Situated in a beautiful old building, Casa Mathilda is a very clean, friendly and comfortable place to stay. Our room had access to the patio, had a large bed to accommodate 2 people, and a fairly large bathroom with shower. The towel warmer was helpful when drying swimsuits. Ample room to hang clothes and place suitcases on a shelf or bench. There is a small writing desk. The shower has plenty of hot water (not needed in summer!). Breakfast (extra €) offered a variety of options (buffet): hard boiled eggs, cereals, granola, fruit, yogurt, pastries, meats, cheeses, espresso, tea. The water is filtered. The room and entire hotel had air condition. It is walking distance to all public transportation, cafes and restaurants. It’s around the corner from the pricey shopping district (Fendis, etc). It’s an easy 20 min walk to Sagrada Família. It is a very quiet hotel in the middle of a not very crowded district. If you like to party, this is not the place for you. Patricia and Aisha (sp?) were very friendly and helpful! There is a taxi stop across the street (look for Taxi sign) if you need to to go the train station or airport.

There was nothing we didn’t like. If I had to say something, then jt would be great if they had a clothes washer/dryer available for their guests.

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Mathilda! The location was perfect—close to everything yet peaceful and relaxing. Our room was small but cozy and comfortable, with everything we needed for two people. One of our favorite parts was the terrace connected to the room. We enjoyed beers in the afternoon and spent peaceful evenings with family, sipping wine we brought and chatting under the night sky. Having access to dishes and glasses made it feel like home and added a personal touch to the experience.

The only thing that surprised us was the towel service. Towels were changed only every other day, which we found manageable, but we later learned that another family staying for four nights never received fresh towels at all. For us, it was just one change on the second day, and then we had to use the same towels for the remaining three days. For such a wonderful hotel, we expected a bit more frequent service.

Room has a modern scandi vibe, tastefully decorated, and well appointed. Bed was very comfortable…twin beds could be separated or secured to avoid the mattresses sliding off to the side and creating a wedge between the two. Nevertheless, the mattress and pillows were comfortable and luxe feeling. We had a terrace accessible room to the nicely fitted outdoor space which made our room feel like it extended outdoors. Patricia and the rest of the staff were friendly and delivered excellent service. The hotel’s location is central and somewhat off the beaten track without feeling like tourists are on top of each other. The hotel elevator was just darling…you feel transported to a time in the past.

The location of Casa Mathilda was wonderful for the highlights we wanted to see in Barcelona. The area is beautiful and convenient with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. There is a relaxing outdoor patio which was a lovely oasis to enjoy our coffee. There are special touches throughout Casa Mathilda such as complimentary coffee and tea, a vending machine, wine glasses, a small library of books and a quaint dining space to ensure a relaxing time. There is also a wonderful sitting area with a couch and chairs which makes it feel like home! The staff is extremely helpful in every possible way to ensure a fabulous time in Barcelona.

The hotel is located in a beautiful building in a fantastic location, just a stone's throw away from Passeig de Gràcia, La Pedrera-Casa Milà and Casa Batlló. We were pleased to find many excellent food options in the area, and the hotel felt incredibly central, making it easy to reach other places like the Gothic Quarter, Park Güell and La Sagrada Familia. The hotel staff accommodated our late check-in and were friendly throughout our stay. Overall, our experience was enjoyable.

Our room was located near the main entrance, and unfortunately, it was not the quietest. Even though it was a boutique hotel and low season, foot traffic was noticeable. Additionally, we received only one flat pillow each, which made it difficult to sleep well. To improve the sleeping experience for guests, two pillows each would be better. In hindsight, we could have requested additional pillows during our stay.

The location was excellent. Away from the chaos of Las Ramblas, but close enough to public transportation to get anywhere quickly. And, if you like to walk, you could walk anywhere, too. The staff was incredible. Patricia was warm, friendly, and helpful. The hotel decor is beautiful and tasteful. The terrace is such a nice place to sit and plan your day or relax during siesta.

The walls are thin; we could hear people coming in and out during the night.

The hostesses were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The beds were super comfortable. The layout was unexpected but different and enchanting. The beds made the most of the room. The shower had a detachable spray which was very handy. The view was so pretty. There was a common area which was inviting and charming. and spacious. It provided a great opportunity to get outside of your room and relax on the beautiful patio or sit on the comfy sitting area. The hostess even brought an iron and ironing board for me. I loved that the hostesses were readily available on site but we still totally had our privacy.

I have a hard time thinking of anything that could have made a difference. I rated this 5 stars but if I had to think of something I would say that maybe it wasn't spotless...the floor and around the shower door but it was FINE! Also, the elevator was old-fashioned and super cool but a little tricky. The hostess was there to help us every step of the way but I think it would be helpful for that to be in the directions...how to actually get to Casa Mathilda once you enter the building.

The building and lift was very unique. Very clean and felt like walking into a home. Sandy and Patricia were very helpful and always came through with our wishes.

NOTHING MUCH. Just simple detail: We were in room 7, which i felt needed extra hooks to hang things up like my makeup bag and wet towels. I had to hang bath towels in closet to dry and would have like the nespresso in my room. Other than that excellent.

Very clean and tidy, a full bottle of water was left on the side as well. Great location as it’s very close to a busy metro station and only a 20 minute walk from Sagrada Família. The staff were very helpful and friendly, communication before and during our stay was fantastic.

Breakfast and morning time was quite loud - we did not have breakfast but could hear a lot of clattering around that woke us quite early in the morning.

This was such a wonderful discovery, centrally located in Barcelona Eixample Area. Location Location Location! Walking distance to La Pedrera and La Sagrada Familia. Many restaurants and shops. Secure indoor parking was available just a few blocks away. The hotel is located on the main floor of a stately building which used to belong to one of the most prominent Catalan textile-manufacturing families in the early 20th century. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. We loved the rooftop patio, the indoor dining area for reading and relaxing. Wonderful welcoming staff. Highly recommended.
