Great find! We spent one overnight stay here and would definitely stay again. Location is great, and was ideal for us. Staff were very friendly and helpful, efficient service with a smile! Limited parking but a public car park extremely nearby. Food and atmosphere were very good, good menu choice, and the garden was perfect on a warm summer evening, to relax and enjoy! Rooms were very comfortable, providing everything you need for your stay, and spacious too. Hearty breakfast, and included in the night's rate. Busy with lovely locals, and you are definitely made to feel welcome.

Nothing really to not like. Six rooms in total, and rooms 1 & 2 on the second floor, the other 4 rooms are on the first floor. Second floor stairs are quite steep, so if you struggle with stairs, better to request a rooms 1 to 4, with just one flight of stairs which are wider and not as steep.

A very clean room and bathroom. The bathroom was very large - half the size of the room. In addition, it had feminine sanitary items for which alone the place should earn an extra star. There was a bottle of fresh water in the room. I liked the river just below my window - very soothing and calming, and I could hear the church bells. Had a very good rest.The restaurant had tasty food. A bus stop, a shop and pharmacy nearby.

Some distance to the railway station and the moor (adds a couple of kilometers to hiking) but counterbalanced by beautiful architecture on the way :)

Lovely characterful, old building with free parking. Central location. Comfortable room, that was clean and warm. Lovely decoration. Great staff.

Property … nothing! I did struggle to find the hotel car park though … I found a parking space nearby & phoned the hotel for (perfect!) directions. May I suggest the parking information be clearly included in Booking.com confirmation emails. The car park is behind the hotel and accessed via Mill Road (not using the hotel’s post code) …essentially, turn first right after turning uphill into Mill Lane from East Street.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast was very good. Our only comment would be that it would be better served in the dining area rather than the bar so there would be more room. However, the quality and service overall were good. The room itself was comfortable, if a little small but the ensuite shower room was spacious and clean. The hot water pipes went through our room so it was very warm but a fan had been provided and we were able to open the window which made this more bearable. We were at the back of the property and it was lovely to fall asleep to the sound of the stream outside. For the price we paid we were extremely happy. Also the location was perfect for visiting Okehampton with access to the train station and Granite Way walk nearby.

As mentioned the room was very warm but because of the age and character of the property this is probably something difficult to avoid. Also unfortunately the kitchen was closed at short notice in the evening so we were unable to have a meal but there were other places nearby so this wasn't a real problem.

Firstly. The location couldn't be better if you're looking to be in amongst the action. You're right in the beating heart of town. The rooms are well sized and comfortable with adequate facilities for a short stay. Great breakfast. Very tasty dinners all served with a smile by the very friendly staff. Also Dartmoor ales to die for!

If you were staying more than a few days you'd benefit from a good chest of draws for your clothes. Minor point really.

The location is spot-on; the place definitely has charm and is nicely decorated. The food was great, and the staff were always very friendly.

The top shower head was very mouldy. I had to wait a couple of times to be served (for dinner and two breakfasts). Saturday dinner with a full house was a tad chaotic. On both mornings, the chef was alone and had to manage everything by himself. Had I been on a tighter schedule, I would have appreciated a bit swifter service. Still, everyone was lovely, and I’m sure it was just a hiccup in the shift plan.

Central location with the convenience of a carpark. The rooms were nicely appointed with little touches like mint chocolates on the bedside tables. The breakfast menu was reasonably extensive and the food itself was freshly cooked and delicious. All of the staff we encountered were warm, friendly and professional.

The first room I was given had bathroom lights which were waiting for replacement and the bathroom was too dark to use so I was moved to another (bigger) room which was lovely but was right on the street and lacked privacy.

I was overwhelmed, The Fountain is by far the best hotel now in Okehampton and quite possibly the best restaurant. They were refurbished within the last year and have retained all the character, but made the place warm and comfortable. They even have a large carpark. We initially booked for three nights, but extended for a fourth. Breakfast was very good and we dined in the restaurant for three of the four nights.

I couldn't find fault with anything.

Room was larger than expected. The bar/restaurant was nice and reasonably priced. Breakfast - couldn't fault it. Staff were spot on. Friendly, helpful and could chat to them. 3rd time I've stayed in Okehampton. On future visits this will be my first choice

Kitchen closed at 8, but new chef and they were getting things into place so understandable.

Excellent bedroom, huge shower room, very clean and quiet. Food in the restaurant was excellent. The bar staff were great, very pleasant, chatty and helpful. On site parking was easy. Location was excellent for the town.

The only negatives was that the veg served at dinner was mixed frozen veg which was disappointing and did not match the quality of the rest of the meal.
