Excellent value for money. Nice big room with comfortable beds. Breakfast was good, buffet style with pancakes, fruit and yoghurt plus eggs, noodles and rice. The staff were very friendly and helpful and not pushy about yours. We booked the boat tour which was good value, the bus to Hanoi and scooter rental. They sent us a list of places to go on the scooter too. Nice terrace area at the top and behind the building which was nice to sit at, there’s makings of a restaurant up there but it’s not open yet.

It is on top of a hill which was ok for us to walk up but to get up the hill it’s quite busy with bikes and not much pavement space. There’s also a lady who lives near by who likes to ‘sing’ on a microphone, would have been ok if she was in tune but neither of these are any fault of the hotel and didn’t put us off staying there (we were there for a week).

Absolutely loved my stay in this hotel. Day shift manager is a very lovely helpful lady! I stayed in 2 different rooms, both rooms were big and have everything I needed. Great value for money! Breakfast was good too, freshly made eggs were good start for the day! This area is way better then the town one, quiet in the night.

I stayed on the 5th and 6th floors. On the 6th floor they have a bar and they have food cooking classes there and it's a bar area so people hang out there (till 22.00), but if you like it to be quiet, book the room on another floor.

I was immediately greeted and they made me feel right at home. Staff very friendly and helpful. Showed up a day earlier than my reservation, no problem they were able to accommodate me. I Very convenient location. The young lady at the front desk spoke VERY FLUENT ENGLISH, I was very impressed.with lots of GREAT suggestions for me to do.I was so impressed that I extended my stay a few extra days. Highly recommend if you're planning a visit to Cat Ba. Great buffet style breakfast to get you going for the day. Room was very clean and the bed was over the top comfy. The Skybar was to dream about, they also have a terrace you can hangout as well while relaxing and enjoying the views of the ocean and the other islands. It was actually hard for me to leave, I was enjoying myself so much. Will be back for sure and you should do the same.

Nothing, stay was incredible!

Linda is amazing! I would stay at any hotel that she works at. She is very kind and helpful. She always said hi and offered friendly greetings. She helped me with all of my questions (where to find an atm, providing ice, scooter rental, arranging transfer, etc.) The room is good value for what you get. Basic and generally clean, but could use a deep cleaning. There was limescale build up in the bathroom and also some black moths in both the bathroom and bedroom. The lamp in our room had exposed cables and flickered sometimes. The hotel is about 10 minutes to the main part of town. If you walk back, just be mindful you will be going uphill. Otherwise, you can pay for a golf cart ride. Bathroom is essentially a wet room, so when you shower, pretty much everything will get wet. Make sure to put your toilet paper somewhere dry ;) no conditioner (in case you want to bring some!) Rooms are not soundproof. I could hear everything outside of my room, even kitchen noises from either the 1st or 6th floor (I was on the 4th floor). Breakfast starts at 7:30, so you will hear things just before then. Just a warning for light sleepers like me! Air conditioning works well. We appreciated having a TV and fridge. Breakfast was hit or miss, but they had both Vietnamese and western options. Some things to be aware of if staying in cat ba: The power was cut off on the whole island on our first night from 11pm-7am. I’m not sure how often this occurs. It didn’t happen on the 2nd night. Most places are cash only. If they do take card, there will be a 3% fee Main part of town is under construction (just do some research before coming) Thanks again Linda!

I turned up with cracked shin from Cao Bang. She went above and beyond. I couldn't do much obviously, so a comfortable bed at my height was a blessing. For me the bathroom was great because I didn't have to hobble over anything. I actually like the way these bathrooms are set up, esp with a cracked leg (cleaning one would be a breeze compared to western ones). Linda arranged everything for me to get to Da Nang hospital. Seamless. I can't praise her highly enough, because she actually cares and wants to get Cat Ba going again after Covid and the Typhon.

Mrs. Linda was definitely the highlight. Her kind and very professional manner made the stay a lot more comfortable.

A couple of small things annoyed me a bit. - The rooms are very light of hearing. Whenever someone on the same floor closes a door, it sounds as if they are slamming them. - I wasn't a fan of their rooftop cafe. The food was not that great and the service personnel often wasn't to be found anywhere during opening hours. Also the view is not worth it, as the hotel only overlooks the city and a construction site. - I hated the shower. The water boiler is very noisy and since the electricity disconnects when you leave the room, you can't warm up the water in advance. Heating it for half an hour gave me maybe three minutes of hot water.

The location is really good.

After flushing the toilet you have to wait 20 minutes to flush again.

Really enjoyed the location, which is a short walk from the busier parts of town. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was hearty, and the rooftop restaurant was a nice place to relax. We had great experiences with both the cooking class and the full day boat tour on offer at the front desk, and the scooter rental is handy for exploring other parts of the island. Linda and Ali are also very welcoming, helpful, and patient with questions.

Coffee on offer with the breakfast is already sweetened. Having black coffee as an option would have been preferable.

I didn't like the the one tour I was able to do on a boat, don't get me wrong the scenery was everything I expected. What was disappointing was the total lack of giving a rats by the young jocks running it. Total contradiction to the effort of others put into trying to rebuild Cat Ba. They make the people recommending them look bad. Also get to Cat Ba now, before the new "resort" is built, destroying the feel of the place and no doubt pricing many people out. I can see this resort being a massive failure. Just my opinion.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location made it easy to explore local restaurants and cafes. However, the true highlight of my experience was the exceptional service provided by Ms. Linh at the reception. She truly went above and beyond to ensure my stay was memorable. From arranging fantastic tours, including a full day boat excursion and a full day hiking adventure, to organizing my bus trip back to Hanoi and onward to Sapa, she demonstrated unparalleled dedication to guest satisfaction. Ms. Linh's communication via WhatsApp was prompt and thoughtful, and she consistently checked in to ensure everything was going smoothly during my stay. Her kindness and willingness to accommodate even unexpected changes, like securing an earlier bus for me upon my early arrival in Hanoi, truly made a difference. Ms. Linh's exceptional service undoubtedly deserves recognition, and I believe she deserves a raise for her outstanding contributions to the hotel. I also enjoyed spending time on the rooftop, where I could relax with a cocktail while taking in the beautiful views of the sea. It was the perfect way to unwind after a busy day of exploring.
