Located a short walk from the central Cathedral square and the Camino. Comfortable room with private shower was very welcome after several nights in shared dormitorys. Our hostess received every guest with enthusiasm and although she spoke very limited English and I even more limited Spanish we managed to communicate very well. The evening meal was good value for home cooked 3 courses with bread and wine included. The breakfast was buffet style with a good choice. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it especially for solo female travellers.

For some reason I couldn't get wifi in my room although it worked fine downstairs - it's an old building so maybe to do with the structure blocking signal.

The property is charming and cozy! It’s located just outside the main bustle of the cathedral area. I anticipated a relaxing evening after a long day on the Camino trail. This was a splurge at $70. The 3 course $18 dinner with wine was fabulous! I joined another couple who were also dining.

Between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm I could hear a group of people in the room above, walking, dragging furniture, talking loudly. In the morning when I woke up, I saw 1 bed bug scurry across the blanket. The mattress is encased with a plastic liner which is a good prevention for bedbugs, though there was fabric underneath the bed, where they would be hanging out. Maybe the host thought I was trying to get out of paying the bill, but he appeared to be under responsive when I told him. 5 star hotels get bud bugs, but the right way to respond is to apologize and thank for the information.

This was one of the stand-out experiences of my Camino. What a fabulous hotel, I cannot rate it highly enough. My room was spacious with a balcony, table and chairs. The double bed was extremely comfortable. The shower! Option for a normal shower, a rain shower, or 6 water jets firing at your tired, aching body. Of course, you need all three. The restaurant was also an incredible experience. The food was so beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The staff work hard, are friendly and professional. If you want a rest day on the Camino, you could do a lot worse than this.

Hotel is cozy, an antiquated place, but clean, comfortable and great value. The staff was fantastic. The lovely woman that manages the hotel was very friendly, courteous and helpful. She and the rest of the staff helped with anything I needed. The bar too, was cozy and the breakfast was great.

I liked just about everything, however, because the building as centuries old, it has some low ceilings and I had to be very careful not to bump my head in the stairwell and a few other locations.

This is the best stay I had on the Camino. The place is clean and quiet, the hosts are SO nice. If you want to be treated with love BECAUSE you’re a pilgrim, this is the place to stay. Also the food is incredible. Must do for both dinner and breakfast, the food is the best in town and about the same price as all the other places. They have a great menu del dia with local Rioja specialities. The hosts don’t speak English but they use Google translate fluently and you can feel their positive energy flow to you even if you’re confused! :)

The hostess Maricruz was the best hostess I have had in the Camino since I started in Roncesvalles. She called an made arrangements with 3 different lodgings for the next three towns I had plan to stay in the Camino. She works really hard manning the registration, the dinning room, kitchen and also cleaned the rooms. She is always ready to help and takes care of things right away. The three course meal was wonderful

This is a historical property being the old flour mill. The owners are proud of their property and work hard to make you comfortable. The owners are friendly and speak mostly Spanish but there was no issues figuring out things. We received a city map right away and we’re told of the various things to see and do in town. There was a dinner and breakfast offered. We did the continental option which was very well priced and had delicious home made cake/ lemon loaf. Rooms were clean and comfortable. It’s an old building so you can hear other guests at times.

Don’t be afraid that this is a couple blocks off the Camino. It’s easy to find and the police station is on the corner :)!

Excellent value for money. We arrived on a very cold, wet night. The hosts were excellent and very accommodating. Always with a happy face and willing to go above and beyond. The hotel was warm, cozy and inviting and the single bed very, very comfortable. Lots of hot water and a very powerful shower. They provided two evening meal sittings at 7 and at 10 and the food was lovely and not expensive.

This was my first night on the Camino and the hosts were so warm, friendly and helpful. They even got up early to say goodbye!! The dinner was lovely (great lentil stew!) and there was a real homely feel to the place. I would absolutely recommend it as a place to stay on the Camino when in Santiago de la Calzada!

I stayed here during my Camino and it was the best place I’ve stayed at yet! Hosts are the most gracious I have met. Food is delicious. Got both the dinner and buffet breakfast. It is just steps away from the main cathedral and town center. Room was heated and I could control the heat. Highly recommend if you need a place to relax and need some nurturing!
