The location off the motorway.

There was a fire alarm activation in our building at app 04:30 , we all evacuated to the reception in the main building where a guest had to go into the bar to tell the night porter there was a fire alarm. At no time did anyone take a roll call of guests or check all the rooms . Also I would expect a hotel to be connected direct to fire station, but no fire engines attended. Fortunately there was no fire but I feel the fire procedures is sadly lacking and need updating. When informing reception on leaving that I will be complaining the explanation was only 2 staff on duty at night.

Location excellent for overnight stop on route North. Staff all excellent, welcoming, friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was excellent.

No lift available. Although hotel only has one upstairs floor, climbing 2 flights of stairs can be difficult for some, especially carrying heavy luggage. My husband is undergoing medical treatment and was very fatigued after driving a long distance. . Luggage was too heavy for me .Girl on reception immediately offered to carry all luggage up, but husband ( being old fashioned) refused a ladies help. Biscuits in room and supply of decaffeinated tea/coffee would be very helpful.

The hotel location is perfect for the A1 motorway with good parking for all vehicle types. The receptionist staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. I booked a few nights' stay with breakfast that was nicely presented in the morning and tasted good. The bar area is modern and comfortable with good seating and a large TV screen at one end of the area for a relaxed viewing.

I experienced issues with my reservation made through the Booking.com app so the hotel receptionist was very helpful and updated my booking. My standard single room was very clean but a little small. That was my unknown choice of space. Also, the bed was a bit soft, and the quilt made me feel hot at times throughout the night. The shower was fine but without a choice of extra hot water at hand. All said it was still a pleasant room at an affordable price. Therefore I would recommend these rooms for a short stay.

We did not have a breakfast as we were not at all clear about what was on offer and whether we could have a light breakfast rather than a full English. Due to that lack of clarity, we skipped breakfast.

The entrance to our premier room in the separate building was very tatty and the carpet was very dirty. Quite shocked when we saw this as the rest of the hotel was very well presented. A major issue for us though was the fact that the outer doors to the premier rooms building did not appear to lock properly and anyone could access the building. We did not feel at all safe due to this. When we left the building to go to the main building in the evening, someone was standing in the corner smoking and it made us jump in the half light. Due to the smoking, our room smelt of smoke. Other than all that, we would stay at the hotel again but not in that building unless the outer door locked correctly. The hotel needs to sort this out as a matter of urgency.

We stay here 4 times a year: It's perfect for a stop over as it's right off the A1. The restaurant food is excellent so we always enjoy our meals. The breakfast is equally good, with a huge range of options and high-quality ingredients. Staff are superb - helpful, well-trained, and professional. Spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms which are relaxing to stay in.

We always stay in the same room (disabled access). A couple of ongoing maintenance issues: The bathroom is spotlessly clean but smells strongly of bad drains. The basin is also cracked and needs replacing. The wall lamp appears to be faulty, causing a strobe lighting effect when the brightness is turned up.

The staff make this hotel as we were just there for one night on our way south. We arrived with our two dogs unfortunately our first room was too warm as it was a really hot day. The staff found us a cooler room on the ground floor which was better for the dogs. I was very grateful and we had a great nights sleep. The food was great in the bar area with a special mention to Franky who really looked after us. As I said the staff make this hotel Richard on reception was amazing and a credit to this hotel.

have stayed here before and were not disappointed this time. small issue with the room was quickly resolved by the very helpful staff! lots of space to exercise the dog on site. the restaurant menu had been revised since we were here earlier in the year but still a good selection of dishes on offer. we'll be back!.

when taking the dog out for a last walk we saw youths on motorbikes and in a car driving fast and recklessly /dangerously in the hotel grounds hopefully this does not become a regular occurrence.

Room was very comfortable, clean and warm. Reception staff member who checked us in was friendly and very helpful and changed our room to accommodate my husband's mobility issues without any fuss. Room service was very good and food really tasty and freshly prepared. Breakfast was buffet style with lots of choice and very well presented.

The one thing was that we are light sleepers and air con units were just outside our window so did disturb us That said everything else was excellent.

This was the second time we have stayed here and the breakfast is always good.; as is the bedroom. This time we also ordered room service - also very successful.

There was a bit of a break in communications between the reception and the restaurant - we had paid for the breakfast for our length of stay - no-one from reception had updated the restaurant. To be fair, the reception was having a few problems with technical issues.

We had a premier room, and it was spacious and beautifully clean. Breakfast had a great choice, and staff were attentive and regularly topped up food, so it was always fresh. Staff from reception, cleaning, and catering were all very friendly.

Our room was a little chilly, and there were no instructions in the room. However, we were out every day until around 10 p.m., so it didn't affect us too much, and we didn't ask.
