I stayed overnight to be closer to the Emeryville Amtrak station to catch a shuttle for the 2024 SF Hot Chocolate Run. I appreciated the continental breakfast - though I did not eat the hot meal, I had boiled eggs, a warm bagel and cream cheese, coffee, and fruit. This helped keep me energized during my 10K race. I also appreciated the free parking. Anyone who is from the Bay Area knows that parking here is hefty and can run up to $32/day in some places. The location of this hotel is great because it's walkable to the 4th street shops and restaurants, is easy to get picked up from by ride sharing app drivers, is close to multiple gas stations if you need to fill up your tank, and is so close to the freeway and Amtrak station. The price was hard to beat, especially for staying in Berkeley. Some of the reviews on this website had me so worried about seeing cockroaches, but the room I had was very clean (Room 210). The bed was comfortable and appeared clean. I usually have trouble sleeping anywhere new, especially hotel rooms, but I fell asleep quite easily and stayed asleep throughout the night. Finally, the customer service I received when checking in was amazing and checking out was a breeze.

There was a "lived in" smell to the second floor hallway. In a word, I would say it smelled musty. The furniture in the room looked like they've seen better days, but I didn't sit on any of the chairs so it wasn't a deal breaker for me. Lastly, I asked for two wake up phone calls in the morning, but they did not happen. I set the alarm clock in the room and also set up several alarms on my phone, so I was able to wake up on time. Again, this was not a deal breaker for me.

The breakfast was not as good as at past times when I have stayed there. Much smaller selection of items, although the items that were there were very good.

The breakfast was fine it just seemed skimpy. No eggs, no cooked food at all, no sausages bacon anything like that. Just waffles that we made ourselves and bread to put in the toaster. Not much of a selection. No drinking water at all! The orange juice was good though.

I loved the fresh water and coffee available all day long. Close to downtown areas. Safe parking available. Breakfast was available with different options. Oh best part, it was pet friendly, really appreciated that!

The people above our room was pacing back and forth all night. Luckily it was our last night staying there.

I stay here every time I come to Berkeley or Oakland. The staff is always friendly and helpful, rooms are quiet and comfortable and the hotel is always very clean. It is only a couple of blocks from 4th street with lots of coffee shops, restaurants and fun places to shop. Close to many other restaurants on University as well. I am very comfortable here. Breakfast does the job.

This location was less than 10 minutes away from where we were working on thiss trip. The bed and shower were both really amazing. This is an area that was previously questionable but its cleaned up and really quite nice and safe. I'd stay here again.

It's clear that this is an updated property which I really appreciate, however the hallway smelled of pot smoke which lingered into the room which affected how I slept.

The breakfast was good considering I do not eat a whole lot.

Government travelers should be able to have tax exemptions. I sent my tax exemption letter from my employer and I was denied tax exemption, even after I did was I was asked to do to get the taxes exempted. :(

The location is in the heart of Berkeley and there are many places close by to walk to. That wasn’t our purpose, though - we just needed a comfortable place to stay overnight while visiting grandchildren on Halloween. The pool looked nice and next time we stay we’ll plan on using it! The breakfast was mediocre - powdered scrambled eggs, non-browned sausages and a bunch of cereal and toast choices. Fresh fruit was bananas.

Breakfast had a lot more items than I expected. The coffee was really good and the staff was super helpful.

The room could have been a little cleaner and better taken care of. For the price it was worth it, but I did notice some things within the room that could have been cleaner.

Always a pleasure to stay here! The breakfast makes it even better to enjoy the place! I’ve been coming here 4 years in a row and I am always satisfied with the quality and service!

The elevator broke down the day we arrived and wasn’t able to get fixed due to the new years holiday!

The breakfast is excellent. Mr. Mooney, the general manager, is a very kind man. He treats guest like we are guests in his home. We love him and his staff. Special shout out to Audra ...we love her too❤️

The attitude of the young African American concierge. She talked on her telephone during our transaction, have no eye contact, and didn't say thank you. Very nasty attitude.
