Location is beautiful, near Pongwe beach which is quiet and not many people. The private beach view is so lovely! Not much around the hotel but we wanted a few days of relaxation which was perfect for this. The lodge itself was charming and a unique accommodation, we loved the privacy and romance of it. Good value for money and drinks/food was reasonably priced.

They should tell you about the $2 per person water fee. I agree to cut down on the plastic but the glass bottles they used weren’t always cleaned and it was a bit impractical sometimes to get refills. Food was nice but you can tell the hotel is just serving food because they have to, as opposed to because they have a genuine interest in it. Bedsheets and towels weren’t overly clean.. you could tell they had been washed but old stains remained on them. The bar area had great potential but was a bit neglected and didn’t have a menu or much choice. There wasn’t always someone there either so if you wanted a drink you had to just wait around and it closed early at like 2030.

After a busy two weeks of traveling across Tanzania, this hotel was a haven of peace and tranquility, to relax and recupérate. Whilst the rooms aren't brand new, they are super comfortable and waking up to a view straight to the sea from the bed and your own private beach area, was amazing. There is no Aircon, but a fan over the bed and to be honest, this was fine for me as there is a nice breeze on the East coast...tbey also ordered a turndown service each night, putting down the mosquito net and spraying the room, so I had no issues with any insects etc in the room Food was good, and the evening meal was a different menu everyday. Staff were kind and helpful, they evenet me have a late checkout as I was not flying out until late in the evening. Bonus points for the two adorable dogs.

Hotel is located in Pongwe which is very quiet small town on the east coast. Right at the beach front, it's beautiful and enjoyable when high tide and not so windy. We liked also the snorkling experience with the local. Room was spacious and bed was massive and comfortable. Mostly wooden decor, it's ecological and also gives more local feelings.

The east coast of Zanzibar is more windy than the west. It's also very quiet compared to Nungwi with very limited restaurants or commercials, hence not much to do. It would be good for the hotel to stock up some games. The 5% credit card transaction fee was not something we experienced in other hotels in Tanzania. Also be good to charge water per room rather than per person. Food at the hotel was bit pricy compared to alternatives. The beach is nice up to certain part, then the rest of Pongwe is very often low tide with lots of seaweed.

The houses with the private outdoor area in front and the private beach are just magical!! You can't get such a space anywhere in the price range! We absolutely loved the personal feel of the villa - perfect for a couple to relax and enjoy some private time. The breakfast and the food were good.

The common areas are a little old and run down. No music or good ambiance around the bar/pool/breakfast area. Could be easily improved with very little effort

Gorgeous location, and very quiet hotel perfect for relaxing. The room was beautiful and to have a private "mini beach" was a real treat. Staff were friendly and attentive but not intrusive.

Weather was very hot/humid and we struggled without A/C (although we did know there was no A/C. Food was fine, but nothing exciting and not really any other options because of location.

The privacy of the room was incredible. It was a real treat to have such an amazing sea view from the bed. The room was spacious. We appreciated the bath tub, sun loungers, and turn-down service. The grounds were pleasant and made it easy to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery.

Some minor issues with Wifi strength and hot water availability. I think some guests may be more satisfied with breakfast if the egg yolks were more fully cooked.

The Swahili styled cottage was enormous. Own private entrance and the wow… stunning view of the sea from the patios. Huge room with delightful bathroom ( shower snd slipper bath with piping hot water. Shutte doors ( 4 of them) open onto your sea view patio and steps down to your own little sandy spot with loungers. Gorgeous sunrise. Private little beach front location but set above the beach so felt very safe. Eating and drinking done casually around the pool. Pool table has the most amazing seafront view ( but bring your own balls for a full set).

No kettle or fridge in the room. Otherwise a wonderfully relaxing place to unwind in. Didn’t seem to be much else in walking distance ( bars or restaurants) but that suited me fine as I loved chilling by the pool and using the very reasonable bar service.

There is so much that’s fabulous about this hotel.. the location is wonderful, on a quiet section of the coast with bedrooms that look out over the beach and the ocean, with almost no one on the beach. What you see in the pictures is what it’s like. The staff are extremely friendly and endlessly helpful, with things like making arrangements and doing laundry, and all the taxis they arranged for us were in time, safe, and friendly. And it’s a lovely place just to hang out in, you don’t need to be out doing stuff all the time. It’s not sophisticated but is very clean, comfortable, and you’re well looked after.

Nothing - honestly, it was all great.

Nice little lodge in a beautiful garden and on the beach. My room was large, with a balcony overlooking the beach. The central area/restaurant area has great beds for relaxing, the pool was small but clean. Easy access to the beach and the sea (great swimming around low tide, otherwise you have to walk a little). Good breakfast. Restaurant changes the menu choices everyday. Food and drinks are reasonably priced.

Great end to our holiday, tranquil and relaxing, the setting was perfect with so many thoughtful touches to the decor. The staff were super friendly and made us very welcome and always happy to help. Great breakfast, lunch and evening meal choices at very reasonable prices. Rooms were very roomy and fantastic sea view.

Tea and coffee facilities in the room would have been nice and possibly a small fridge. The fan in our room was inadequate which made some nights quite uncomfortable and a/c would be a welcome addition. Getting in and out of the pool was a little tricky as some tiles were very slippy.
