Very nice historical building dating from 1903 I believe. The refit to a hotel is nice. The downtown area is quaint and comfortable with several restaurants in easy walking distance. The locals that we came across were friendly and the owner was very informative and friendly. Everything was working well, there is an attached spa that the owners run if a relaxing treatment is wanted.

You can eat too many $1 tacos on taco Tuesday and have to walk back to the hotel from the Mexican restaurant . There isn’t an elevator and I think all rooms are upstairs which was no big deal for us.

If you plan to visit Fort Scott, staying here is a must! Frank and Cheryl are the most polite, kind and hospitable people. The hotel was clean, charming and holds much history in its walls. The location is also right in downtown which was perfect. The room was homey and the overall vibe of my stay was relaxed and at ease. Highly recommend staying here if you want an authentic and comfortable experience in Fort Scott!

Nothing.

Frank was an amazing hotel concierge! He was attentive and caring for our visit as we were there for a funeral. The room was comfortable and just what we needed and more. He stayed in contact with us throughout the day and made sure we felt welcomed. Will definitely be back to see the Courtland Hotel and spa for a longer stay next time.

I liked everything.

This is an awesome old hotel, with an excellent owner. If you like history, classic style, and a friendly experience, this place is for you.

Rooms are a bit cramped, but that's only because they had to add private bathrooms to a nearly 120 year old hotel plan that originally only had one bathroom for the entire floor. Can't exactly call it a dislike. It's all part of the history of the place.

If you're looking for something different, this is your place. Completely nostalgic, like staying in your parents' friend's guest room, but with everything you expect: air conditioning, thoughtful accessories, mini fridge, tv, private bathroom, hair dryer, etc. And exceptionally, spotlessly clean! I've never stayed in a cleaner place anywhere. It's all old wallpaper and gorgeous quilts and eclectic furniture and decor, while still being incredibly comfortable and easy. I will definitely go out of my way to stay there again.

Not a single complaint.

Frank, the owner, was great. He was very friendly and welcoming which made our stay more comfortable. It was great learning about the history of the building. If you appreciate historical buildings, you will love this place. The room was clean and comfortable. It felt like visiting grandma’s house, which I loved. The hotel is located within walking distance of the Fort Scott historical monument and several restaurants. Great stay overall. We plan to visit again.

No complaints. We enjoyed our stay.

This is a historic hotel just south of downtown Kansas City. It was easy to find and very appealing. It was like stepping back in time. It is filled with history and many antiques. The owners were very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the hotel and surrounding buildings.

I love the character and history associated with staying in this quaint place. Also, the owner, Frank, is so friendly and obviously enjoys having guests. He makes sure that you are comfortable. The location of the motel is right downtown making it the perfect place to enjoy Fort Scott’s adorable downtown shops, quaint restaurants, and the old fort. Also, it has easy access to Highway 54 and 69.

We really appreciated the background information given about the fort and its history from a local persons point of view. It was helpful as we were unable to have a tour guide at the fort when we toured it. We so appreciate people who seek to preserved history as they have done by keeping the hotel open for guests.

We would have liked a few more options for breakfast, protein of some kind. I thought the decor in the room would be more to the style of the period of the hotel.

Amazing location, right in the center of historic downtown Ft. Scott. Shopping locations and food are within walking distance. The historic site of Fort Scott is 2 blocks away, a very short and a great place to explore history. The hotel has a very quaint historic feel to it, and there is an attached day spa.

The beds were a little firm for my liking, that's it.
