e guesthouse hosted us wonderfully. They helped us with everything we needed—late check-in, with the owner staying up waiting for us out of concern to make sure we arrived safely. She helped us book buses to and from Seoul, gave guidance on how to get to hiking trails, and offered great recommendations for things to do in the area. The place was warm and welcoming, with a breakfast that included everything we needed. She even arranged a taxi for us to the bus station to ensure we got there on time. Thank you for everything, Yehudit—the amazing owner! There’s no doubt that if we come back to Sokcho, we’ll make sure to book this place in advance!

Everything was amazing

Judith was exceptionally friendly and helpful, providing recommendations on where to eat and information on how to best navigate Seoraksan National Park. She also helped us with reserving bus tickets to Busan. It was a pleasure speaking with her and staying at her property. The location is very convenient with the fish market, local bus, and many restaurants close by. The Intercity Bus Terminal was only minutes away on foot. The rooms and common area were clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the provided breakfast consisted of toast, cereal, and eggs with coffee, orange juice, and milk.

Judith, the lady working there, was unbelievably helpful and friendly. We struggled with the planning for our hike in the Seoraksan National Park. She gave us very good advice about how to get there and which route to take. Additionally, she drove us to a Daiso closeby because it was closing soon to get some stuff for the hike. This truly made our day and stay exceptional. The facilities are well designed and our room was just perfect for what we needed. Because it is located centrally, it can be easily found and you can get everywhere by foot.

Nothing not to like!

Judith is an amazing human being! The place is very cozy. I travelled solo and booked double room just because why not. So the room was big. Curtains to make the room dark too sleep well. Breakfast with toast, home made jam (yum), eggs and cereal gives a good start to the day. Even if you haven't planned what to do here, Judith will come with great suggestions =]

Minor thing is that you can hear a little other guests from your room. But as long as no-one is making loud noises it's no problem at all! I'm a light sleeper and I had great sleep here =]

This is one of those hostel stays that you dream about - friendly and helpful host (Judith), good vibes from fellow travelers, comfortable facility, fun things to do all about, and nice breakfast to boot. Judith was seemingly available around the clock and extremely helpful. We spoke English and a bit of Korean with her, but as I understand she also speaks Chinese and Indonesian! She is a genuine and wonderful person. One thing I would ask of fellow travelers is not to take advantage of this level of hospitality. Just because she will help you late through the night doesn't mean you should just rely on her to be your tour guide. Please do your own research and homework. But if you ever need help, you'll be at a right place.

The location of this guest house is very convenient. It is just a few steps away from Sokcho tourist fishery market and Gaetbae, and it is easy to hop on a bus to Seoraksan (about 25 minutes). We stayed in a twin room with private bathroom. The room is small but cozy and equipped with all the amenities a traveler would need. The amenities are simple but enough for a comfortable stay. The room is quiet at night as there are two layers of window panes to dampen outdoor noises. Breakfast is simple but filling. The host, Judith, is kind and friendly, she offered to buy us bus tickets before our arrival and even took the trouble to prepare us a breakfast pack on the day when we left at dawn for a long hike in Seoraksan. She is definitely the gem of this guest house.

Room is a bit small. Sockets on walls are installed far from the ground and are right beside the beds, there is no bedside table/closet to put your electronic devices when charging them. If your charging cable is short, your device will have to dangle in the middle of the air while charging. We have to unplug the TV cable from the extension cord on the floor to charge our devices with short charging cables.

Very good breakfast by hostel standards, which includes toast, boiled eggs, coffee, etc. The owner is a really nice, friendly, and kind lady. It was a pleasure speaking with her and staying at her property. Very clean, with a spacious and relaxed common area. Spacious lockers. Owner gives great recommendations for places to see, hike, eat, etc, including how to get there. Location is walking distance from Sokcho intercity bus terminal, and close to some nice sights along the water area (the bridge, etc).

Honestly nothing I didn't like.

Judith is an amazing host, staying at her Guest House instead of an hotel adds a lot of value to your trip. She even helped organising our visit to the DMZ and has a lot of other good recommendations. The location is perfect, right across from a great food market where we ate almost every evening. The bus to Seoraksan is also across the street and Judith keeps a schedule of the bus departure times. She also served home made strawberry jam at breakfast. Would definitely come back!

The location was amazing, as it is a 10-15 minute bus ride from the bus terminal. Not only that, but the busses nearby would easily and quickly take you to Seoraksan, Sokcho beach and many other places. Juliet, the owner and manager, was incredibly friendly, and gave so, so much information about the area and things to do. The Sokcho seafood market and many brilliant restaurants are right around the corner from the guesthouse. It was super clean, the beds were comfy, and all in all, I would highly recommend Sokcho & Guesthouse.

The view from the room was not what I expected. I would double check when making the booking if it is a sea/harbour side view. But that’s alright as I was hardly in the room. I guess I also don’t like bright, white lights, and the room had those. But that’s a personal preference as well, and some people probably won’t mind. That’s all :)

The host was understanding. We were able to talk to the host to check in around 1:00 AM. So, we really woke her up in the middle of the night to register our vehicle and collect the parking fee. Check in was up to 11 pm. The big rooms have the necessary toiletries to bathe: shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We found a hairdryer too. No issue with bugs or dirty linens. The host cooked some boiled eggs for guests by request and American breakfast style was served in the home style dining room like cereal, toast with butter and jam. No meat or fancy breakfast.

Parking was not free. It’s W5,000 to park your vehicle in the vacant lot which was a walking distance from the guesthouse. Bring your own toiletries like toothbrush, mouthwash, dental floss, comb, etc. There were hand towels but not bath towels. The shower was inside the toilet so if there were a group of you who wants to use the restroom, you have to wait to sit on it, if someone was showering or vice versa. The location was okay, you just need to look for the sign that says “Sokcho Guesthouse” since it was in the main road of business establishments. You toast your own bread, put away the dishes, and wash them after you eat.
