Beautiful hotel and a nice pool, good breakfast and comfortable beds. The staff although not that friendly (perhaps because I didn't speak French and we had some communication issues) they still were very helpful and accomodated my random requests etc. The restaurant at the roof serves really good food and has friendly staff working there. There are lots of banks and a supermarket in close distance and taxi wasn't that expensive to take anywhere. Relatively quiet neighbourhood.

The bathroom design wasn't always the best. The water takes over the entire bathroom floor and sometimes even flows into the main room.

Casa Mara is truly an oasis in Dakar. The rooms are lovely, the staff efficient and the benefits of having a nice pool on site and a restaurant incalculable. If you are a first time visitor to Dakar you might want to consider being in Plateau where everything is in walking distance, but it's only a short taxi ride to get there from CM so even then I recommend it. But certainly, if you don't need to do the general sight seeing stuff, Casa Mara is a fabulous place to be. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere; the food is good if not outstanding. But I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when visiting from now on.

I never liked the fact that she chose to place White Images of unscrupulous White Men on the inside of the hotel and displaying their authority and on the outside of the hotel placed poor African images their.That lacked taste knowing the strong African legacy.African Images should be on the inside of the hotel and they should be as prominent as those White images that she has.My group was left with a very bitter taste in their mouth knowing that this lady is pushing the same poor narrative about Africa,but yet uses 100%African staff. Very strange to me!!!

Good location, walkable to the beach and to restaurants [amazing Vietnamese La Baie D'Along on the main road] and a supermarket. Slightly tucked away so sheltered from the hustle bustle of the city. Comfortable rooms around a central courtyard with tables/seating and with a lovely pool to the side. Great roof top restaurant with comfortable seating and an area to watch football! Seemed to be some long term guests - maybe university exchange students? Had a lovely ambience. Staff very helpful with local information and arranging airport taxi.

Because of the central courtyard there was quite a lot of noise from other guests - only a problem when trying to sleep. The bathroom door did not have a handle so couldn't be closed, and the bathroom floor was permanently wet due to a leak. We did point these out and the staff were very apologetic and did try and fix it - hopefully sorted for the next guests. Our friend's had a problem with their door not opening and then not locking - again to be sorted, but not during our stay. Minor issues without which we would have had a perfect stay.

A fantastic boutique courtyard hotel. The rooms were basic but clean and very comfortable. The staff added extra single beds for our kids (three years old) with zero fuss. Breakfasts were simple but plentiful and delicious. The bar and restaurant at the top of the hotel was exceptional with great food and drinks, including a good cocktail selection. Clearly it is known as a fancy place, as a Senegalese romantic drama was being filmed there at the time! The little pool is a nice addition and a great way to entertain small ones in the afternoon after a day exploring Dakar. This is a little gem - stay here.

The ad-hoc furniture factory at the entrance by the pool could perhaps have been better located - but it added a certain charm, at least.

The staff were so attentive. It's a really nice hotel! Keep in mind it's not a luxury hotel, but in Senegal those are far too expensive. So here instead you find a really nice, cosy and safe hotel with everything you need. The roof bar and restaurant is such a delight, especially during the rainy season. You can stay dry and watch the thunder and lightning with a nice local beer and some superb food to match.

I was staying in a ground floor room, it felt a little less private than I would usually have liked as the curtains opened straight up onto the main area where other guests walk through to get to their rooms or to the lobby. I'd recommend trying for a room on another floor, but other than that, it's really nice.

The hotel struck me as somewhat like a "resort:" It has a pool with lounge chairs, a outdoor breakfast area with plants and plenty of sun. A nice restaurant is above on the rooftop. It was very relaxed and a pleasant break from the dust and noise of te city outside the hotel walls. The neighborhood seems good - with a private security guard 10 meters from the hotel gate, nice cars on the street, and good restaurants and markets nearby. It was exactly what I was looking for. Access from the center via the No. 10 public bus along the Corniche is easy.

The hotel is somewhat distant from the principal tourist sights of Dakar: mosques, memorials, museums, monuments, and the Goree ferry. But nothing is very far if you're willing take a taxi or even the DDD public bus system (either the No. 10 or 18 bus, which are AC'ed and nice).

It's a beautiful hotel located in a good location. Was quiet, clean and comfortable. Loved the courtyard with trees which provided lots of shade and there were many beautiful little birds. The breakfast was good. There is a restaurant on the rooftop which serves good food too. And their sangria is delicious!

The only issue was the bathroom, it was quite leaky as the water was seeping out of the wall. But hopefully, this issue will be fixed for the next guest!

Oasis from Dakar in general. We were forced by cancelled flights to stay here another 2 nights, and were lucky enough to get a room. Great staff, always helping us. Breakfast was especially good. We like the room, really liked the bathroom. Rooftop restaraunt was great, food was good, the place had atmosphere also.

The lovely inner courtyard is great for both working and relaxing and it stays cool even on a very hot day. The rooftop terrace is a delight. The staff is lovely, welcoming and very helpful about anything you may need. It’s very safe. The AC and wifi worked really well (the latter is not easy to find in Dakar).

The rooms, and especially bathrooms are basic. However still comfortable and great value for money.
