I was on a LEJOG bike trip and this was a great stop. The owners could not have been more helpful. We turned up on our bikes after over 50 miles in the rain but absolutely no problem getting into the house and room to get changed and get our wet gear dried out. Our bikes were stored safely in the garage and we got eBikes charged up over night no problem. Room was great and breakfast was great!

I cannot rate my stay here highly enough. Robert and Nikki are the most friendly and welcoming hosts you are likely to meet. The property and location was tranquil, peaceful, well presented and away from the bustle of Barstaple. If you want shops on your doorstep forget it. If you want peace and quiet they have it in bundles, and amazing views. I found both Robert and Nikki very friendly and could easily spend hours chatting to either of them. Safe storage for my cycle was arranged and provided without question and these most perfect of hosts were very accomodating. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Stoke House b+b gets a full 10 out of 10 for me and is highly recommended. I was cycling the LeJog route but Stoke House would also make a great base for anyone wanting to explore Exmoor and the surrounding countryside. The directions to the property were absolutely spot on perfect.
The only thing I didn’t like was the steep climb up to the property from the main road out of Barnstaple after a long day of cycling.

Our hosts, Robert and Nicki, met us at the door on arrival and instantly made us welcome. Nicki promptly gave us the info about getting in and out and times for breakfast etc, then accompanied us to our room to explain the facilities and make sure we had everything we needed. We were given a big flask of fresh milk so that we could make a much needed cuppa after our long journey and this was replenished daily. Breakfast was wonderful, full English, cereal, toast, yoghurt, fruit, tea, coffee.. cooked breakfast was made to order by chef Rob.. and what a breakfast it was! Perfectly delicious! With Nicki on hand to make sure each guest was happy.. nothing seemed too much trouble. We enjoyed meeting the family dog, too and by the time our 3 night stay was over, we felt more like friends than guests and left feeling full and happy, with laughter and big smiles on our faces.
What's not to like?

We had a perfect stay at Stoke House. Nicki and Robert were exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The friendly ambience continued throughout our stay. Spacious, clean well-equipped rooms with lounge area. TVs in both the lounge and bedroom. Comfortable bed and clean towels each day. Tea making was provided in the room with so many choices of teas and coffee. Kettle with water filter. Fresh milk in the fridge, bottled water and biscuits were provided. Speedy WiFi. Great wet room with shower. Breakfast was fabulous, with various choices of cereals, fruit, juice and yoghurts as well as a full English breakfast. Choices of brown or white bread too. Breakfast set us up for the day, so well cooked and presented. Nicki and Robert were keen to help out with local information and had a wealth of local knowledge. We had an amazing stay and will return!

Nicki met us as we arrived and showed us our room. Lovely room and bathroom with little outside seating area. Nicki and Rob were very friendly hosts and made sure we were well looked after. Tea tray was well stocked with different teas, coffees, and hot chocolate as well as biscuits and bottled water. Breakfast was exceptional, lovely fresh orange juice, plenty of toast. We went for the full English which was delicious. Before we left, Nicki helped us with places to visit locally. Would definitely book again if we are in the area.
We only stayed one night, wish it was longer!

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by Robert and Nikki! They made sure we knew where everything was and if we needed anything to come and ask.The family room was spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 children(3,6)Very clean and tidy. The area was beautiful and quiet, the garden had a pond(found a large toad)and a large grass area. Breakfast had plenty of choices -cereals,yoghurts,fruit ,toast and a full english(veggie too)or whatever you wanted along those lines. We will be back and highly recommend this gem.

Nicky came outside to greet us and showed us round. Our room was absolutely spotless, with a really good shower with shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. There was complementary tea and coffee with fresh milk and biscuits. Also there was 6 bottles of water, which was a lovely touch. The beds were super comfortable - I can honestly say it was the best night sleep I've had for years! Good variety of food available for breakfast. I would definitely stay here again if I'm going to be in the area. Many thanks. X
The only down side is the location, as it is very rural. But that said, when we realised there was not much in the way of pubs/eateries in the close vicinity, we drove to the nearest town and stocked up with a few sandwiches and cans, so it really wasn't a problem!

Everything about our stay was excellent. The accommodation is set in a peaceful location and our room more than met our expectations. Everywhere throughout was spotless and we were well looked after by our hosts. We were provided with an excellent choice of breakfast items and can thoroughly recommend the full English, as would our dog who is now a sausage connoisseur, kindly provided for him. As many other reviews have said in praise of our hosts, we could not have asked for anyone better to have provided us with a lovely place to stay and it felt as though we had been staying with friends rather than strangers.
Leaving, as we had a lovely weekend.

Everything. The owners were really welcoming and interested in their residents, many of whom had stayed there before. The room was comfy and every welcoming feature had been thought of. I was exhausted and went to bed at 8.30pm fully expecting to be awoken by some noise or other but not so as everyone was considerate and the old house quiet despite being full. The breakfast was whatever you wanted in that the variety consisted of fruit, yogurt, cereal, muesli and porridge to a LARGE yummy full English breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed my ‘value for money’ stay there and would be very glad to return.
Too impressed to think of anything much I’d have preferred different. My room was fairly small but perfectly adequate. It backed on to the lane but cars passed so infrequently that I hardly noticed. It was such good value and pleasant an experience that my criticism is practically non existent. Well done to the owners !

What a fabulous little gem of a place.Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts.Went out of there way to make us feel welcome & ensured we had everything we wanted.Room was spotlessly clean & bed comfortable.Breakfast was fabulous. All food locally sourced & you could tell. Will most definately be back.
Country Lane a little difficult.Especially if you met something coming the other way.Only a very minor blip in what was a great stay.
