Everything. This place was absolutely perfect. I felt so safe, I was so comfortable. Villa Maris, is one of the best places I have ever styed during my travels. The host Kostas was so helpful and kind. I arrived after 10pm to the island and he was there to walk me to the room, once I got off the ferry. He also, helped me with my bags to the ferry early in the morning when I was leaving. I just felt soooo amazing being there. I will be back!

I loved everything.

Kosta was very helpful and met us in the town square to guide us up to the villa. The villa is well located in the center of the town but very quiet. It is simple but has all the basics you need. Kosta also gave us plenty of tips and addresses which allowed us to make the most out of our time.

The only major drawback is the very early check out time, which is 10.00 AM. Being very very frequent travelers and airbnb hosts with multiple properties ourselves, this is the earliest we ever encountered and it kind of made our last morning in Syros a bit complicated. Pity as everything else was great. It is also important to mention that if you are old , in bad physical shape or handicapped, the large numbers of stairs to get to the villa and the fact that there is no access possible by any vehicule, makes it an absolute no go. For everyone else, the stairs will keep you in shape :)

This is a beautifully restored villa in the heart of Ermoupoli. The room is as it looks in the photo (i.e., no trickery). It was very spacious with a large comfortable bed, lovely original / vintage furnishings and a huge, marble bathroom. Kostas was a fabulous host who gave us excellent recommendations on where to eat. He met us in the centre when we arrived by ferry and proceeded to help me carry our luggage up the 115 steps to the villa.

To get to the villa requires you to ascend 115 steps , which, with bags in 30 degree heat requires a little effort. If you’re not that fit, or not a fan of stairs, please take note. For us it wasn’t a problem.

Everything about our stay was exceptional, Kostas met us at the main square when we got off our ferry and helped us with our bags to get to the house. He also upgraded our room for free. The room and facilities were fantastic and the views were amazing. Kostas also gave us a lot of great tips on things to do and places to eat, all we’re fantastic. I couldn’t recommend this accommodation more if you visit Syros.

Nothing. It’s worth noting though that there are a lot of stairs between the port/centre of town and the accommodation and to access the accommodation. That’s just the nature of Ermoupolis though, this was not an issue for us.

I liked this restored old house . It was done with taste love and respect . The comfort was according to whether someone likes to stay in an old restored building or not. There was some humidity, but maybe this was just because it is just turning summer. I loved the terrace with the very nicely taken care flowers . I liked that the place was very clean and Kostas was very hospitable . For breakfast I would have liked to have also a salty proposition with vegetables , Greek cheese and olives . Thank you Kosta , my stay in your place will stay in my memory .

I did not like the smell of humidity and that breakfast was mostly with sweet things .

- Kostas is extremely helpful and is taking great care with his team of the common spaces and plants - All areas where very clean - The location is great (of course there are some stairs to climb but this is Syros!) - Don't take the car in busy periods, it has many two way streets that fit only one car - A beautiful old villa - The toilet was renovated and in great condition

- The walls in the room we booked needs some refurbishment - Our room was on the ground floor and next to the common kitchen that made it quite noisy in the morning (in combination with the slim wooden doors) - Maybe other rooms / floors don't have the same issue

Villa Maria is a beautiful old house which has been tastefully and gracefully renovated. The shared kitchen is enormous and extremely well equipped. Our room was spotless and the living and bathroom areas very comfortable. Kostas, our host, gave us a very warm welcome and directed us to the best sights and restaurants. We can highly recommend this accommodation.

Guests need to be aware that the walk from the centre to Villa Maria includes quite a strenuous climb up a long flight of stairs.

Premises, location and host were delightful. Kostas was very helpful with tips for our short stay. The villa is nicely situated to access the old and new town, and the beach. The climb up the stairs to the old town is very invigorating and good for the legs!

There's some variation between the rooms, and the room prices vary accordingly, with the more ornate rooms costing more. So make sure to know which room you're booking so you're expectations are clear.

The entire house and room is beautifully decorated with stunning sea views of the bay. Kostas our host gave us a warm welcome and helpful tips for where to eat, and visit in Ermopouli. The property is in a wonderful location closel to the main square and an easy walk to lovely bars, restaurants and swim spots.

Nothing, it was the perfect place to stay on Syros

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Maria. The room was breathtaking with a view of the harbor and town, we were close to tons of options for food and drinks, and host Kostas was fantastic. He met us on arrival to share his favorite things to do and places to go to, and he had so much passion for his small hotel that he has lovingly restored. The building is beautiful and interesting if you appreciate history and culture. We can't wait to return!
