Just got back from a 7 night stay at the avon court lodge The host were so lovely & friendly when we arrived, we were shown our room which was one on the front it was nice & clean , with a side view of the sea and ahead the pretty devon houses , which at night was enlightening with the lights on now breakfast, we couldn't fault it we really enjoyed it , set you up for the day ,such a great choice & nothing was to much trouble , it was a short walk to the sea front & harbour we will definately be going back there at some point
There was nothing to dislike ,perfect host & stay

A very warm welcome and being shown around. The room was small but perfectly adequate and comfortable. A small issue with a light unit was dealt with very quickly and without fuss. There is carparking available outside the hotel. The breakfast was superb. A real highlight and the staff extremely attentive and keen to make us comfortable. There is a small bar available operated on a honesty basis. There is also a lounge and library for guests to make use of. Our room had a small balcony where we could sit and watch the world go by. Lots of pamphlets and maps available in the foyer.
Struggling to find anything to be critical about to be honest. The automatic light outside the balcony meant the room was quite light overnight, but we got used to it.

The location was great with views stretching across the town. An easy walk from the bus stop. The staff were excellent and communication before and during the stay was brilliant. Breakfast was fabulous, really good choice and quality. Our room was a good size and had most things anyone would need.
The reading light above the double bed was so low that I hit my head on it whenever I tried to sit up. One side of the double lamp was broken, so reading in bed was difficult. There was a single bed in the room too with a very good reading light at a good height above the bed but that bed was very soft. A proper reading lamp on each bedside table would be better. The tv had very poor reception.

Where do we start?! I dont think ive ever stayed anywhere so welcoming. The greeting was second to none, Alison came out with a map of ilfracombe and suggested all the best spots and dog friendly areas/restaurants. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was immaculate and we had a balcony overlooking the town and partial sea view (room 6). Breakfast was incredible all fresh and locally sourced. The lady whom serves the breakfast was so lovely, they even provided a bowl of sausages for the dogs breakfast! The location is perfect, directly onto the coastal path across the cliffs. Easy walk into town and the views are stunning. We highly recommend and will be returning next year.
Leaving! :(

Second visit , I stayed with them last year aswwll. It’s a lovely place the breakfast is lovely ,and the rooms are so cosy and comfortable. Out the front there is seating amongst the beautiful garden and it’s a great sun spot too! Love sitting outside in the morning with a coffee! The hosts are so friendly and helpful too! I plan on returning when I can. Thank you for a wonderful 4 nights. There is also free Wi-Fi and a lounge with plenty of books and a tv,also A pub style room with dartboard some board games and snacks and drinks.

The room was amazing with plenty of room for myself and my two dogs. Alison gave us a larger room because I had two dogs with me and it was greatly appreciated. She also bent over backwards to ensure that one of my dogs who is occasionally reactive didn't come face to face with any of the other 5 dogs who happened to be staying that night. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented with a choice of cereal or fresh fruit followed by a full English with a vegetarian option (and guests could choose which components they wanted) followed by toast with a selections of jams, honey or marmalade. The dogs treated to a sausage each too! All the staff were so friendly yet professional. The dining room was light and airy and the location is a dream with the Coast walk two minutes away. It was so quiet and all 7 seven dogs were quiet all night!
Absolutely nothing.

Location. The honest bar. The breakfast was amazing. Alison was responsive, professional and attended to all our needs. We needed to store a big birthday cake in her fridge over night. Best of all was that Helen, who works there, ran us down to the quay where the ferry to Lundy island left from so we didn’t have to carry bags, bag packs and cake. Very very kind of Helen and Alison.
Nothing really. If I should mention anything, it would be good to have plugs for charging mobiles on each side of the bed

Pleasant quiet area of town , situated high on the slope. Ample safe parking and Wi-Fi provided. Although I never had time to use all facilities, it was well equipped with lounge and bar, tv’s, library, and lovely outside garden area for relaxing. The management team of the two ladies were well organised and gave a warm welcome. In room tea/coffee and toiletries excellent. Breakfast was a super full English, cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt - yummy.
Noise did carry through the room walls by nature of the structure, Fortunately there were no real late noisy guests. Foam pillows not my fave.

We were greeted very warmly and our host was ready to answer all our questions about getting to a wedding venue. Really helpful to have a map to find our way around. Great having an honesty bar - and to have a lounge to be able to use. Breakfast was good - I was delighted to be offered fresh fruit and yoghurt and my husband was equally pleased with a full English breakfast. The view from the room across the valley was beautiful. The Avoncourt is a great locations for getting to The Tunnels as well as to the town itself.

There was nothing not to like about the property. Right on the SW coastal path and parking outside. The staff could not be more accommodating or friendly. They made us and our dog very welcome and the dog even got her own cut up sausage at breakfast. The breakfast was fabulous, cooked to order and with a vast array of lovely things. I’d stay again for sure but I’d want a sink in the bathroom.
The room was spotlessly clean but we weren’t entirely comfortable with the only sink being in the bedroom and not in the bathroom so post loo you had to handle doors etc to reach the sink. I suspect in time the lovely owners will upgrade that bathroom from a bath to a shower and create space for a sink.
