The place is fully-equipped. You can find everything a traveller needs over there. The ambience is amazing and the people from the hostel propose activities during the week so that you can have fun during your stay. The workers and volunteers from the place are not only amazing, but also helpful and caring.

The bunk beds are quite noisy and it will take you time to get used to them. I missed a paper explaining basic coexisting rules in each room. Some people think they are at home and they bring other guests to the room, they leave all their stuff around the room, they set alarms that they are not able to stop and awake other guests... So, in other to decrease these impolite behaviours, it would be great to stick "a basic rule decalogue" on the door of each room.

It is a big house with beautiful cozy dorms, clean and generous bathrooms and an overall relaxed atmosphere where you simply feel at home from the very beginning. Feels more like a shared living with wonderful people than being in a hostel. The great garden completes the experience. You will find hammocks there and other places where you can hide with a book if you wish to enjoy some time alone. There is even a small gym area where you can shape your body. Otherwise you can rent bikes and surf tables in order to explore the beautiful beaches which are all very close to the hostel. There is also a nice park just across the street. On a daily basis, Pilates (for free) and surfing lessons (very fair prices) are offered by competent instructors. In any case, the people who work at the hostel are the real treasure of this place. They are all so friendly and extremely helpful and make sure that everyone in the house feels completely at home. I lost my ID card in a surf shop in Gijon on the day I left, and Mareike, the hostel manager, personally restored the ID for me and sent it to my address in Switzerland ! In conclusion: "Gijon Surf Hostel" it is by far the best hostel I've ever been and I recommend everyone to book several nights there!

A relaxed vibe, staff is nice, bathrooms are clean, common areas are good. There is a "no shoes in the bedrooms" policy, which is great, avoids dirt and odors. Price was good. Location is fine. I have a lot of crítica, but this is a nice place.

I stayed on the upper bed on a Six beds bedroom. Every time someone moved on another bed, I hear the wood creak. When me or the person in the lower bed moved, the entire mobile went sideways, quite annoying and worrying. Plus, the space is small for six beds, not enough ammenities on the beds - no reading light, no specific light for the luggage area. Part of the staff does not speak Spanish and are totally unapologetic about that, disconsidering they live there for months and months. The leniency to smokers is too much. The hostel should be 100% free - my opinion!

My stay at gijon surf hostel was amazing! The property is beautiful and tucked in a quieter part of Gijón connected with nature, super close to a park, hikes, and beaches. The atmosphere at the hostel was one of the best I’ve ever seen, all of the guests and volunteers were so friendly. The hostel does a good job of organizing activities in addition to the surf classes so there’s always something fun to do. The bed was nice and came with a curtain, light, and USB charger. Truly one of the best hostels I’ve ever been to, I will definitely be back!

The staff/owners and Volunteers a at this hostel were wonderful. I had a little problem and they went above and beyond to help and make sure I was okay and comfortable. Christian’s surf lessons were amazing and between him and his partner and all of the guests it felt like being among a family more than strangers. I found out about the loss of a loved one during my stay and everyone surrounded me with love and kindness. I recommend visiting and any issues talk to the staff they will help :)

Book the private room if you want a quieter stay but most nights was quiet at the stated times so no problem.

The staff are super friendly and quite attentive; the hand towels in the bathroom are changed every day; and even though it’s a bit outside the city center, it was never too difficult or long of a walk to get anywhere I wanted to go (plus there is a bus stop right behind the hostel that can take you into the city or to a beach a little further out). I didn’t try the surf lessons this time, but I would love to come back and try next time!

The volunteers were friendly and really helpful. The vibe was very communal, which was great. The included breakfast was AWESOME! It's out of town, but easy enough to get to on the bus. Lots of space to hang out, both indoors and outdoors

I was psyched to take a shower after seeing the bathroom, but it definitely looked a lot better than it performed. For the life of me, I couldn't get any hot water and the pressure was disappointing. Also, the bamboo system for drying clothes sucks and I found it baffling that a hostel centered around going to the beach didn't have any proper clothes lines for the inevitable flux or wet garments needing to be dried

Very friendly staff with lots of activities throughout the week, they're always looking to get everyone involved. Right near the sea but in a quiet location so you can sleep peacefully. Large parking lot a one-minute walk away, so super convenient if you're coming by car.

Beds are old and creaky - good luck getting out of bed quietly in the morning, you wake everyone up just by moving! Also only one bathroom to share with everyone on your floor

Nice social life and a very good location if you don’t mind to be further from the centre. There are two kitchens with lots of equipments. The price includes the breakfast which was really simple and not to wild variation of food but still it was nice and a nice surprise as well :)

It could be a bit cleaner. Although both kitchen had 2 fridges, all was full and it was really hard to find some place for my stuff..:/

A small dorm for 4 people with a large wardrobe and proper shutters and curtains for the bottom beds. 2 kitchens and a large bathroom. A living space to socialize. A breakfast for a good start. A free parking space just next door for our rental car. The location next to the coastal path Gijón-La Ñora and reasonably close to the centre of town .
