Very clean. Absolutely wonderful setting. We had the corner room in the castle tower with king bed. Room would be improved with wine bottle opener and better coffee. Know that you are way above the town. Taxis are available to venture out. Location: many battles were fought here for its prime location—about 1.25 hours from Córdoba, and the same from Granada. Restaurant: The food is good. Excellent breakfast. Understaffed on one morning, so we didn’t get to order hot food. The 2 staff were swamped. Dinner: gross spinach dish. Cooked to death and under-salted. I liked the paella, served table side from big pan. Sea Bass “Sephardic Cuisine” was good. Lamb confit was good. Cannelloni was good. Albondigas—very good.
The service was inconsistent. Some excellent, some not.

Gorgeous property located high above the town and next to the castle. Wonderful views and luxurious common areas to enjoy. The restaurant was lovely and the food served was perfect.
The staff in the restaurant during breakfast service could spend more time being equally attentive to all tables and less time standing talking with each other. We had finished eating and were waiting/finishing coffee before anyone checked about hot egg options. Also, hotel quests should be able to sign for restaurant meals rather than paying for them upon completion - luckily my wife could pay with her phone.

Fantastic location. We had a lovely Mountain View from our terrace and great panoramic views over the city from around the parador. tTe building was designed and decorated to the highest standards. The bar drinks and food were excellent and reasonably priced. Proximity to the castle.
We didn’t want an all inclusive breakfast. We asked at reception if we could just have something smaller and they did this but the pricing wasn’t clear. Suggestion would be offer a ‘light’ breakfast option or to have an ‘a la carte’ menu option. We had to pay additional entrance to the castle and whilst this wasn’t much it would be a nice touch to have complimentary entry if staying in the parador.

A spectacular location. Beautiful views in every direction. We really enjoyed our stay. The old castle has been turned into a first class hotel. We had room 210 which was at the far end of the building and our very private terrace provided the perfect place to sit and take in the views of the mountains. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Very good breakfasts. If you are visiting Jaen, then staying here is a must. A taxi to the town is about 10-12 Euros, I would not advising driving down. The old castle just beyond the Parador is well worth a visit as it explains the history of the place, plus even more spectacular views! We highly recommend staying here. It is a special treat.
Nothing really. The restaurant is beautiful. For us the food was a bit heavy and portions a bit large, but that's probably more our personal preference.

The building, although not old, has a lot of character. The situation, dominating the town and the countryside, is exceptional. I watched both the sunrise and a sunset from a nearby spot, and it was spectacular. The hotel offers all usual amenities of a Parador, subdued, clean, comfortable, with good food at reasonable prices, and a great atmosphere. The swimming pool is exceptional. The surrounding area is relatively little known, but fascinating and beautiful. The staff was speaking English very well. This is not typical for Paradors.
My room was just above the parking. This implied quite a lot of noise -- people, cars, alarms -- until late in the night. The room was smallish.

Fantastic location with an amazing view of the surrounding countryside. Amazing castle hotel with a lovely swimming pool.
The pool didn’t open until 11.00am which was a shame as an early morning swim before breakfast would have been ideal. More of a problem was that the young lady cleaning the pool didn’t start doing this until it opened and wouldn’t allow anyone to use it while she cleaned it which took more than 45 minutes. Finally at about 11.50 I took the initiative and began to swim. I asked her why she didn’t start cleaning the pool before 11.00 and she told me she is only paid from 11.00. The hotel should have the pool ready for its guests when it opens not 50 minutes later once it has been cleaned. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful but seemed harassed and overworked - it seemed to us there weren’t not enough staff for the size of hotel and number of guests.

The location is splendid, like an eagle's nest on a mountain and yet easy to reach by car. The breakfast buffet was simply perfect. The pool is large, with towel service. Like in most paradors, the staff is polite and efficient but keeps a cool distance.
The hotel was booked full, so we realised that is was useless to complein about our failing airconditioning: it made a lot of noise & gave off a bad smell, but did not cool the room. So, at night we opened the small window. On the third day the pool water was covered with insects, but the lazy pool boy couldn't care less. A vending machine by the pool gladly took money, but gave no drinks in return. No one seemed to care ...

Jean is an interesting, historic city with plenty to see and do but without hoards of tourists. The hotel is on the top of a hill a little way out of town. Easy 50 minute walk down but would recommend a taxi back up! The room was big and airy with very comfortable beds. There was a lovely terrace with an amazing view that went on for miles. We really enjoyed the pool which had plenty of space and sunbeds. The public spaces in the hotel are spectacular.
The only problem we had was getting a cup of coffee! There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room (not uncommon in Spain) and there never seemed to be anyone manning the cafe bar. A small issue.

The location and the view was uniquely spectacular. The hotel had a consistently atmospheric castle-vibe. The staff was perfectly professional and, at the same time, friendly. The room was absolutely comfortable (despite being one of the cheaper ones). The pool was perfect - also with an amazing view. The breakfast was one of the best I ever had in a hotel (the homemade churros con chocolate were great!) and the restaurant was also very good. The stay was perfect - just a little too short. I would return immediately.
It would have been nice if the larger terrace (towards the south) had been opened to have drinks there.

Main desk staff were excellent, room was not ready when we arrived so we were given a complimentary drink at the bar. Room was a superior double and very well appointed with stunning views across Jae’n The whole Parador was beautifully constructed as a castle and the appointments were all in keeping
Other than the main desk staff there appeared to be a lack of staff and attentiveness with the wait at the bar on both days we were there excruciating long even though there was only 4 guests there
