Stayed for 3 nights in the two bedroom lodge. Accommodation is high quality, clean and in very good condition. There are great views and a good size wrap around balcony with plenty of seating area. The bedding was very comfortable and large walk in shower was very good. The two bedrooms and en-suites are a good size and identical making the accommodation well suited to two couples sharing which would make it good value. There is also a very good Alder winery next door which was a good spot for lunch or morning coffee. We enjoyed our stay and would book again.

Tea and coffee is provided with a very small jug of milk enough for two cups of tea, a few other basic provisions and a pint of milk would have been appreciated as there is no local store close by. The description of the lodge on booking.com gives the impression a bottle of wine is provided, it isn’t.

Lobhill Farmhouse B&B near Lewdown sits just a bit off the boundary of Dartmoor National Park, making it an excellent place to stay while exploring the north and western sides of the moor. In fact, we spent our days walking the moor and visiting the tors. Our room was one of three in the B&B with comfy bed, pillows and duvet. The large bath had a good shower, racks for towels and adequate soaps. Breakfast begins with yogurt and a wonderful granola made and sold professionally by the owner's sister. Plenty of juice, coffee and tea, croissants, and so forth to accompany the full English breakfast ordered by menu the night before. Jane, the owner told us lots of history of the house and the local area. Adler Vineyards, next door, is in the family. They have been in the area for many years. There is a walk through the woodland down to the cafe in the vineyard. We never made it to the vineyard since we spent our time on the moor when it was open. Tip: The Castle Inn was our favourite place to eat dinner.

The room we were in had a step down into the bathroom. A rail might be useful for the less nimble.

Jane was a most welcoming host, and attentive to our needs without being intrusive. The breakfast was well cooked and the eating area comfortable and spacious, Lobhill Farmhouse is served by a good road, without that being so close or busy that it intruded. It was a quiet spot, with little evidence of farming activity on the site itself, so it was lovely to sit in the garden, looking out over the farmhouse and adjacent hillsides with a chorus of birdsong from the woods behind us. Being invited to walk in this beautiful woodland was an unexpected bonus. Our twin room was smart and clean, with seating for both occupants, and the décor showed evidence of recent upgrade. It also had a nice view over the nearby hills.

Nothing major. The beds were a bit softer than we prefer, though not sufficient to detract. The single shelf in the shower-room was a bit tight for laying out two people’s toiletries.

The self catering cottage was spotlessly clean and very well presented. The kitchen although small was very well equipped and I used the microwave, cooker and washing machine without any problems. There was a little jug of milk and a bottle of water in the fridge for me to use. The bedroom and ensuite were so pretty and with plenty of room. The shower worked very well and the bed was so comfy. It was good being able to park right by the cottage too. The weather was mostly fine/sunny so being able to explore the grounds and walk through the woods was great, so lovely seeing the spring flowers. I have just come home from 3 nights at Lobhill and I very much appreciated the peace and quiet as I was in Devon for my friend's funeral.

Unfortunately I couldn't access the free WiFi, perhaps due to my antiquated mobile phone. I wanted to tell Jane but didn't see anyone when I left this morning. Also just a suggestion but if two people stay in the cottage I feel an occasional comfy chair would be appreciated too as otherwise it's either sit on the sofa together or sit on a hard dining room chair.

The property was well signed, easy to access and in a great location - car parking was in front of the house. Jane (our host) was most welcoming, very friendly, looked after our needs well and made our stay very comfortable. The property sits in a tranquil location with extensive gardens, easily accessed and woodland surrounding it. The room we had chosen was spacious, had plenty of storage for clothes etc, the bed was very comfortable and in the en-suite there was a great shower. In the room there were tea and coffee making facilities and at the bottom of the stairs, there was a daily container of fresh milk available each day in a fridge - (Oh, and I musn't forget the little pot of fudge that was also left in the room - one of the little local treats you can but at Lob Hill Farmhouse) Breakfast was ordered the night before and freshly cooked in the morning along with toasted homemade bread. We knew that on one night we would not be back at the B&B until late but this was not a problem as we had a key to the front door. Overall, we had a great stay - Thankyou Jane. We would be happy to stay again and would recommend the property to others.

Lovely quiet and scenic location, yet close to the A30 for day trips. Super comfy bed and bedroom with spacious and well appointed ensuite. Sumptuous home prepared breakfasts carefully prepared and presented, providing more than enough to take you through the day. A true home away for home thanks to the wonderful care provided by our host Jane - thank you!

The room with views over the gardens was absolutely gorgeous, the gardens and woods behind the property were beautiful to walk in, lovely teas and fudge in room, the breakfast was delicious with lots of options and the host, Jane, went above and beyond during my stay including helping me get to a local wedding!

I don't think the stay could have been much better for me! Local taxis can add up so having a car might be helpful

The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings. The garden was well tended, with plenty of communal seating, in addition to the personal-use table and chairs that were nearby. There is also a woodland you can walk in. We were lucky enough to see a deer on our journey to the nearby Alder Vineyard where we had an excellent breakfast. The cottage had everything we needed and was exceptionally clean, with a generous amount of tea, coffee, etc and all the other essentials required for a self-catering stay. The ensuite was spotless, and I loved the huge shower. There were loads of towels. Our host made us feel very welcome and I felt that nothing would have been too much trouble. I would certainly visit again.

A dishwasher would have made the facilities complete, but I appreciate there wasn't a spare area to accommodate one

Stop searching, this is the place you want to spend your vacation at! We stayed here for 3 nights with our 14-month old and it was wonderful. Jane prepared "The Shed" with some treats for us upon our arrival and was very responsive when we had any requests. After long days of exploring, we loved that there were multiple launch spots throughout the rental: we could either relax in the living room and overlook the hilly vineyards or enjoy the sun on the couch on the deck. In general the layout of the entire place fit our needs well: well equipped kitchen with even a milk foamer, each bedroom had their own bathroom, there was a little separate mudroom prior to the main living area (was great to store all the baby gear), and the best of all, it was a bit apart from the rest of the BnB so you had ample privacy. On our second day there, I told my husband, this is what vacation should feel like.

We cooked quite a bit and I wished there was a small dishwasher for convenience. Nevertheless, I would book this place again in a heartbeat if we wanted to stay somewhere in the area.

We stayed at Lobhill Farm for 2nts to attend a wedding at a nearby venue. Jane was a very accommodating host. We stayed in the Green Room, which is a.large, well appointed room, with a private balcony overlooking the amazing, well tended gardens. The ensuite was roomy with both a bath and powerful shower. The bed was very comfortable & the attention to detail throughout the property, gave a very homely feel. The breakfast was first class. Jane's recommendations for local pubs/food, were greatly appreciated,
