A new (2-3 years old?) property. Very nice bunk beds with shelves, own light, socket, privacy curtains. Centrally located, very friendly staff. It always makes me feel welcome if they know their guests by name. Easy to organise tours, transfers and bike rental. Restaurant on the 1st floor had a pretty decent choice of breakfast and it was nice to be able to sit outdoors by the pool having a breakfast to meet other guests. 7-floor building with the lift.

No natural light in 4-bed dorm due to the next building being super close. But this wasn’t an issue if you stayed in dorms at the end of the hall (above pool, I think 8-beds).

I loved this hostel. The food was okay and there was free beer between 7-7:30pm by the pool (yes, there's a pool!). The bed was comfortable, the locker was spacious, and the bunk contained an additional cabinet locker. It's right in downtown Cat Ba.

I didn't like the pricing of the tours and the transportation. I booked the day boat tour to Lan Ha Bay and it was 100K VND more than what the tour offices within a block or two walk of the hostel were asking for similar tours. Also they booked me transportation to Hanoi which cost more than other options (but it was fast and Daichi does NOT mess around, probably the best transportation company in North Vietnam).

Great location, insanely nice bathroom for the price we paid, with private showers and private toilets, also fantastic room size with plenty of storage. staff was very nice, and there is even half an hour of free beer a day

at night it was really loud due to some sort of plastic banging the wall at a building. i assume this is not the hostel’s plastic, but i’ve seen many reviews mentioning it without anything having been done against it. furthermore, even though breakfast is supposed to start at 7, you can’t really rely on that and need to plan plenty of time since they prepare it one by one (which theoretically is a good thing, but not if you’re in a hurry, and this was not mentioned to us at check-in)

Wow, what an amazing hostel! It's fairly new and you can tell they try their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I stayed in the dorm, which was very clean. The pool was also clean and refreshing, but what made this hostel truly outstanding for me was the exceptionally friendly staff. They really went above and beyond with helping me organise trips, booking buses, and providing information. Special thanks go to Shelly who helped me a lot during my stay. This place is (thankfully) not a party hostel, but it is still easy to socialise during the happy hour in the evening or at the restaurant. This was definitely one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at.

Big and clean room in a pretty new hostel. Small but nice pool area, restaurant offers some simple dishes as well. The location is great as there are many of the best beaches and great restaurants around, only downside was a lot of construction around but that is not the hostel's fault. Beer happy hour from 7-7:30pm was a nice bonus and we also used the opportunity to rent a motorbike for only 100k VND for a whole day which only took minutes. We also got fresh towels and a 0.5L water bottle per day which was nice. The staff made our stay feel truly special and I would like to name Shelly, Toby and Hana personally as they were extremely helpful and funny at the same time. A great team!

We loved this hostal! The staff were fabulous; fantastic English is spoken, the right amount of information and interest in your stay is given by the staff on reception. The bar manager is the ultimate in professional, he was very efficient with every transaction we had with him. The pool area is beautiful and well maintained, you can see the love that goes into looking after the plants around the pool . Our room was front facing, with balcony and en-suite. It was large and clean. Breakfast was ok. The location in town is great, lots of places to eat nearby, mini marts, travel agents etc. Even though its on the main road, we didnt suffer with external noise at all. Reception organised 2 scooters for us and it took les sthan 10 minutes for them to arrive and they were ridiculously cheap! We loved the vibe here, we are in our late 50s and didnt feel like the oldies in this cool new hostal. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The bed and pillows were a little hard for our liking but this is a really personal thing to get right 100%. The one thing we would really have liked is a kettle. You have 2 cups, but no kettle to make a morning brew! We asked, but there were none.

Upon arriving at CatBa Oversleep, I realized I had left my wallet on my sleeper bus and couldn’t provide a deposit. Their response was incredible — they immediately contacted the bus company, tracked down my wallet within minutes, and arranged for it to be returned to CatBa. Literal life savers! The staff also booked all my tours for me. I highly recommend the night kayaking trip with glow-in-the-dark plankton — such a cool experience! Their laundry service was great, and the daily happy hour is a fun, low-key way to meet other travelers. This isn’t a party hostel, so expect a more relaxed, chill vibe. But if you're looking for nightlife, you’re only a 5-minute walk from the two lively spots on the island. It’s easy to be lazy here — there are plenty of great restaurants and massage places within a 10-minute walk. Also, shoutout to the shower pressure here — probably the best I’ve experienced in all of Vietnam!

First of all the location is great! As there is a major construction going on in what used to the the laguna, it's far enough so it won't bother you. On top of it, some of the most affordable, fairly priced and tasty restaurants like Yummy are around the corner. The 19:00-19:30 free beer is great and the space with pool is very cozy and has a nice vibe to it. Also, the lady at the reception was exceptional - she was always there (I hope she gets enough rest), helped us with the laundry and the motorcycle - all was done in minutes. We are very grateful

The bed and pillows were a bit too hard and there are no lamps, only the ceiling lighting so the evening are not that cosy. But hey, for the price they are asking per night, rest of facilities and spacious room it's completely worth staying there!

Actually I planned to stay 3 nights, but because of the typhoon we stucked, but everything was really nice. It‘s a super new hostel. Everyone is friendly, the room and the bathroom was clean. I had a lot of fun there. Especially the free beer at night is a good idea to bring people together.

The food in the restaurant could be better. And people working at the reception haven’t been so informed about the whole weather situation. The day before the typhoon we asked about it and they only said, that we shouldn’t worrying about it, its normal Catba weather, nothing about the typhoon. The day after we couldn’t make the whole tour we habe booked and also couldn’t leave the island anymore, because all the boats got canceled.

The staff here are wonderful - particularly the people on reception and the woman who works in the bar/restaurant. The rooms are new and clean and the pool bar is great for relaxing or socialising. It’s got a really nice vibe with people of all ages. I had washing done and it was cheap and returned clean and fresh. It is very close to good restaurants and night life. And a 2 minute walk from Cat Ba Ventures office. They will also organise the bus back to Hanoi from reception which picks you up at the door. Overall a great stay.
