A very nice hotel in a real little oasis. Super friendly young staff. Comfortable bed, spacious room and bathroom. ( the only thing we missed is a bit larger wardrobe to unpack our clothes). The small restaurant run by the staff is an absolute bonus as there are no restaurants nearby. There are srilankan and western foods also ( We only tried the Srilankan both for breakfast and dinner: they were absolutly delicious). In the hotel We could also rent bikes for a day. It was the best choice we could have made to discover the sacred city of Anuradhapura.

Could have been a bigger warderobe for clothes. A bit noisy as the traffic increases on the neighboring road.

Small family run business with 4 rooms and an onsite restaurant. Room was beautifully clean and tastefully decorated. Beds were super comfortable too. The meals were simply devine, home cooked to order with very generous portions. Staff were incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We hired bikes from the property and they were in super condition and came together with a sturdy lock. They were more than happy to make any adjustments to ensure we were comfortable. Host made sure we took socks with us when we visited the Stupas which was an absolute blessing and prevented our feet getting seriously burnt.

Can’t think of anything - maybe 1 room with twin beds?

The location is perfect- just a few steps from Bus and Train Stations, very close to all the sites, shops and restaurants. The room is big and well maintained. The WiFi is very good. You can order food there and the price is reasonable. As the hotel is small, you have all the attention of the staff and they are ready to help at any time. I want to give a special thanks to Mahinda, who did everything he could so as to guarantee that my needs were met - from organizing tours and tuck tuck to helping with my phone :) So I definitely recommend this hotel to all people who want to spend a wonderful time there.

It’s not the property’s fault but the mosquitoes are brutal. The staff make sure that there are no mosquitoes in the rooms but outside it is a war :) so be prepare

We had an incredible two-night stay at The Ivy Lake, and we’re truly touched by the warm hospitality. From the heartfelt welcome to the exceptional service, every moment was special. A young staff member went above and beyond, waking up at 4 AM to prepare breakfast for our early morning trip to wilputta National Park—an unforgettable gesture! Everyone was so kind and friendly, making us feel truly at home during our first days in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend this gem as you continue your backpacking journey!

Stayed here for several nights to explore the ancient architectural sites of the Anuradhapura Kingdom and Wilpattu National Park. Exceptionally confortable, quiet, clean, and relaxing space to recharge after long, adventurous days in the sun. My room was lovely, the breakfasts and coffee were great, and the staff super friendly, relaxed, and accommodating in every way. Looking forward to staying here again.

Location is in a quiet corner of town and yet very convenient to / from the railway station and the long trip bus stand. Staff is friendly and very hardworking as she was working both the evening shift and the morning shift. It's a beautiful, modern, cozy hotel with limited rooms.

On Google, Hudo Lounge associated to the hotel was supposed to have opening hours of 9am to 11pm but it is not opened when I arrived at 5+pm. But it does serve breakfast which you would need to order ahead, if you did not include it in your booking.

The staff was fantastic! We arranged a full-day safari and a full-day city tour with them. We highly recommend doing the city tour with a guide, he was amazing. They also provided breakfast and lunch for the safari, which was a nice touch. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel were also really good. We definitely recommend staying here if you need a place in Anuradhapura!

When you are in Anuradhapura for a few nights: just book here! The staff is very friendly, we coffee and food are amazing (it’s hard to find good European coffee in Sri Lanka) and the room is okay with AC. When we wanted to book a Anuradhapura tour with a Tuktuk, they arrange Sam - a English speaker tourguide who brought us to Ancient city, teached us about buddhisme and arranged a meeting with a monk for all our questions.

We went on safari what we’ve booked through The Ivy Lake and for us, it was a bad experience for other reasons. The Ivy Lake listened to us and compensated. That was really amazing. The staff are truly listening to us.

Great location in the old town, near the station and main roads. Rooms are well sized and clean. Bedding was very comfortable. Nice large bathroom with walk in shower was very welcome after long days travelling. Also had a nice cafe area for breakfast and the food served was reasonable (coffee was good!)

Only issue of note was that the drain appeared to be partly blocked. Putting a lot of water down the sink at once caused some water and scum to come back up the shower drain.

Staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful. They arranged an excellent tour guide for me to see the sights and were always attentive. They had good English and happy to chat about the hotel and the area. Food was great as was the relaxed setting. Also got prompt and accurate online replies before coming to town which really helped with planning.

Would have liked some outside fans for the eating area.
