This hotel has recently been refurbished and to a great standard. A lovely comfortable super king size bed and not 2 beds pushed together like a lot of places do. The modern decor of the rooms, lobby, bar & restaurant makes the stay more enjoyable. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much effort. They all spoke very good English, meaning you could ask what you needed and they understood you. Although the official exchange rate from GBP to LEK should be a lot higher, I found changing money easy as there are exchange shops all over Durres. As we had a car we explored the country a lot and away from tourist hotspots, we got more LEK for our money. You can pay in £ or € in most places. However you will generally get 100 LEK for £1 or 1€. They prefer you to pay with € if you don't have LEK. Durres is undergoing a major tourism push, with a lot of construction and improvements wherever you look. Lots of new hotels being built, the new seafront and sea defences. However Hotel Vivas is ahead of the game and I would recommend a stay here, you won't come away unhappy, as we didn't!

The room we booked was the superior Double with a sea view on a bed and breakfast basis. There was a fridge in the room which kept drinks cool, but it would have been nice to have a kettle and some cups so we could make tea and coffee when relaxing on the balcony. We liked the look of the hotels own private beach, however we're not made aware that as it is out of season, there are some sea defence works being carried out, and this beach was closed. An email prior to flying would have been nice to inform us.

There is always room for improvement, but you can see that Albania is still a newcomer when it comes to tourism and if you realize this and come to this country open and empathetic, you will not be disappointed. However, this hotel - extremely nice and English-speaking receptionists / we were missing a fridge in the room, a few hours after mentioning it, we had a brand new one in the room! I recommend a superior room with a new bathroom / clean, new towels every day, only one sheet to cover two people, but there is a blanket in the closet, nice view of the entire coast, the balcony could have been cleaned more / nests of swallows and a noisy AC / the sound of a boeing taking off /, but the room itself is quiet, soundproofed. I don't know what you're used to having for breakfast at home, but you certainly don't have such a choice as there was here. Again, do not compare breakfasts in hotels of the same category from other countries, each has a different culture and customs and especially standards - then you will not be disappointed. The pool was only 1 day closed for technical reasons during our four-day stay, there is a shower that can be used even after coming from the beach, where unfortunately they don't have a shower. There are not many sunbeds here, but it was never full. Unfortunately, the boy at the pool doesn't speak English, but he is nice and takes good care of the pool area. The beach in front of the hotel is good by local standards, you can definitely relax here, there is no loud music anywhere, sunbeds and umbrellas are maintained free of charge and I have to praise the guy who took care of everything, smiling, communicative, caring, watching the surroundings and keeping the peace / I was amused by chasing away a stray dog for the peace of the guests / and I felt safe with our stuff, even when we went into the water. Definitely a thumbs up for him, the hotel should

Since we couldn't have digital boarding passes we had to pay 1€ each to the reception to print them. It hasn't been charged before. Expensive for a print, and it will make us consider if we even will book this hotel a fourth time.

my stay in Vivas hotel was a top notch experience, i actually choose the hotel because it sound like my name Vivian, and i needed a quiet, nice place and affordable for my 40th birthday. The staffs are so helpful and lovely. they have a welcoming spirit. The food was excellent, i stayed 7 night and all the meal i had was nice and affordable. the staff are very caring and kind. i have also recommended the hotel for two of my colleague that are going to durres for vacation because they saw all the nice and beautiful pictures i took and i told them about my experience.

They have a great link with an exceptional and reliant taxi company. Delicious Cuisine – Especially Breakfast: One of the highlights was the food. The hotel’s breakfast was outstanding—fresh, varied, and full of flavor. From local specialties to more continental options, every meal was prepared with care and served in a pleasant dining area. Great Location: The hotel is ideally situated, making it easy to access nearby attractions, the beach, shops, and restaurants. Peaceful and Welcoming Atmosphere: Despite its central location, the hotel maintained a calm and quiet setting, perfect for unwinding. Ohh and a very nice swimming pool, loved it!!!

The beds were too small. I think they should have a double bed instead of twin beds.

The reception was pleasant. Since we arrived at night, we were advised to rest and deal with the formalities in the morning. Booking said that family rooms are on the upper floors, but we got a room on the 2nd floor. But the sea view is also beautiful on the 2nd floor. The room and bathroom are very large and comfortable. The wifi is fast enough to upload videos but too slow to watch movies. Beach chairs are free but towels are not provided. There was a good guard on the beach who kept an eye on things and chased the vendors away. Check-out is very early at 10:30 a.m. But you are allowed to stay on the hotel grounds for the whole day.

There were 3 of us in the room but often only 2 towels were left. We got more from the reception. In the pool area you are directed to wash before swimming, but the shower only has ice-cold water and the washroom is very outdated and dirty. Breakfast is poor. 100% the same food every day. No fruit or fresh juice. Only jam for dessert. In the morning you could fill your water bottle from the water dispenser, but during the day this option is not available. The bed mattress was so worn out that it was hard to sleep in the hole and felt like you were falling out of bed.

I wanted to share my wonderful experience at a hotel with a nice location and excellent facilities, including a convenient car park. The staff was very welcoming and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We particularly loved the sea view from our balcony, and the abundance of restaurants with diverse food options was a huge plus. The very good breakfast facilities, with everything included, were also a highlight. The hotel's location made it easy to travel to Tirana, the Dajti cable car, and Kruje, all within a comfortable driving distance. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to the area.
