This hotel feels a bit like stepping back in time to the days of roadside motels. Normally, that’s where my enthusiasm drops off a cliff. My experience with roadside motels is typically -- "how many layers of socks do I need to wear in this place to protect me from the dirty floors?," but in Ft. Davis, lodging options are limited so we gave it a try. But, this place was great. It was clean, quiet, and even looked freshly painted. It’s a trip back in time, but the good kind—the kind where you don’t miss Wi-Fi, you just appreciate the peace and the stars overhead.

Dining options are a little limited in Ft. Davis, so we were glad this motel offered free breakfast—and honestly, it wasn’t bad at all. My only critique is the choice of plates. They had microwaveable breakfast sandwiches (plus a microwave), but only styrofoam plates to put them on. Since microwaving styrofoam is not food safe, I tried using napkins as my "plate" instead… which ended with my sandwich wearing most of the napkin (stuck to it like glue). It made the sandwich inedible. A simple paper plate would make breakfast pretty much perfect.

A good location for exploring McDonald Observatory. Rooms were well equipped, comfortable and clean . The staff person, Ms. Patel was sweet and very helpful. Breakfast was ample and included Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches . If you're looking for really fresh and delicious Mexican food, try Lupita's which is in walking distance. (Just a heads up Lupita's is cash only.) Sign up for a night sky activity at the McDonald's Observatory nearby. If you're not familiar with the plants in the area, pay a visit to the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute. They have a Botanical Garden and Nature Center.

It was all good, though not the best coffee I've ever had, lol!

I was very impressed with how quiet the property was at night and how clean and comfortable the room was during my stay. Usual decent amenities and excellent shower hot water flow. There is a small market and some restaurants nearby

Breakfast offerings were very limited. Had a pancake maker but it wasn't operating. Maybe due to the season there weren't sufficient numbers of guests to offer better options. Inconsistent service at the front office. Specific individual seemed annoyed when I had to ring the door bell because the front office door was locked during breakfast hours. Another individual was helpful. The room exceeded my expectations but certain individuals at the front office need to be more hospitable.

Came in with fresh towels and whatnot daily. New a/c unit, super quiet. Quiet neighbors, unlike many chains.

Refrigerator need a nudge to stop buzzing. Tub fixtures were loose and exhaust fan didn’t work, but we lived with it (we DID report it so it could be repaired.). We wish they’d had some high protein items for breakfast, but many places only stick to high-carb items; can’t blame them because they’re cheaper.

Check-in was easy. Staff was friendly. The owner was able to help fix the TV. A lot of parking was available. Rooms were clean and everything worked.

Perception: Many of the rooms were empty and not cleaned yet. When we pulled up bed-liners were being dried on the front fence. Breakfast was not great, but was available.

Clean spacious room. Comfortable bed. Could have used additional pillow. Very functional with spacious fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. Decent breakfast... jimmy dean breakfast croissant sandwiches were great. Parking directly outside room. Pet friendly.

It's an older property, but seems well maintained.

Very nice updated motel. Pleasant staff, plenty of free parking. Close to the fort. A little bit away from downtown for meals, not walkable, but not too far in the car.

The breakfast wasn’t the best. Didn’t seem to be too fresh. Best stick with toast and packaged cereal. The pancake machine was broken.

Clean rooms, Front Desk, Dining Area, and exterior property. Front Desk Staff courteous and friendly. The Male Manager politely changed the batteries to my room TV remote control, even though it was after midnight and I woke him up at the Front Desk.

The pancakes from the automatic pancake maker did not taste good.

the pancake machine in the lobby for breakfast was pretty cool! the location is on the edge of town so it was quiet. but still close to get to the local eatery and shopping

the door had a huge gap at the bottom letting out cool air and letting in bugs told the manager and they fixed it right away

We were on our way to Big Bend. We originally planned to stay in Marfa but it was very cold that night. This place was perfect. Super clean, comfortable and easy to check in and out. The beds were comfortable and there was a light breakfast in the morning. Perfect place to break up the long drive to Big Bend from San Antonio.

Nothing really this town just does not have many dining options.
