Love this hotel, perfect for us travelling with a dog. The setting is stunning, the building is lovely and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. There was even a gift for the dog and a loan of a comfy dog bed which really helped. Spacious room with everything we needed, beautifully designed with attention to detail. The restaurant is excellent with really good food and an area where you can take your dog while you eat. We’ve stayed twice now and love it here. Excellent place to break your journey if travelling from the UK down to the south of Spain.

The hotel is beautiful, the staff is wonderful from the receptionist to the bar and if of course the restaurant staff. The suites are big , cleaned and well decorated. Having tea and coffee at the coffe station at all the times is great.

The noises from the floor above, the wooden floors really creak when walked upon, so if you choose this hotel to disconnect and lay in up to 10,30 in the morning, in peace and tranquility, forget about it , as if your room is on the 1st floor, you will hear your neighbours above . And when those ones decide to get up at 6,40, 8 am or 8,30 in the morning during your stay then the experience isn't pleasant. However once Monday came and our top floor neighbours left the hotel, then our room was heaven 🙌

Quality of bed linen was very good. The atmosphere of the hotel was very peaceful and calm which was very relaxing. The waiter for the evening meals was very friendly and helpful, which was great as we do not speak Spanish. The food was good. You can walk into Oñati via a cycle path/pedestrian walkway which was a nice thing to do as the town has some interesting sites. The building was very old and has been beautifully restored so that the facilities were modern.

The only problem we had was with the shower. It did not drain very well and there was a slightly stale water smell in the bathroom. Unfortunately, our Spanish was not good enough to have this conversation and it was not serious enough to spoil our stay.

The staff were so friendly and were especially welcoming to my two dogs. They arranged for a room on a low floor, they provided two large beds for the dogs and also gave them a little gift to enjoy. It was a lovely touch. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds are very comfortable. There is a coffee and tea station downstairs that is open 24 hours with excellent nespresso machines. I wanted to leave early and so the man on reception arranged for a bag of breakfast treats that I ate on my journey. This place is officially my favourite Spanish hotel and I will aim to use it every time I follow that route.

The room was excellent - well furnished and stylish. The on site restaurant is excellent and serves well prepared and presented food at reasonable prices. The hotel staff were helpful prior to check-in arranging for my arrival at a time when they weren’t present.

I stayed in Room 104 and the noise from the room above woke me up and kept me awake each night. This was not people being excessively loud, but was due to the floors creaking and the resident simply walking around.

Beautifully presented hotel. Everything was very clean and felt brand new, but with the character of the property maintained. Loved the extras like the coffee station and complementary water in the room. The owner was extremely helpful in replying to our questions. Fast Wifi, despite the thunder storms. Oñati is a fascinating town, is close to the Sanctuary of Arantzazu and would be a great base if you want to hike in the mountains. Nice to have a bar and restaurant on site. Good breakfast, and we liked the option to have something less lavish than the full buffet if desired. We ate twice at the restaurant and felt it was good value for money with a more interesting menu for that price level than most other places we encountered in the region.

We stayed in a standard room and the lighting in the evening could have been a bit more effective. An extra towel rail would have been good, too. However, when those are the only negatives, you know you have found a nearly perfect place to stay!

The hotel staff was great. Location fantastic, one hour drive from all main highlights in the Basque Country. They also allowed our dog to stay with us, something not usual in Spain as they are still behind when compared to the pet friendliness of the rest of Europe.

Unfortunately, despite the fantastic qualify of the food, the staff at the restaurant was not qualified - they were clueless across the board. Probably summer temps. But again, the quality of the food was really good!

Beautiful setting, surrounded by green fields, pine trees, and vines. Lovely old building, restored with care and attention to detail. Interior decoration was very tasteful and chic. We ate in the bar as we had our dog with us, white table cloths, attentive service and good quality food. We didn’t want the breakfast buffet the next day as we don’t tend to eat a lot at breakfast, so opted for coffee and toast in the bar which was great. The hotel smells divine, we purchased the spray so that we can carry the memory forward.

The hotel was lovely and although we were there for 2 nights it was only possible to eat in the retaurant on one of the nights but we both had a fantastic meal there on the Saturday evening. The staff were warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The bar steward was very obliging and recommended a new gin to try and it was very nice. Excellentnall round

Not being able to eat in the restaurant on the Sunday night as it must be their night off. had trouble finding somewhere nice to eat and ended up in a bar having a burger.

The ancient building is very nice and furnished with taste, despite some issues during our stay the staff was eager to help and sorte the problem out. The hotel has a very nice restaurant.

Probably due to restrictions in the restoration of the ancient building, there’s almost no soundproofing between the rooms, and floors/ceilings are very squeaky and mark every step from occupants above. Despite being an extremely nice location, I would definitely not recommend it if you were looking for a good sleep.
