Spacious living area. Very clean . Rooms serviced when wanted. It was the little things that made a difference such as leaving biscuits every day for your entire stay. Lovely friendly service. Varied yummy menu . Varied breakfast that was delicious. Locals are very friendly. Spectacular views from our pod cabin, adjacent to the pub. The ambience in their restaurant has soothing piped chill music whilst eating. Really good service too. The pub has a snooker table. The pub is very convenient to Exmoor and all other areas e.g Barnstaple town which is only 30 mins drive. Didn't hurt the wallet especially with booking with booking.com What was special sleeping in pods which were adjacent to the pub was that I could hear and see the birds that were busy doing their thing especially in the mornings rather than hearing traffic! It Went home totally chilled out. We will definitely be returning. Giving the pub 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 😎
Couldn't fault

Stayed here with a group of friends on classic motorcycles. The hardstanding outside the lodges was a bonus to park the bikes on. The lodges were clean with comfortable beds and some fantastic views ! The short driveway from the lodges up to the road, past the pub is a bit steep, so care is needed when wet. Breakfast was included and we ate in the pub for evening meals - plenty of choice a no complaints !
One of the rooms had a problem, so a couple of our group were moved to another room in the pub. This, unfortunately, overlooked the pub garden, so there was a fair bit of noise late into the night.

Food excellent, surroundings beautiful, staff lovely.
Though the room was overall fine a couple of things that could improve it. 1. have some sort of shelf to put wash bags on rather than on the floor. 2. the emergency lighting was really bad and the room was like daylight. The emergency exit by the door was so bright, then when we covered that the smoke alarm green light right over the bed was like a bright green over head light that illuminated the whole room, what with the red lights from the TV over all as far as sleep hygiene is poor and as the reason we pay over £100 for a room is to sleep its stupid that there is so much light. I get it you need emergency facilites but Im better off in a tent in the field.

Really friendly staff, and good location. They took they were accomodatig with our choices to customize the "Full English" breakfast. Food in the evening was fabulous! Garden view in the dining area is also very good. We had a small light / lamp issue in the bathroom @10pm and they happily fixed that very quickly. Very friendly lady who helped us with check-in and the lamp issue. Breakfast staff also very friendly.
Breakfast options can be improved and some healthy options can be added. Though I understand it's an old era building, Access to the room can be improved a little, but not too much issue once you are inside.

The staff were freindly and gave good advice on places to go. The room was clean and modern. The garden was nice and there was a space to let the dogs walk. The cooked breakfasts were great but the GF food was limited. There was a good selection of drinks.
The mole room was somewhat on the small size, it did not have any hanging space. I appreciate a wardrobe wouldn't fit, but a four hanger above the radiator and one on the wall near the door, then one on the wall in the bathroom, oh and a new toilet brush would be great.

We hadn't explored all of the details and booked on the basis of dining there last summer. We'd expected to be in a room in the attached extension but in fact were in one of the lodges lower down below the inn. Very pleasant room, spacious ensuite and shower cubicle and bed very comfortable. Dinner was well prepared and cooked but the portions of fish and chips were too large for me. Breakfast very good. The whimsical metal figures scattered around the site were lovely. The nearby community shop was handy and worth supporting.
A minor point was the sloping roof meant it wasn't possible to sit up in bed for reading and a second chair would have been useful. Car parking in the square opposite so a bit hit and miss.

Very friendly welcome throughout the whole stay from the lady who showed us the accommodation, to the bar & restaurant staff. The accommodation is in individual lodges at a lower level behind the pub. You just walk down a slope past an ample beer garden. Being away from the pub and the passing road it was very quiet and peaceful. The lodges are immaculately clean with a huge bathroom containing a shower. Couldn’t fault at all. The pub also did evening meals which we took advantage of and was not disappointed at all. The pub restaurant looked very popular with locals and guests alike as there was a steady stream of diners and customers in the pub. The breakfast next morning was delicious and hot. A well deserved 10/10.
Nothing at all.

Stayed in Bluebell"lodge", very clean, comfy bed, smashing bed linen. Towels alittle tired. Smashing view.
Definitely not suitable for wheelchair, walking or breathing issues. Walk to rooms and beer garden, very very steep. Bar & garden need of proper Sping clean. The biggest let down, NO WHERE to sit. Come back after smashing day out, into pub for a drink, you either stand, perch on bare railway sleeper window ledge or high bar stools, same after evening meal. Not a cushion in sight. Very friendly staff, good breakfast & evening meal. Parking not great but thats due to geography, you can't have magnificent valleys and dales and expext flat parking

We stayed in a pod. - extremely clean and well designed. Large Comfortable bed, great shower, breakfast in pub (juices, hot drinks, choice of cereals/yogurts and then cooked breakfast). Hanging space for coats. Plug sockets in right places. Excellent food choices in the pub and lovely dining space.
We'd booked Cowslip but on arriving realised it didn't have a view.(it did have a garden at the back) The lady on reception was very helpful and found us a different one which did have a view (Bluebell). Parking is on the village square across the road from the inn. The pods are at bottom of a sloping pathway/track.

The Poltimore Inn is in a rural village and is a typical village pub with a large elevated dining room with a very pleasing countryside vista. The food is ample and very tasty and you can either eat formerly in the elevated dining room or enjoy the atmosphere in the flagstone floored bar and lounge. The rooms are in Chalet / Lodges in the grounds of the Pub and are very spacious and clean with all the facilities you would expect including the free wifi.
Nothing to really dislike although a bit more sound proofing at the Lodges would be helpful, with possibly a rug or two on the wooden floors to dampen down the walking noises and give a little warmth under foot.
