An elegant hotel in Ayvalik, a pretty little seaside town on the coast of Turkey. It was so hot the days I was there, I was grateful for the air conditioning--heaven. The WiFI was fine, too. I had to leave early to catch a ferry to Mitilíni, so I wasn't able to enjoy the sit-down breakfast, which looked tasty as they were setting it up in the large hotel dining room. The staff prepared me a very nice breakfast picnic box with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, cheese, and sweet and savory pastries to go. Everything was delicious. Also, the taxi I thought I reserved didn't show up, so the sweet man behind the desk jumped into action and put me on a local commuter van and saved the day. He also saved me $. The commuter van was less than 20 Turkish lira, so about 25 cents. I had dinner an easy walk away at the Camocel Restaurant at the Ayavik MariCamotel, and had the best meal I had in Turkey, right up there with any meal I had later in Greece (or anywhere). I had a fava bean mash/spread, sea bean salad (fantastic), a gigantic Greek salad (enough for 4 people), grilled eggplant and red peppers, all dressed with the delicate local olive oil. And raki to celebrate my last night in Turkey.

The hotel's swimming area in the Aegean Sea was not open. I was there in mid-June on a Monday, and was told it would open "on Wednesday." That may or may not have been true. It was so bloody hot outside and I could see the water, but could not get to it. VERY disappointing. Also, be prepared to use your phone's translator, because the staff's English is likely to be just a bit better than your Turkish.

Close to the sea (but not close to a beach), a beautiful scenery if you book a room on the sea side, on the top floor, the air conditioning in the room, friendly staff at the reception, the quietness (only if, in the morning, the staff hotel doesn't slam doors or buckets!). We also want to thank the gentleman from the hotel management who offered us, for the same price, an upgrade from a double room to a triple room (because we made the mistake of booking, for two adults and a child of 2 years and 6 months, a double room that turned out to be very small and so was the double matrimonial bed, in which we all had to sleep!).

Relatively far from the center, commercial areas and the restaurants of Ayvalik. The parking lot was overcrowded overnight, the reception staff speak/understand very little or no English. The rooms are very basic, smaller than in the description on Booking, furnished with minimal investment, with cheap and only functional furniture (for example, the wardrobe is a niche in the wall). On the same note is the interior of the hotel in the common areas, only the main reception hall still has decorative elements that please the eye. Poor breakfast, part ready portion on a plate, part buffet and only instant coffee. Remember: hotel classifications and standards in Turkey are different from those in Europe!

The room I was initially assigned had no heating, But They changed the room right away. A room with a view of the sea. Clean. The hotel had good breakfast and the friendliness and kindness of the staff was impressive. Maybe because it's winter...but they keep repairing and maintaining it.

The hotel is at the most perfect location in Ayvalik.Very nice sea vew,with really very friently people.I sugest to everybody to be there.And for sure i will never change our stay in Ayvalik in an other hotel.

The breakfast was ok. Only thing missing was propper coffee... they had some instant coffee, but that's not real coffee...

Location was great. Very close to city centre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and very filling.

There was a smell in our room but it was changed immediately when told.

Decor in the lobby and entrance was beautiful. The view was lovely from there and the dining room. The breakfast was very nice and generous. A staff member on leaving was very helpful carrying our cases to the parking area.

Staff were very formal upon arrival. The road crossing to the hotel is very noisy and busy. The hotel is not centrally located as described in the write-up. It is difficult to get your cases up the staircases from the lobby to the lift. There was a dog next door to our room that was very noisy.
