Breakfast was excellent. Room was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our stay.

We would have preferred a double bed in the room but we were only there for two nights so we would ask about this before booking next time. We on a conference at Cefn Lea and we would have preferred to have stayed nearer, but we booked late. The hotel wanted to know when we were booking in and when we texted to say a time when we were nearer the hotel after a four hour journey, there was no one on reception and we had to wait 15 minutes for someone to appear. We left the conference in order to book in at the correct time and we were on a deadline to continue with the conference, so this was disappointing.

In the middle of town. Friendly front desk staff. No air-conditioning (as expected in an old pub hotel) but thoughtfully, already provided a desk fan to help stay cooler. Big free car-park. Nice new bathroom.

Not a big concern but the corridors are a little "tired" - but pretty much on a par with what you'd expect at the price point, so nothing to worry about. They are also interrupted by numerous little stair sections which could be a problem for people with limited mobility.

The location was brilliant for what we needed as attending a football match. Lovely town centre with views all around the hotel.The breakfast included was both continental and full English is made to order so no waste. The room was modern with no noise heard at all.

Upon arrival was told that there is an important part to check in as they have a lot of trouble with drunken people being called out late at night there is a 50 pound charge for this. This indicates that they judge everyone with same brush if it was my business I just would of said that there is a damage waiver to read and sign that way no customer is offended.

Lovely location by the river. Decent sized single room with good ensuite. Clean and comfortable. Easy ample parking right at the hotel. Breakfast service friendly and helpful.

The dining room has a rather 'basic' impersonal feel to it despite its lovely views....noisy with a very springy floor, and only an adequate DIY buffet at breakfast. On both days, a large party of guests were finishing off after taking breakfast at 7am presumably...by the time I got there at 8am the buffet was running down, and staff were elsewhere for some time. The hotel was a bit of a maze, with inadequate signage...window frame in my room in the older part was very dilapidated. The room was way far too hot on arrival, and had to have the small window open all night, despite turning the thermostat on the radiator right down....a lot of wasted heat...not good!

located in a lovely place reception was very open and welcoming room was good value for money and had everything i needed shower was good good selection of apps on the tv to watch lots of parking available very welcoming and kind staff, who welcomed me into the hotel and made sure i knew all the essential information and showed me around room was clean and good size good selection provided for breakfast

Friendly greeting with local information readily supplied. Surprisingly large room with equally well appointed bathroom and the most fabulous view of the river and surrounding area.

As stated above a very large room albeit soulless. A few pictures on the wall wouldn’t go amiss, also coving, new curtains and a warmer paint scheme would blend in the old style dark furniture with the modern build. All the above would transform the ‘hmm nice big room’ to ‘wow this is amazing’

Fantastic location perfect for a visit to Newtown. The staff made our stay particularly the lady that checked us in. Extremely helpful, made us feel like royalty and wanted to ensure all our needs were met. I had previously talked to her after our trip had to be rearranged due to previous snow which had delayed my daughter’s trial and on both occasions the customer service was exceptional. I will definitely return in the future.

Lovely accommodation and excellent location for what I needed. I had a river view and this was so pretty. Very peaceful there.

Sadly the shower in my room, 101 was absolutely pathetic. I would not recommend anyone wash their hair while they stay there (if they have this room) because the water just trickled out. I booked the room with breakfast included however, following booking I received a message to say no breakfast served on a Monday morning. This was disappointing and there was no reflection in the cost of the stay.

Great location; nice big family room; cleanliness of room; tea tray was pleasantly full, large, clean bathroom.

Breakfast was somewhat frugal: small cereal containers and bowls, cooked breakfast (only 1 bacon rasher, 1 undercooked sausage, and wrinkled mushrooms) was not freshly cooked but merely kept warm, I sent mine back; having to use an inauspicious back entrance to return to the hotel in the evening, with warning of a charge if you lose the key to this room; warning of ‘don’t keep your room key next to your phone’ as you’ll be charged if you can’t get in; public decor badly in need of redecoration (scuff marks on walls, stair carpets need replacing/cleaning).

The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast on day 1 was fine. Room was nice and we liked the view. Overall the room was clean and very nice. Room booked was deluxe with river view.

Breakfast service day 1. Staff need to be mindful that their customers aren't deaf and can hear the swearing coming from the kitchen. Breakfast service on day 2 wasn't great. They can't wait for you to finish eating cereal etc before they bring the cooked breakfast out resulting in a cold breakfast. Coffee isn't great so tried using boiled water and a coffee sachet again the coffee wasn't very hot. Overall the room was clean but the sink plug was very dirty. Very limited menu for evening meal and they were out of alot of things for main and dessert course. There was a row of motorbikes outside the dining room doors for breakfast. When they start up the petrol fumes can be smelt in the dining area.
