The staff was incredible very upbeat and happy. I was traveling with my two children and they were so kind and friendly to my children as well. We've been here before and my kids requested to come back. They made my stay Go from good to incredible. I've never felt so welcomed and look after in such a busy area where they don't tend to care about the customer. They had accommodations to go to the beach so I didn't have to rent the things they had a great area to sit and lounge and most of all the people that I met there their staff was incredible. Honestly I can't say enough good things about this place highly recommend 11 out of 10 I would rate it that easily and will be coming back here next year with my kids again. Also the fact that it's right on the beach for the price point you can't beat it and there's tons of restaurants all within a 30 second walking distance. Ruben the supervisor was incredible he was constantly checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed and we're comfortable. He was also super friendly with my children and was beyond what I expected from a supervisor at hotel. I didn't feel like another customer I felt like family. Thank you again to everybody at ITH for making our vacation an incredible one We will love to see you again next year and can't wait to be coming back.

I ended up staying at ITH’s Mission Beach location because the reservation I made at a different hostel turned out to be a mistake (the online system said there were rooms available but in reality there weren’t any left at the time). It’s good that’s what happened though because the staff are much more friendly, welcoming and helpful/supportive. I was always told good morning and asked how I was doing throughout the day and if I needed anything. The place is always kept clean and stocked and is near the beautiful beach and boardwalk as well as a nice amusement park. They’ve also got daily events/activities like Taco Tuesday and BBQ night which I’ve liked. I remember five years ago thinking I’d probably never stay at a hostel when I found out about them being a thing; just because I didn’t like the idea of being around people like that as I’m kinda introverted. But I finally gave it a try and I’m glad I did. Especially ITH. They have good priced stays, nice locations (I’ve also been at their sites in Little Italy (San Diego, CA) and Beach Bungalow (Mission Beach, CA)), and great staff at each one. And personal space actually isn’t a problem like I thought it’d be. So I think I’m mostly done with hotels and will choose hostels, specifically ITH whenever I can, from now on!

I’m sad that I have to leave one day soon (too soon) and that I didn’t find out about them sooner

It was my first time staying in a hostel, and I don’t regret it. The people working at this hostel were kind, friendly, and helpful. The common areas were cleaned daily and everything was very clean. I also joined the Sunset Yoga program. Thank you, Amanda, for this amazing experience. The location was also great — there’s a bus stop for bus number 8 right across from the hostel. I used this bus to get wherever I needed to go. The beach was just a few steps away on foot. If I ever get the chance to come back, I already know where I’ll be staying.

The tall english guy that managed it was super sweet and helpful and so were the other volunteers that I met. I bunked in a female dorm with a few others that were traveling from Ireland. I was scared to stay in a hostel but I did my research and I was not disappointed. I’m a little socially awkward and I always travel alone so it was a neat way of kind of traveling with others. Everybody ate breakfast together in the mornings and went out to see the city together. It was a cute little spot right on the beach right in the middle of everything and it was very clean. I definitely recommend! I will be staying here again!

I would stay in an all female or male dorm unless you are open to people getting it on in the room with you😂 but that’s to be expected.

This hostel was amazing! The staff were really kind and made sure the hostel was exceptionally clean (cleaned daily!). The staff made exceptional efforts to build community amongst guests, holding taco Tuesday night, games night etc. As a solo female traveller, I felt incredibly safe in this hostel. I will definitely be coming back if I'm ever in San Diego again.

The hostel is hard to find. The exterior is not obvious when driving past (ie in a taxi) and this causes confusion. Additionally, while prime location close to the beach, this hostel does sit on the corner of a busy intersection. While there is nothing they can do about this and it does quiet down at night, it does take some adjusting to. Fortunately, the hostel provides complimentary earplugs for guests.

*** I am an ACTIVE (...but Older @ 63 ) Experienced "SoLo Traveller"...who has some "Mobility Issue's" ... but, this Mgmt & Hospitality team (Reuben & Akos) were Extremely gracious, and SUPER ACCOMMODATING towards Me ...as they went "ABOVE & BEYOND" My Expectations, when I was "Checking-In" ...and Treated this "Old DawG" to the "BEST AVAILABLE PRIVATE ROOM" ...which was Outstanding and Amazingly SUPER CLEAN, SUPER COMFORTABLE, Quite, and More than I could EVER had Expected @ this terrific Location (@ San Diego Mission Beach) ...across from the RollerCoaster, and 1/2 block to the BEACH ❤️⛱️ *** I Will DEFINITELY come back HERE, on My Next Vacation back to San Diego this Fall... and I "Highly Recommend" that ANYONE Looking to Possibly BOOK a Stay at the Place... DO NOT Hesitate to Go and ENJOY this Spectacular Place, that is SUPER CLEAN, SUPER SAFE, and a Place with a STAFF team, that will take Care of YOU...Like Family 🎯*** *** SpeciaL "Shout Out" to the Hospitality team Manager "Rueben"...and his assistant "Akos" (from Hungary 🇭🇺)

...that I was ONLY able to STAY for the ONE Night, and that EVERYONE was "Extremely Friendly"...with some Very Pretty and BeautifuL Women from ALL over the WORLD... Brazil, France, Spain, Germany... (yup) 🥰 ...I didn't LIKE that I had to LEAVE the Next Day 🤷🏼‍♂️

Probably the best hostel I've ever stayed at. The host staff were outstanding. They went out of their way to make all the guests welcome and have a good time. They have different participatory activities every night. And the group of travelers that I met were warm and friendly. The travelers are a mix of all ages and backgrounds. The hostel itself is spotless. The hosts clean the bathrooms several times a day. Two of the three showers were working, but there was no wait, even in the morning. Quiet time is after 10 PM. The location is about a block from Mission Beach. I found street parking a few minutes away, but there are also nearby parking lots. The only negative thing I noticed was that there was noise from the street in our bedroom, but we were provided earplugs, and after using them, I did not hear any noise. Overall, highly recommended. This was the highlight of my trip to San Diego.

A hostel right where you need it, a 2-minute walk from Mission Beach, numerous restaurants, Starbucks, souvenir stores and Belmont Park. Plenty of free public parking around the hostel. Entrance to the hostel and room is secured by a code. Although very small, the hostel has beautiful, spacious private and comfy rooms (which we had), dormitories, a lounge, a mini patio and a very small self-service kitchen. Respect for nighttime quiet is one of the guests' top priorities. In fact, most of them seem to be workers, not tourists, so they need a good night sleep. The downside is that the common areas are really small and you end up stepping on each other. Also, a little dusting could go a long way. Alex and the "long red hair lady" were friendly with us (the other staff members, not that much!!). What's more, Alex accepted my small Amazon packets a few days before our arrival. Last but not least, the hostel offers a copious and tasty breakfast. Hotel room price is right for the area.

Everything about this hostel was amazing. Reuben, the manager, went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable, such a great vibe! The whole place is spotless, seriously one of the cleanest hostels I’ve ever seen. The location is perfect and there are always fun activities going on, which makes it super easy to meet people. I’ll 100% stay here again next time I’m in San Diego!

Nothing. Everything was perfect!

Of course it is not cheap due to its outstanding location ( however I stayed in one of the single rooms which were far more expensive than the dorms) but it is super clean, very authentic, well self organized and the staff is very nice. Perfect accommodation for young people traveling on their own.

There is a tiny lack of security. Generic door codes are used which is fine but the computer and the software of the booking system at the front desk (with which the bookings etc. are managed) is always unlocked even when the front desk is unpossessed. Of course this does not directly impact the guests experience but is a huge IT security risk as someone with decent computer knowledge …maybe sth for the manager to fix as the staff said even they don’t know the credentials of the computer from their manager?!
