Loved the building and its location. The room was good with a nice view. Evening meal was good and service impeccable. A great place to stay with a beautiful old town to explore. Check out was very efficient with very friendly receptionists asking if we had enjoyed our stay.

We were advised to park on street though I had partly selected the Parador because of on site parking being available. When I explained this the receptionist told me how to access the parking but I didn't feel she was very welcoming.

A very historic building set within the fortifications of an old Napoleonic Fort, with helpful and pleasant staff, lots to see in and around the hotel, a walk up the stairs of the tower is well worth the view (even though you will be gasping for breath) still worth it, the Hotel is only a short walk from the center of town and all the Bars, Cafes and Restaurants.

More of a personal note really, they (Europeans) don't get what ‘well done’ means in relation to food, when the menu says comes with jacket potatoes you do not expect half a potato, however, it must be said the wife’s lamb shank was cooked to perfection and her other half of the potato looked okay. One potato between two people looks like we're going back to the Irish potato famine! I must also add in fairness, they did not charge us for the meal as I did not eat much of it.

As usual Paradores more than met expectations. From reception to departure excellent attentive staff. Always willing to help. The location is unique a very short walk from the centre; and the Parador itself is in a historic building. Two splendid main staircases. The room was very comfortable and well appointed and easy to access.

Two minor dislikes, one the parking charges which are relatively high, and it looked as if you could park outside free and the second one was that breakfasts are relatively expensive by Spanish standards

Ambience and location and room

Food could have been better. Michelin star restaurant 2 mins away was way better and as cheap

The location is superb as is the ancient building and has spectacular views The town is delightful

We were not advised in advance that a mediaeval fair was taking place which prevented both vehicular access to the hotel and the closure of the dining room! Reception staff would benefit from attending a course on hospitality! No complimentary water in the room. Bathroom door didn’t close Breakfast service would have benefitted from extra staff. One poor member of the team was trying her very best to cope

We loved staying in this Parador, a beautifully converted castle with a superb location and terrific views over the river. The room was exceptional with a super comfy bed and a lovely sitting area in the window. We didn’t use the restaurant for breakfast or dinner but the bar/cafeteria was excellent with good food, drinks and friendly staff. A wonderfully peaceful hotel to relax in after exploring the historic walled city.

The castle was beautiful and the people working there were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious. The decor was just what you’d want in a castle stay!

We had two full beds pushed together to fit our family of four which wasn’t as comfortable but the beds themselves were nice! Had to pay for parking but the staff helped us navigate when and how to pay. There isn’t a ton to see in the town—the castle is definitely the highlight—a great place to stay overnight en route to Portugal!

Old World ambiance in Medieval hilltop castle with panoramic views; spacious bar and restaurant, luxurious rooms. Ideal location near Portuguese border a perfect final stop on our tour of Spain before returning home to Lisbon area.

Lack of alternative bland foods (eg. plain chicken broth or boiled chicken and rice, tea and toast, etc.) available for tourists with temporarily delicate digestion. We were hungry but unable to order from what looked like a delicious gourmet menu.

This is a beautful hotel in a thoughtfully restored medieval castle. The restaurant was excellent, the staff very kind and the room, as I had requested, was ideal for someone with a disability. We would certainly like to return there.

The worst part was actually accessing the hotel but narrow medieval streets are to be expected if you stay in a medieval castle!
