The property was amazing. Clean and tidy. Staff were incredible and so so welcoming and helpful. They put on an amazing breakfast in the morning and could not have offered to do more for us. Breakfast was delicious, gutted that we didn’t make it for dinner as the breakfasts were LUSH!

The only thing was when you have a shower the whole bathroom floor would get soaking wet- due to like a wet room style. I feel that the shower tray needs tilting back so the water runs down the drain! Also I’d recommend a bigger mirror if possible - two girls fighting over a mirror to get ready for a wedding was a bit of a pain x

This property has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and exceeded our expectations. We had a luxury suite which was very well appointed with a roll top bath and very comfortable bed. The fan was a welcome addition as the room was on the second floor and quite warm. Cooked breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly and efficient. Very convenient for exploring the centre of Wimborne.

Room was facing the main road through Wimborne so very noisy until late at night and started again early in the morning so if you're looking for a quiet room this one's probably not for you. We only stayed one night so not really a issue for us. Room had sloping ceilings and was up two flights of narrow stairs so would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

The last night of a week's road trip so not sure what to expect. Was very pleasantly surprised by what we found and definitely finished on a high. From start to finish we felt welcome and looked after. The food was delicious, with the sea bream cooked beautifully at dinner and a great selection for breakfast. Beds were comfy, shower was good and the room was beautifully decorated.

While I like cafetiere coffee, I like the speed of instant, and an option for decaf. There wasn't anywhere to put our suitcase, some sort of stand would have been useful. Not a bad thing but wotth a note: Nearest parking is across the road, if you note the Just Park reference you can put an hour or 2 on in the morning (charges from 8am to 6pm) without leaving your room.

At the time of our weekend visit there was a half price offer on food in the restaurant and so great value although our knickerbocker glory desert was far from glorious. Recent refurbishment has meant some of the earlier critical reviews are now no longer valid.

The route to our room (Studland) was the most tortuous and confusing that I have ever experienced in a small hotel including a very steep narrow flight of stairs. Although when we were shown to our room the receptionist did offer to find us another room if we found the access too difficult. In the event of a fire I would not like to be in this room as so far as I could see the only means of escape from the second floor was down the steep narrow flight of stairs. Our bedroom window which might have provided a means of escape onto the adjacent roof was screwed shut with only a small opening section at the top. For this reason and this reason alone I will not be booking this hotel again.

Room and overall residence is beautifully and tastefully decorated, nice touches to room with lots of differing teas, filter coffee- though i did not have either- but, even a little sewing kit, havent seen one them in a hotel for over a decade!! Room very comfy and lovely coffee at breakfast- did not try the food though. drinks are incredibly expensive- £14 for a double gin but maybe thats the average these days, i rarely go out anymore. Thanks for a great stay- particuarly the lady who booked us in in the evening and kindly helped me with all of our stuff (alone with toddler!) and the other lovely lady in the morning who made my lovely latte and warned me about the ticket man outside! Will definitely return if in area again.

Drink prices and hard to contact (tried calling several times to warn of later check-in, but no answer). Might also prove difficult for peole with limited mobility, given that there are a lot of stairs and small corridors.

Comfortable bed and a good shower. Newly refurbished. Breakfast was good. Very close to everything worth seeing and doing in Wimborne. Good soundproofing.

Some traffic noise but not unexpected. The pay and display car park needed a visit at 8am to renew the parking fee. Some design concepts looked good but suggested that the designer hadn’t tried staying in a room. Dark decor needs better lighting for things like shaving and putting make up on. There was no bin in the bedroom. There was nowhere to put items like toilet bags in the bathroom. The spare loo roll was on the hook on the bathroom door. None of these issues would stop us staying again though.

I recently had the pleasure of staying one night at The Lion Head Pub in Wimborne, and even though it was a short visit, it left a lasting impression. The room was spotless, cozy, and tastefully decorated—ideal for a peaceful night’s rest. Everything felt thoughtfully arranged, from the plush bedding to the charming countryside touches that made it feel like a true home away from home. But the real highlight? Breakfast. It was absolutely superb. I opted for the full English, and it was everything you’d hope for—crispy bacon, golden hash browns, perfectly poached eggs, and sausages that were clearly high quality and locally sourced. The toast was thick-cut and buttery, and the coffee was rich and freshly brewed. It was the kind of breakfast that sets the tone for a great day. The staff were warm and welcoming, making me feel like a valued guest even during a brief stay. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality really stood out. If you’re passing through Wimborne and need a comfortable place to stay with a breakfast that rivals any café in town, The Lion Head Pub is a fantastic choice. I’ll definitely be back for a longer visit next time!

Well equipped bedroom with substantial furniture - like the rest of the pub - but, on balance, too much furniture to the size of the room. Our superior room had separate loo and shower, but there may have been more actual usable space if they had remained as one room - both the loo and shower were quite narrow. The bed was too soft for us but I accept that's a personal preference as many would enjoy the enveloping comfort of a wallowy bed.

The food was acceptable without being stunning. It varied from excellent to good, e.g. chicken and ham pie in the evening was excellent but the fish and chips was only good. The breakfast was the same mixture of excellent and good.

Staff were excellent. Rhi checked us in and was also looked after us at breakfast. Really welcoming and nothing was any trouble. Room was brilliant. As good as other hotels which are £50-60 more expensive. All freshly refurbished, lots of space, nice finishes throughout. Felt luxurious. Parking opposite. Which is good for wimborne. Breakfast was really nice.

Some minor minor noise from traffic. However I am from wimborne and there is no place to stay which is not near a road, so nothing that can be done about that.

Our room albeit not easy to get to for us was very comfortable. The room was in the eves of the building so storage facilities we very limited. The dining/restaurant facilities were spacious and comfortable with a very restful colour scheme. The breakfasts and evening meal were very enjoyable. The staff were more than helpful and friendly.

Where the room was situated as we are in our 70s so climbing two flights of stairs with tight corners was better suited to younger people but that was no one’s fault but ours.
