Friendly welcome, good food, rooms spotless, breakfast fab

We booked a table for 7 for a carvery, even though it said the carvery was finished at 7, they assured us at reception it would be ok. We arrived down at 6.50 to be told the carvery was already finished and had been switched off and it was no longer an option. When we explained what we had been told they turned it back on while we chose our carvery. The guy on the till did an eye roll at the mention of reception telling us it would still be open until after 7. Other than that, we were happy enough with the stay, but feel that all staff should know kitchen closing times etc

Our dinner last night was the worst meal we've had in the lodge. It was very disappointing. We were to have dinner tonight for valentines night and cancelled it after last night experience. My strips of chicken were very dry I ordered salt chilli chips which was a plain chip with piece chilli on top , my chicken strips weren't even warm let done hot , sauce was such a drizzle plus chicken was tastless , my husband got ribs , chicken fillet the ribs were dried out and obviously cooked earlier and reheated no sauce offered. Really disappointed as we wanted to have valentines dinner here tonight but opted for a different hotel instead .

Room was excellent, comfy beds and quiet. Bathroom facilities were fine and clean towels each morning were welcome. Breakfast was delicious.

Booking in - we’d to wait almost 50mins - seems they forgot we were asked to take a seat and wait! When the keycard wipes and you are unable to enter the room you have to go right back to reception, other hotels someone offers to come to you with a newly registered card. Fine if it’s just the once!

This hotel is superb! There is a wonderful ambiance, the staff can’t do enough for you, it is clean, the food is fabulous (both the breakfasts and evening meals), the decor is gorgeous! All around, we had a wonderful stay, and if it wasn’t so far away from us we would be coming to enjoy this hotel frequently!

Checked in for a 1 night stay at this fine hotel, Concert was in hotel which was a bonus, no need for taxi, and hotel was short walking distance from bus station to an from hotel Shopping was short walking distance also, Up early next morning to help yourself top class breakie b4 the journey home Top class service all round Look forward to returning

The staff were very attentive and offered me a quiet room right away. The breakfast was exceptional using high quality ingredients with a wide selection of offerings including fruit, yogurt and I think overnight oats which really impressed me. You could select also from the hot buffet and my son was very happy. It was the best breakfast I had ever had, compliments must go to the chef. The staff were very welcoming, the beds were comfortable, the rooms large and extremely clean. I would recommend using a hotel over other accommodation types as they are so professional and it was better value for money. There was even a voucher for the local gym. I was a female on her own and I felt very safe and secure and was happy to venture down at night to have a walk in the garden and to get a coffee so it was very sociable. I must also recommend the decor which was very pleasing to the eye.

The bar area was overflowing with children. With 2 under 10 year old children sitting at the bar and swinging on the stools. It makes you wonder if the manager really wants to keep his license. Not a good look for a respectable establishment.

Staff at the desk was wonderful and the serving staff in the restaurant were fantastic. Room was spacious; In the annex so we wouldn't have to lug our big suitcases up stairs. However, it was clearly a wing meant for people with accessibility problems.

Restaurant - servers were great, prices were good, but the food was mediocre. Breakfast was the opposite - good food but hard to get a server's attention.

On arriving at the hotel the surroundings looked clean and welcoming with plenty of parking. The staff were polite and very helpful. The suite itself was quite large, clean and well decorated with nice furniture and bedding. The room was well equipped with a fridge, water, coffee pod machine, tea and biscuits. The large shower room was well appointed and very clean. Breakfast was exceptional every morning with as much as anyone could eat and the staff very attentive. The dinner menu had a nice choice of food with the sirloin steak tender, delicious and cooked to perfection.

Could not find anything to dislike.

Surprisingly large and very comfortable room. Great sleep. Staff not just ready to help but keen to help and combined efficiency with friendliness. Loved all the pictures- clearly carefully chosen and hung. Felt very comfortable during our stay.

As in almost all hotels, shower wasnt great. Did the job though. Getting fussy to even mention it.
