We were very pleased to stay here. Since it was difficult for us to get to the island due to Tet holiday, the hotel arranged our transportation to the island. The hotel has a cute cafe and nice skybar with good coffee and breakfast options. The hotel staff Nguyen and Anh were very friendly and helpful.

The only problem was the room we stayed in was damp. We opened the window as solution.

5/5 – Exceptional stay and even better hospitality! We had a wonderful experience at Rustic House in Cat Ba. The rooms were spotless with excellent water pressure in the showers, and the location is just a 6–7 minute walk from the main town—close enough to everything but still peaceful. What truly stood out was the incredible hospitality. Huong, the owner, went above and beyond—not only during our stay but even after we checked out. When a cyclone disrupted ferry services and we were stuck on the island for an extra night, she continued to help us coordinate our onward travel and kept checking in on us. Breakfast and coffee were simple yet hearty—just the right start for our days of exploring. The team also arranged our Lan Ha Bay tour, which turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Cat Ba—clean rooms, warm hosts, and genuine care for their guests!

The room was so spacious and airy. The decor was excellent. We immediately felt so comfortable and relaxed. The staff spoke little English but were very professional and helpful. They arranged for our tour catered to our groups need and our next day bus to Nin bihn even before arriving at the hotel. Everything was made hassle free and convenient. The even made sure we got into the right bus and prepared the sweetest apricot ice tea to drink on our bus. Thank you rustic house.

The bathroom shower door didn’t close. But nothing to effect the rating of the hotel.

Very peaceful hotel, after testing 4 vietnamese hotels this one is my favorite. It is exactly as shown on the pictures. It is clean and the bathroom is great as the shower is separated from the rest of the bathroom. The staff was also very nice. The food is great and the rooftop is very pleasant. From the hotel we can see the huge construction site but we're quite far from it so it's not a problem. The location is very nice. There are bikes that we can take for free to visit the town (but not the island as there are steep slopes). The bikes all have something malfunctioning but they are free so it's totally acceptable.

This was probably the largest bed I have ever slept on in my life, and very comfortable too. The room is very spacious and bright and has a nice view. I liked the location, a bit on the side from the main noise and activities, but at the same time close to everything. The family running the hotel was very nice, friendly, and helpful. The cafe downstairs served great sandwiches and coffee, and they also have a balcony above which is cool to sit on in the evening, looking down at all the neon lights around. Great price/value combination, would gladly stay again and recommend it.

Due to time constraints and a lack of prior research, we booked a tour to Lan Ha Bay through the hotel as well as a scooter rental for 1 day. The tour was fine and we enjoyed it, however, it seemed that if we had booked it with another company we could have done some extra activities during the same tour. The scooters were completely run down, with rear lights not working at all, and rented out with empty fuel tanks. Later we found other local rentals with much better vehicles for the same or even lower prices. Just to make it clear, our stay was flawless, however next time I would book external services on my own elsewhere.

Excellent location and value for money. We stayed here for two nights, for the purpose of exploring Lan Ha Bay. The staff were very helpful - they organised our pickup from Cat Bi International Airport, as well as a taxi to Hanoi. They also organised our Lan Ha Bay day tour. The room was perfect for what we needed - very spacious with good storage areas, it looks exactly like the pictures. The breakfast was yummy, and there were lots of options. We tried the coconut coffee based on other reviews, and can confirm it was absolutely delicious!! Definitely recommend this hotel, and would stay here again.

No complaints! Everything either met or exceeded our expectations.

The room was clean, spacious, and filled with natural light, offering a stunning view. The location was ideal—just steps away from the main street lined with fantastic restaurants. The staff was lovely, and having the option to enjoy breakfast at the hotel each morning was incredibly convenient before setting out on day trips. I’ll especially miss their refreshing cold coconut coffee and delicious banana pancakes!

Perhaps it would’ve been nicer to either get a bigger blanket or two separate ones as the one provided was a bit too small for the two beds in our room.

Family hotel, really friendly and helpful owners who try their best to make you feel welcome and confortable. Room 501 was big enough, bathroom good size, decoration simple but nice, beautiful view to mountains and "lake". Breakfast and coffee are really nice. Kids friendly 100%. They allowed us to stay an extra hour for free.

The frist night, we didn't have hot water, so we could have a nice shower until following day. The room was not so clean, my son went under the bed and came out "black" they defenitly haven't cleaned there in ages. Motorbike's conditions are terrible(no breaks or suspension, it switchs off any time) seems to be a general problem in the island, everybody offers really old motorbikes for rent. It would be nice if someone has the iniciative to provide motorbikes in good conditions so tourists would be happier.

The room is excellent and exactly like photos. They are also a café that serves freshly ground and made coffee and other drinks. Breakfast is also available at the premise. The corgi was a bit sassy but absolutely adorable. The owners were extremely helpful and will try to help you as much as they can, offering advices and booking tours/transportation for you if needed. Overall great experience at such an affordable price. The location is right at the boundary of the centre, so it's quiet and tranquil during our stay.

Some light fixtures did not work but there were multiple so it's alright.

Cozy and comfortable well-maintained rooms, just like the photos. You can have great breakfast with delicious coffee in their coffee shop downstairs. The owners are warm and welcoming, and started communication via WhatsApp even before we arrived. They helped me book transfers and tours effortlessly, making my trip smooth and stress-free. They accomodated my special requests, and everything was arranged perfectly.
