Stayed in Bluebell"lodge", very clean, comfy bed, smashing bed linen. Towels alittle tired. Smashing view.

Definitely not suitable for wheelchair, walking or breathing issues. Walk to rooms and beer garden, very very steep. Bar & garden need of proper Sping clean. The biggest let down, NO WHERE to sit. Come back after smashing day out, into pub for a drink, you either stand, perch on bare railway sleeper window ledge or high bar stools, same after evening meal. Not a cushion in sight. Very friendly staff, good breakfast & evening meal. Parking not great but thats due to geography, you can't have magnificent valleys and dales and expext flat parking

We stayed in a pod. - extremely clean and well designed. Large Comfortable bed, great shower, breakfast in pub (juices, hot drinks, choice of cereals/yogurts and then cooked breakfast). Hanging space for coats. Plug sockets in right places. Excellent food choices in the pub and lovely dining space.

We'd booked Cowslip but on arriving realised it didn't have a view.(it did have a garden at the back) The lady on reception was very helpful and found us a different one which did have a view (Bluebell). Parking is on the village square across the road from the inn. The pods are at bottom of a sloping pathway/track.

The Poltimore Inn is in a rural village and is a typical village pub with a large elevated dining room with a very pleasing countryside vista. The food is ample and very tasty and you can either eat formerly in the elevated dining room or enjoy the atmosphere in the flagstone floored bar and lounge. The rooms are in Chalet / Lodges in the grounds of the Pub and are very spacious and clean with all the facilities you would expect including the free wifi.

Nothing to really dislike although a bit more sound proofing at the Lodges would be helpful, with possibly a rug or two on the wooden floors to dampen down the walking noises and give a little warmth under foot.

Best scrambled egg I have had for ages for breakfast. Only one vegetarian main course option so I had 2 starters. The lemon posset was delicious and I did enjoy the garlic mushrooms.

No parking. The directions were to park in the square but there was no room, so I had to park in the church car park, which apparently they aren’t very keen on. So I dashed out after my dinner when some spaces had appeared in the square and moved my car. This meant I wasn’t able to have a drink with my dinner. Also the batteries in the remote control for the tv were flat, but the chef came out and got me some new ones.

Second visit to the Poltimore. The lodge we stayed in is a great size. Peaceful nights sleep and brilliant shower. Delicious homemade food in the pub with a good selection. Amazing views . The staff were always pleasant

The tables never seemed to get wiped and often had leftover food on them and were sticky. You have to ask to have room refreshed, ok for towels or bedding change, but the tea and coffee should be replenished daily.

Lovely view over the countryside from our window, would recommend the pods with a view, well worth the difference in price. The staff were welcoming, and we loved the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Breakfast was exceptional, made from local, fresh, quality ingredients, one of the best we've had anywhere. This was our second time at the Polimore Inn, we stopped for a night on the way back from Cornwall as we had loved it the first time we visited. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.

The lodge was small and compact but with firat class facilities. The lodge was neat and clean and tidy. I found out during our stay that if we wanted to use the telescopes in the observatory then we must book a stay inside the observatory itself because that also is a sleeping lodge. So I will do that next time we go there. Both nights of our stay were completely clouded over, so we got no chance to do any astronomical observing during our stay. The Poltimore Inn is on the edge of The Exmoor National Park, which is a protected dark sky reserve within the UK. Unfortunately I had no opportunity to test this or to see for myself these really dark and light pollution free skies because the weather was so bad, both day and night. We did not get to meet the owner of the Observatory, just the chef and bar staff and the waitresses who were really kind and courteous to us. They couldn't tell us much about the observatory or telescopes inside though. We will have to go back for a longer stay at a better time of the year. We went in March 2024, which coincided with a long period of very cloudy and very wet weather throughout much of the UK. Your best bet is to go in the spring or the autumn. Robert Townsend and Sarah Dixon from light polluted Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

The atrocious and dreadful weather both day and night.

We love the location, the lodges are spacious with lovely views, Its quiet peaceful ideal for relaxing. Beds are very comfortable. majority of staff are very helpful and friendly.

very small matters such as, spots of rust on towel rail and toilet roll holder, curtain rail missing hooks. Kettle very basic plastic. Some confusion around breakfast on 1 day, GF breakfast ordered. The waitress then asked if the sausage was ok which contained gluten, when told no she also asked if the may contain gluten hash brown was ok ? The breakfast arrived with no bacon and swimming in grease from the mushroom I had to ask for another plate as my breakfast was sitting on a plate of grease. Waitress happily changed the plate and was polite and friendly. more options for gf desserts are needed, we were told only gf dessert was chocolate brownie

We stayed in the Teasel, it was lovely, the shower was unbelievable! The bed was comfy and big, and the views from the balcony were stunning. Nice and tucked out the way, nice an easy 20 second walk to the bar and restaurant. It was around 30 to 40 minutes from a lot of Sea Side towns which we visited each day, which were all lovely and different. Parking was easy with plenty of spaces out the front of the hotel.

The only fault would be the joined entrance with the lodge next door, being echoey and loud if next door is up and out super early or back late in the evening, and we did wonder if next door could enter our room but forgot to ask, as we both had the ability to lock the main door to the 2x lodges.

Really friendly and comfortable place in a very pretty village. Stayed in one of the lodges, which are a great idea and are very comfortable and spacious. If I visit again (which I may well do), I will try to get a lodge with a view, which really is so nice, looking across the valley. I only ate in the restaurant one evening, but the food was excellent and the staff friendly, and the view from the restaurant also is very nice indeed.
