The place is fully-equipped. You can find everything a traveller needs over there. The ambience is amazing and the people from the hostel propose activities during the week so that you can have fun during your stay. The workers and volunteers from the place are not only amazing, but also helpful and caring.

The bunk beds are quite noisy and it will take you time to get used to them. I missed a paper explaining basic coexisting rules in each room. Some people think they are at home and they bring other guests to the room, they leave all their stuff around the room, they set alarms that they are not able to stop and awake other guests... So, in other to decrease these impolite behaviours, it would be great to stick "a basic rule decalogue" on the door of each room.

The staff/owners and Volunteers a at this hostel were wonderful. I had a little problem and they went above and beyond to help and make sure I was okay and comfortable. Christian’s surf lessons were amazing and between him and his partner and all of the guests it felt like being among a family more than strangers. I found out about the loss of a loved one during my stay and everyone surrounded me with love and kindness. I recommend visiting and any issues talk to the staff they will help :)

Book the private room if you want a quieter stay but most nights was quiet at the stated times so no problem.

The staff are super friendly and quite attentive; the hand towels in the bathroom are changed every day; and even though it’s a bit outside the city center, it was never too difficult or long of a walk to get anywhere I wanted to go (plus there is a bus stop right behind the hostel that can take you into the city or to a beach a little further out). I didn’t try the surf lessons this time, but I would love to come back and try next time!

The volunteers were friendly and really helpful. The vibe was very communal, which was great. The included breakfast was AWESOME! It's out of town, but easy enough to get to on the bus. Lots of space to hang out, both indoors and outdoors

I was psyched to take a shower after seeing the bathroom, but it definitely looked a lot better than it performed. For the life of me, I couldn't get any hot water and the pressure was disappointing. Also, the bamboo system for drying clothes sucks and I found it baffling that a hostel centered around going to the beach didn't have any proper clothes lines for the inevitable flux or wet garments needing to be dried

A small dorm for 4 people with a large wardrobe and proper shutters and curtains for the bottom beds. 2 kitchens and a large bathroom. A living space to socialize. A breakfast for a good start. A free parking space just next door for our rental car. The location next to the coastal path Gijón-La Ñora and reasonably close to the centre of town .

The culture of smoking: the ground floor and upper floor were smelly because of the people smoking on the entrance terrace. Only 1 bathroom per floor often occupied

This is such a welcoming and fun hostel. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. This is a social hostel with plenty of amenities and comfortable beds. The beach is within a short walk from the property where there is an amazing walk along the coastline which goes one way into nothingness and the other way into town. The breakfast is basic with a good choice of cereal, toast, fruit, and fruit juices. Tea and coffee are available 24/7. I was able to park my car in a parking lot literally over the road from the hostel. Really good value

Super nice staff, very sociable atmosphere here to make some friends (or not if you don't want to), the location is a little bit out of the center (like 15minutes on foot and frequent bus driving), but super close to a park, the beach and a supermarket. The free yoga and cheap surfing lessons were a nice surprise since I came as a pilgrim just looking for a bed. I went surfing the next they for the first time ever and it was super nice! Will definitely stay again :) There's also 2 big kitchens so it's never too cramped

A very well thought out hostel in an urban housing estate. Lovely garden to relax in, as well as communal areas with potential for table tennis and pool. Two kitchens, one with kettle and toaster, with allocated cupboard space for all guests to store food. Free breakfast. Usb point and light by comfortable bed with privacy curtains. Lockable underbed boxes help to keep the rooms tidy.. Good discount out of season. Good location away from the industrial end of town and away from town centre, 0.5km from the sea.

Some real bread that one could toast oneself at breakfast would be better than the brittle pre-toasted squares provided. But I am clutching at straws here for faults. Perhaps in peak season it might get a bit chaotic, but doesn't anywhere?

GSH is populated by surfers, Camino de Santiago walkers, and a few oddballs like me. The price is great, €15/night for a dorm bed and included breakfast. Contrary to the booking.com listing, every guest gets continental breakfast. There's a large, free parking lot for cars and motor homes across the road. 0The hostel is staffed by cheerful Workaway volunteers which means a variety of languages are spoken. There's a large common lounge with seating and receptacles in addition to a large outdoor patio with hammocks on the lawn. They offer surf lessons and rentals. It's easy to socialize if you wish. The guest kitchen is very functional but the downstairs stove seemed to have only one properly heating burner.

1) Each dorm bed has a light and USB port, but not an AC receptacle. There are only a few of this in the room, so longs trip[ hazard cords might be needed. 2) The only common lounge with comfortable chairs and electricity is locked from midnight to 8:30 AM, so night owls will have to settle for less..

Awesome staff. Fantastic location. Brilliant facilities. The hostel is such a great stay. The vibe is fantastic, very easy going. You can engage as much or as little as you like. Good activities that are offered through the hostel. Clean, spacious bathrooms. Clean spacious kitchens. There are 2 kitchens, 1 on each level, with more than enough space. They are also very well organised. Easy walk into the main town of Gijon and the main beach. Would recommend and stay again!
