Very big resort with an impressive number of staff. I liked the spacious room with ocean view, and the extensive breakfast variety. I lost count about the number of swimming pools and restaurants they have, it's truly impressive!

We had a truly wonderful experience at Shangri-La Hambantota in Sri Lanka! We arrived late around 8 PM, and despite the hour, the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. When we found that the AC in our original room wasn’t working, the team responded immediately and assisted us with changing the room. To our surprise and delight, they even upgraded us to a beautiful suite—a gesture that made our stay feel even more special. A heartfelt thank you to tharindi de silva, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Her kindness and professionalism truly stood out and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed every moment of our two-day stay. The food at the pool and bar was fantastic, with great flavors and excellent service. The lifeguards were amazing—attentive, friendly, and always making sure everyone, especially the kids, was safe and having fun. Our kids had an absolute blast, and the whole experience was relaxing, joyful, and filled with great memories. This resort offers the perfect mix of luxury and family-friendly comfort. We can’t wait to return

We had an unforgettable stay at the hotel. I booked it last minute and they were happy to accommodate my last minute request to decorate our room for my proposal to my girlfriend. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We booked half board and the breakfast and dinner were both excellent with a huge variety of options catering to all cultures. I would especially like to thank Tharindi. She was so helpful in arranging the proposal, made our stay unforgettable and left us with a parting gift. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing time in this beautiful country.

Guest Relations Manager Tharindi made our stay special. We were treated extra of my expectations. We were there celebrating my friend’s birthday and they did everything to make her feel special at this day. And the spa is something amazing, highly recommend! Excursions from hotel are very good also, I recommend to take Ella one.

Location is far from all party places (if this is your goal, need to find transfer in some WhatsApp groups cause hotel transport is too expensive and uber is not coming). No choice of European food, need to be careful with spices, some flavours not familiar.

The kids club is great and the egg hoppers at breakfast were unparalleled. The pool area is also excellent for families.

A lot of the grounds are poorly maintained. I got the feeling that standards may have slipped over time, possibly as a result of the pandemic, economic challenges and the fact that this is a huge property. It often felt as though there weren’t enough staff to fulfil guests’ demands. The staff also weren’t as organised or as service orientated as many of the other properties we stayed in during our trip.

Our stay at Shangri-La Hambantota was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in a world of luxury, serenity, and outstanding service. The resort's calm and peaceful vibe instantly helped us unwind, and the lush surroundings added a magical touch to every moment we spent there. The Property is very beautiful with beautiful beach and the kids play area and water slides for the kids were the highlight of our stay. Chef Dharmendra Shah helped with some Indian home style food for our kid and he really enjoyed it. Samadhi Liyanage helped us with the checkin and ensured our stay was enjoyable.
