From the moment you enter Hotel Alvear there is a sense of calmness. The lobby, along with the adjoining dining room is very tastefully done. Sylvia and Roberto, who are on the reception desk, are friendly, outgoing and so very helpful. The room we had was on the 4th floor, and it was clean, comfortable, well appointed and warm. Breakfast is wonderful, with plenty of hot coffee, breakfast sandwiches can be made on a panini appliance and there is sliced ham, cheese,salami, and tomatoes…lot of fresh fruits and juices along with cereal. I would return in a heartbeat!

Nothing to report that I did not like.

The staff at Hotel Alvear is wonderful, and it's located just off the main drag in the business part of town (Centro), so one can walk easily all over the place, especially to the Old City (Ciudad Viejo). The breakfast was excellent with lots of options, all delicious. My room was small but cozy.

I've stayed at quite a few 3-star hotels over the years. They are usually NOT part of a chain and have a friendly, helpful staff, and the accommodations on the small side but extremely comfortable and well-maintained. Plus, their location usually rocks. Hotels Alvear checked off all of those boxes, but the age of the place could be seen especially in the bathroom. My stay worked out just fine, but I was a bit surprised by the wear and tear visible. I would still recommend the hotel, though!

We travel the world on our motorcycle and we are looking for places that provide a good room with a good breakfast in a good location. We rarely stay for a long time as we move on. The hotel has been great for us and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast is super and the staff always have a smile on their faces. The place isn't about luxury but it's real and it would be tough to find a better location

We have absolutely enjoyed our stay. Don't come here for the view out of the windows from the rear rooms but is that really important? Equally is it really important if it is warm outside that the window doesn't shut properly?

It has a great location, a delicious breakfast, the front desk staff were helpful and kind, a spacious bedroom and comfy bed.

The building was going on through a remodelling (just a temporary condition) so it had a lot of dust and I do understand the situation, nevertheless the cleaning staff could do a better job inside the rooms bcuz the floor was over dust even when we asked for cleaning. The hotel had a small problem with the hot water but it was quickly solved. We stayed at 5° floor and the WI-FI was awful.

This hotel was located in a very good location and there were several restaurants just steps away. The included breakfast was very nice and there was a wide variety of food to accommodate most people. The rooms were nice and clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and very nice. The decor of the entire hotel, while not elegant, were very pleasing and in very good condition. The best ice cream we’ve ever eaten is just steps away.

Perfect location to visit the cidad veja, not far away from tres cruces bus station and shops and restaurant. very kind staff, especially Silvia who assisted me to call airline for missing luggage. Rich Breakfast

Room quits outdated and there’s margin of improvements in the cleaning levels of floor and bathroom.

Cozy place, nice staff, good location, many restaurants and touristic places nearby, clean, early check-in allowed, breakfast good, room and bed very comfortable.

The room could be bigger, the hotel is a bit old, but they are working to renew it apparently, my bathroom had no light working, and the breakfast could have more fruits and eggs, in general has many sugared options, and few healthy ones.

The room was very adequate and staff helpful. The bathroom is a little small. But overall was a good place for a 1-night stay to explore the city.

The location was a bit sketchy after dark, do not walk around. During the day it was very vibrant.

Great location for accessing all places of interest, continental breakfast was great, rooms was a little small but very clean and well serviced. Would highly recommend this hotel.

No kettle or tea and coffee available in the room.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel because it was well maintained and it had a good sound isolation from the road . ++ Super clean , nice breakfast and professional staff.

As for the location , it is a bit far (20’ by car) to Puntas Carretas which was a really nice suburb.
