Great location right beside the Ohio River in Marietta's historic, walkable, appealing downtown and nearby elegant residential area, with easy walking access to bridges across both the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers; convenient free parking; creatively restored entrance, lobby, restaurant, bar and ballroom; responsive, friendly staff; satisfying meals at both dinner and breakfast; quiet; comfortable bed; clean - especially the restored & modernized bathroom - with superb shower.

The hotel, built a century ago, has been added to and modified so that it required us to walk more than one hallway - and several corners - to get to our room.

We had a nice view of the Ohio river. The hotel is very historic with creaky floors and small in size, but you know to expect that going in. It was clean, comfortable and very close to walkable and short drives to entertainment, shopping, and museums. They have a rooftop to gather on for drinks and I am attaching a photo.

I didn't like anything. Elevator is small and the wife commented that there could have been more room to put clothes and bathroom supplies but again people didn't need a lot of room in the 1800s. :)

Breakfast was great, a great value too. Hotel was very convenient to walking/shopping/dining/sight seeing. DORA space was utilized as well as the benches along the river ( thanks for the fine weather too. Old World homes…Brick streets… Beautiful Basilica for Sunday Mass. Everyone we met were very friendly ! It made for a great get-away extended weekend. Oh Yea there was the Super Bowl (my team won!)

Could have had more staff on Sunday night for the Super Bowl in the Bar. At one time there were over 30 people. The one staff person was tending bar-taking orders-bussing tables (the front desk attendant came to help, but was limited in what she could help with)…. NOTE there were a number of people who left without eating or drinking due to the in-attention.

Couldn't stay longer

I loved how great the staff was. Everyone was so friendly. The rooms were clean and the lobby is inviting and beautiful. The attached bar served great food and drinks. Breakfast in the Gun Room was delicious. The location is perfect. I could watch boats on the river right from my room. There are lots of shops and restaurants right near the hotel.

There was no little refrigerator in room to keep our water cold, but there was an ice machine down the hall so I guess it wasn't too big of a problem.

Loved feeling like I was back in time. Everything was clean; bed/pillows were comfortable. Air Conditioner was a little loud and went on and off, but that is expected in older hotels. View from room was not good, but once you walk outside or from the dining room window, view was beautiful. The hotel is right there on the river. My husband and I both had the Fish & Chips at the hotel restaurant and it was one of the best fish & chip meals I've had. The chips were different and very tasty. Service and prices were very good.

View from room was of the top of a building overlooking the parking lot. We booked late so only a few rooms were left. We don't much care about views since we don't sit in the room and look out the window!

The location was the best: directly on the Ohio River, on the main street. It's an authentic old hotel. The furniture in my room seemed antique & solid. I walked everywhere in this lovely old town.

I didn't mind it, but some visitors might find it a bit worn. It's not a glamorous, fancy place. It's a working old hotel in a charming small old city.

The Lafayette Hotel is a beautiful, historic property evocative of Marietta's riverboat past. My wife, my mother-in-law, and I stayed for the night en route to another Ohio destination. The room was elegantly appointed in Victorian-era decor and very clean. Parking was very convenient, and the property is in easy walking distance of a very nice downtown area with plenty of dining and shopping options

The mattress was moderately comfortable, but a bit past its prime. We dined in the hotel's lounge and Gun Room restaurant. The food was decent, but service was a bit slow.

everything was great the staff was very helpful and respectful and fun to be around, things that we wanted to do were close to the hotel and the view from the room was beautiful, definitely plan on staying again when we come back.

in my opinion there isn't anything that needs improving we enjoyed everything about the hotel.

It was nice, quiet, beautiful view, great breakfast. I enjoyed sitting by the river in the evening and in the morning. The furnishings were beautiful. I'd return.

The keys didn't work and we are seniors. Had to walk very far to the other side of the hotel on the 3rd floor. Then had to walk all the way back to the front desk and back again to retry them. That was okay but I'd like to be on a lower floor if possible even if it doesn't have a view of the river. I guess I needed to ask some questions regarding the choice of rooms. My fault. But it was a beautiful hotel and I'd return.
