The rooms were very clean and a great size. The staff on reception were very helpful. Fridge in room. Great value for money

The decor was a bit dated, but still clean so not a problem. The area around it is a bit sketchy, but so is the whole of LA so that doesn't really matter either haha.

Awesome location, so handy to metro, bus lines, Griffith Observatory, surrounding walks on the hills and Hollywood, staff are friendly and helpful. After reading some of the reviews about homeless people around the area I was a bit nervous coming from sheltered New Zealand but they weren’t a problem at all, harmless and never bothered us. As you will see, everywhere in LA sadly has homeless people (besides areas like Beverly Hills).

Nothing! Was perfect for our four night stay and the beginning of our holiday in the states!

Hollywood is not the nicest area. There are a lot of homeless people on the streets. However , they won’t harm you. There is security 24/7 , so no one can get in.The hotel is very clean and has spacious rooms. Beds are comfortable, as it is common in the US. The staff are friendly and helpful. Although Hollywood is not the best area it is central. There is a target , a Starbucks and a Walgreens as well as several fast food chains within walking distance of the hotel. During the day you can see the Hollywood sign from the balcony. Nothing to dislike about the hotel really.

The streets of Hollywood are a bit dirty. LA has a huge homeless crisis , which you can see everywhere in the city. However , they will not harm you. I would say the area is generally safe. Of course you have to be reasonably careful and watch out. Walking around after 8 PM isn’t a good idea. But I would say you always have to be careful no matter where you are. Sure Hollywood isn’t the nicest area but it’s ok.

Very accommodating staff. Friendly and informative. I left my makeup bag there after checkout and they mailed it to me at no expense. I definitely would recommend. Very easy access off the highway and close to many of the sights. Runs parallel to Hollywood Blvd and the Walk of Fame. In fact, you could just walk to it. Easy ride to the Hollywood sign as well.

The restaurant was never open while we were there, but there are many places to eat within 2 blocks. Rooms are dated though. No microwave, coffee machine or tea kettle in room. Found out on checkout they are kept in the office and can be requested

Beds comfortable but blanket on top not very thick. Pillows good. Good bath. Quiet room. Could open the window. Half an hour walk to Hollywood . 10mins walk to train for Santa Monika.

No microwave or coffee/tes making facilities. Needed to put a $100 bond which reduced the amount of money I could spend. Got it back within 2 days of leaving though. Area is not great. There was a security guard on at the Motel most days. Untold amounts of visibly mentally ill and homeless people. Its inhumane. Americas is not a pleasant place at the moment, LA in particular. Won't be rushing back to LA.

The facility is strategically located, walking distance from the Hollywood walk of fame, very close to the highway. Sufficient internal Parking (even though it is FCFS), with on-side surveillance The persons at the lobby were helpful and gave useful tips. Also they were very helpful when there was a room emergency and gave us a new room. Much appreciated!

The neighbourhood is a bit sketchy, with several homeless people hanging nearby. We did not have any safety issues though. The rooms miss some useful amenities (bed light and coffee machine) that are very common in facilities of this kind We had a room emergency (water coming UP from the bathtub sink), but the staff was extremely helpful and gave us a new room in the middle of the night

A very good bang for the buck inn just on the edge of the iconic Hollywood downtown. The room met all of my expectations, nice and clean, even had a bathtub that I needed very much arriving from a 1600-mile motorcycle ride of 5 days. The bed is huge and very comfortable with just enough sheets. The Hollywood Walk Of Fame is just in around 15-20 minutes of walking distance, a Target store is right across the street and there are a lot of fast food establishments in the same block, so location is great for someone visiting Hollywood. It's a bit farther away from the Sunset Strip, but using Uber/Lyft you can get there quickly too. The staff was nice and friendly, there is also a security guard for the parking lot so you can leave your vehicles there safely. The room was spacious enough too.

The heater / AC unit was very loud when operating, even on the low fan setting. Also, when my sheets got changed after my first night, the new ones had some stains on it, but as I was only staying 2 nights, I didn't bother much about it. All in all, it's totally worth the money and I'm sure if I called the front desk they would exchange the sheets to a new set.

Budget- but clean tidy and in a good location. We are a family of 4 and had two double beds. Which was ok for us. We walked to the Griffith Observatory ( got a 50c bus back) There is a laundrette 2 minute walk away which was good for us as we were travelling around California. Starbucks 2 minute walk away. There is plenty of car parking spaces with security 24/7. We didn’t hire a car so didn’t need them.

Yes, we saw homeless people ( they are everywhere in LA) we felt safe, mostly used uber to get around. I’d definitely recommend this if you are trying to keep costs down.

Location was perfect for events in Hollywood / Sunset area. I walked to the Palladium and back in the evening with no issues. Check in was great; super fast, friendly. FREE parking and plenty of it in well lit, clean parking lot without vagrants (amazing in LA). Burger King and mini-market half a block away (with vagrants). Room was exceptionally clean - another rarity in LA, so we were really pleased. Bathroom was brand new and remodeled. Sink was small but fully functional and clean with no mold. Nice refrigerator included that worked great. AC worked great - we set it for "Arctic Blast." :) Noisy as they all are, but that just made it even easier to sleep for us as it completely blocked out the big city noise which goes on nonstop in this part of town. Beds were super clean, super comfy, and very cozy even with the AC up. Overall we were sad to pay $200 for a basic motel room, but that's LA. In this case, the Dunes Inn was friendly, professional, super clean and comfy, safe, and near everything we wanted to do. So.... great deal! :D And did I mention FREE parking? :D

Cheaper... but it had everything we needed, safe, and close by, and FREE parking. We'll stay here every time from now on.

The room was fantastic. A lot of work has clearly gone into renovating the place, and it shows. All the towels and toilet paper were crimped for decorative effect, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the hair dryer and fridge were a huge bonus.

Location, location, location. It is a shame that a motel this nice should be in such a dodgy neighbourhood. We really didn't feel safe at all walking round nearby streets to find places to eat or shop, and, although nothing happened to us, we saw a lot of crazy going down. On the plus side, the motel has a security guard.
