Perfect location, right by the cheeseboard and in north berkeley. The decor was cheerful and didn't have the sterile feel of the new high-rise hotel in Berkeley that I had previously stayed in. Good amenities: robe, hot chocolate and good quality tea, microwave. The room and bathroom were clean and more spacious than I expected, with a spacious balcony with chairs and a table. The bed was comfortable. There was a useable desk for working. The staff was personable and helpful.

I could hear people talking from another room in the morning so perhaps the sound-proofing could be better but no problem at night. The view of the parking lot from the balcony on the first floor could have been better.

The location was surprising and different. It felt cozy and private. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I liked the location, just on the edge of downtown, so it felt less hectic and had great restaurants. The clientele in the Bistro were colorful and interesting. An older gentleman softly played jazz guitar and regale his friends with stories about the history of music in the area from jazz to bluegrass, naming all the people he knew. He said he came in every am, so obviously feels comfortable there. I grew up in Berkeley and was visiting. I'm also a musician and familiar with the history of the people he knew. I really enjoyed staying at the hotel and getting that cool Berkeley feeling again.

Comfortable bed, super nice bathroom, great to have a closet to hang clothes. We only stayed one night, and had to get up early the next morning, so we didn't get to enjoy the little balcony, but that was a nice touch.

It didn't make much sense that the room had darkening curtains covering the window/sliding door to the balcony, so no light came through there, when the frosted glass in the door to the bathroom and the window in the bathroom could not be covered. The bright lights from the parking lot right outside lit up the whole room during the night. Please put some rolling shades on both those windows, so guests can sleep in a dark room if they want to.

What an adorable hotel in a FANTASTIC location! Within a block of tons of amazing restaurants and shops, and within walking distance of the university, The room was clean and had plenty of space for my husband and me, as well as a cute balcony. The front desk was very responsive. And (included!) coffee from the cafe in the mornings was great!

Nothing! You know you’re not booking a 5 star hotel and this completely fit the bill of a nice, clean, comfortable hotel for a weekend.

Spacious room with everything you needed. Decor is a bit dated, but did not bother us. Bed and linens are new, comfortable mattress. Very nice staff. Looks just like the photos. Great restaurants in the area.

The building is not well sound-proofed, so if you are a light sleeper it might bother you. We were fine. And it would not stop me from recommending the hotel.

Well located, rooms are very well-equipped. Beds are very comfortable. Shower is nice and has all amenities There is coffee or tea in the room. There is no view from the window but there is a nice patio areal The TV works well and there is also a desk area. Nice coffee shop connected to the hotel

It would be nice to have a view but it's Berkeley, after all, and it is a city so there are no real viewsl. The rooms could be bigger but they aren't and everything you need is in the room anywayl

There was free coffee. There was not free breakfast. The location is central to wonderful restaurants and backs up to a nice neighborhood with overnight fee parking. Shares a side of building with a grocery store, but was quiet overnight. Breakfast pastries looked good. I love Cheeseboard Collective next door. I will stay again. Nice microwave and mini fridge. Shower was modern and large. Spacious room that was well decorated. They’re doing the most with what they’ve got. Not a new Hyatt in Emeryville, so if that’s your heart’s desire, enjoy that. This hotel is perfect for my preferences.

The hotel was vacant, so a single female would be slightly safer on a higher floor. I was given 102.

Very nice and comfortable room about 10 minutes walk from Downtown Berkeley BART station. Staff were all very friendly, a nice vibe in the café in the morning as well as free coffee tokens. Microwave and fridge worked well so we were able to get food from the wonderful supermarket next door. Shower and bathroom were clean and comfortable and everything we could possibly think of was provided.

It would have been nice if the café had more vegan options

Loved the thoughtfulness that went into making it a pleasant place to stay: robes and slippers, multiple places to lay suitcases out, hangers that don't require special effort to get them off the rack, adequate drawer and shelf space, a room safe, many amenities (fridge, electric kettle, microwave, coffee & tea, ceramic and glass mugs, outlets, end tables and reading lights on both sides of the bed, tourist info, desk and chair, additional easy chair, balcony with table and chairs, bathroom essentials like soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner, adequate places to hang towels, decent towels and enough of them - you get the picture), lots of light, a great grocery store next door, a decent bed and pillows, and proximity to everything. Plus you can get breakfast/lunch at the Cafe with several vouchers for free coffee.

The walls are paper thin. If there are people in adjoining rooms, you can hear them and entire conversations clearly. There is a bit of a musty smell in the hallway, and occasionally in the room, but neither are overpowering.

I loved how you can come and go whenever, and there’s always someone watching the front door. The location was also amazing, and had lots of stores and grocery stores.

I found it odd that the showers don’t have a door to close, and when you shower the floor outside the shower would get wet.
