

We really like staying at Marc Aurel. The hotel is very nice and located at a short car-trip from Parndorf. We enjoyed the restaurant and the breakfast is very good - plenty of options, very good quality of food. This time we only stayed for one night.

This time, the room was a bit dirty - there was solid mud on the bathroom floor - looked like someone walked in after the room was cleaned. We never had cleaning issues before, and we stayed here several times, so maybe it was just an outlier.

The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk to the archeological site of Carnuntum and a short walk to the train station. Also, there is a bus stop very close which we used to get to the Museum Carnuntinum. The hotel's side porch is a great place to relax, and we enjoyed the breakfasts. They also serve dinner in the bar area, with good choices and friendly wait staff.

Was just an overnight stay for rest after a long journey trough Europe and a last minute booking. The Hotel is 10 mins away from motorway in a very quiet area . Staff is very friendly. Very clean rooms with comfy beds. Bathroom as well, very clean. I would reccomend their restaurant, its very cosy. Prices are more than decent, food was tasty and their local beer was amazing. As i am transiting the area a few times per year now i know where to go. Highly reccomended

It was a great stopover hotel, the area was quiet .The room was small but very tidy and clean. The beds were comfortable. The restaurant was great especially after a long drive. The access to the parking behind was great for us with very big luggage. The very small detail that they put our room key in a small wooden box labelled our names was very sweet, I almost wanted to take the box as a momento😜.

We are staying here for over 5years and everytime is perfect - very clean & comfortable rooms, super helpful staff, great dinner after the road. Location is also great for tranzit, visiting Viena/Bratislava our the roman monument walking distance from the hotel. Highly recommend and would always stay there when in the area.

The Marc Aurel was a great stopover while cycling the Danube. We arrived in a rainstorm and the receptionist went out of her way to ensure we were taken care of and bicycles were stored. Later she was our waitress at dinner and was there again next morning - she deserves a medal (or a raise).

The hotel looks nice on the outside and on the inside. Room was very clean and big enough for everyone staying. The staff was so nice and helpfull with everything. Breakfast was delicious.

Not alot parking spaces, but we were in town for a car meet, so I'm guessing that otherwise parking isn't that big of an issue, as there aren't that many cars
