I absolutely loved the location in the old town of Calafell. It was so quaint and quiet. I had a rental car so it was easy for me to get down to the busier town by the seafront. The hotel is so unique. Quite possibly the best hotel I've stayed in. Not because of the facilities because some parts were lacking but the overall feel of this place. I was warmly welcomed by Cielo and also the owner (I think his name is Salvador). It felt like staying with family. Sure the hotel is a bit old and didn't have all the features of a modern facility but it was part of its charm. The gardens are beautiful and I loved sitting out there with my cup of tea just relaxing either in the garden or by the pool. This hotel is special. I really want to visit again.

The breakfast was very limited so I didn't have breakfast there after the first morning. I see some reviews say the rooms are tiny but really you just need a bed to sleep so I found it perfect. Also you're in a historical building so they can't do much about it.

The staff, especially the manager, were excellent. There was a celebration evening for St John and the manger arranged for us to join the celebrations. She could not have been more helpful. The location was good. It was quiet, but not too far from the beach by car. Parking was easy in a nearby free car park. The swimming pool was excellent.

The room was on the small side, but adequate. Breakfast was slightly disappointing, but again adequate

All the staff were wonderful and we really regretted not having enough Spanish to hold proper conversations. Salvadore was a great host. The gardens are fabulous and most of the time we had the pool entirely to ourselves. It's likely the hotel would be busier in July and August.

The room was a bit on the small side although the bathroom was large. As the hotel was in a town, we expected to have access to other facilities. In fact, there is a small food shop, a Tabac, a cafe that only opened for a couple of hours in the middle of the day, and a Bodega that didn't open at all. Several times we walked 35 minutes down to the railway station which is a few blocks in front of the very long beach where there are restaurants and bars. (Recommendation Monsoon)

The garden came as a surprise, its beauty, size and location, in the centre of the village. In high season it might get busy with the attraction of the large swimming pool but in April it's a peaceful oasis. The hotel is run as an extended family especially when it comes to dinner where there is a discussion as to what will be cooked. Always a culinary adventure as long as you are willing to wait until after 8:30 pm to start the meal.

The location provided tranquility but also isolation. You are close to the castle but a long way from the restaurants near the beach. There is a café almost next door and a shawarma place but few other options.

Brilliant garden with palm trees and a large pool, not what you expect in the centre of the town. The location suited me very well as it is as far from the bustle of the beach as possible and right next to the amazing castle. Staff is friendly and helpful and the breakfast was ample and good and the dinner was always a pleasant surprise.

I had to adjust to eating after 20:30 and finishing at 21:30 but there aren't many local options and the beach restaurants are a couple of kilometres away but it is what it is and the meals are worth waiting for.

The garden is beautiful plus the classic atmosphere.

3 out of 5 days the breakfast was poor due to the young staff who seem to not care. The other 2 days the owner was there and everything was fine.

The host was very friendly & showed me around the hotel. Loved having a dip in the swimming pool - very refreshing. Garden were beautiful. Evening meal was great. Nice room with an outside area. Great location for exploring a beautiful village!

The room is a bit small if you plan a long stay, lacks an area to store travelling bags ( we spent our time move it around on the floor to make room ). The breakfast could be much better in my opinion ( some variety and local fruits would be great ). The check-in was stressfull as we arrived late and no info were provided apart from the room keys on the reception desk ! We had confirmed our late arrival with the hotel so the first impression was not top. That got even weirder when we got back to the hotel from a small walk at the local fair and found the hotel door closed. You need a code to get in, fortunately there is a bell and the hotel satff came to open, stressfull start indeed , but got much better once settled.

Very good value for money and good breakfast

The room was quite small, but it was only for 1 night, so not really a problem.
